Melvins Discussion / Re: Buzz's best interview
November 23, 2005, 11:13:57 PM
that sounded more like an argument than an interview at times, or is that just the european interview method?

anyway, good stuff. Listening to and reading interviews, you can really tell that the guys (esp. Buzz) are not stupid people.

the secret is that the paper is dosed!! so what you're buying is more than just blotter art.

hehe, i've wondered that myself...
Obviously they have to put a disclaimer in the item description stating that no drugs are present, but I wonder...
Anyone have any experience buying blotter on ebay that has a lil' extra?

Edit: Now that I think of it, it would be pretty stupid, considering that sale of LSD is considered manslaughter (am I correct about this or is this just a myth?)

I never understood this...what other use is there for this other than loading it up with acid?
They sell this as if its a piece of fine art: "hand inspected to insure the highest quality...museum quality on the finest paper." Yes, because whenever I go to art galleries I always like to check out their collection of LSD Blotter art

Melvins Discussion / The Fool, the Meddling Idiot
November 14, 2005, 04:10:51 PM
Recent developments (very recent blueberry tasting developments) have prompted me to say that The Fool, the Meddling Idiot has to be in the top 3 melvins songs of all time. This song is amazing, all the elements come together extremely well. Some songs don't always gel, but for me all the elements of this tune(guitar, bass, drums, vocals, lyrics) are top notch and extremely creative.

Melvins Discussion / Vinyl or CD?
March 26, 2005, 10:41:23 PM
thanks for the advice. Now i just gotta save up some cash. A guy at a local vinyl shop said he can sell me a turntable for around $60-80, and a whole package (turntable, receiver, speakers) for something like $275. That sound reasonable?

While i was there I also found a copy of Thrones Sperm Whale, kinda surprised me. Hopefully it'll still be there when I get around to getting the system.

I think my first melvins purchases will be Houdini, Stag, or The Bootlicker. Can you only get The Booklicker lp in the trilogy set? I guess I wouldn't mind, The Maggot kicks ass but I could care less about The Crybaby.  Was Eggnog ever released on vinyl?

Melvins Discussion / Vinyl or CD?

heh, how the hell would I know.  I just moved here from Bismarck about 8 months ago for school and I don't go out much (bars, etc...) so I have no clue. Where have you heard this?  Even if there was skinheads here, they are probably nothing more than moronic hillbilly tweakers who are looking for a fight.

Do most record players have headphone jacks? I was looking at some on ebay and it didn't look like they did, just RCA outputs. I think I would buy one locally first though, before I got one online

Melvins Discussion / Vinyl or CD?

My reasoning for wanting to start a vinyl collection is that it's more permanent and archival. I wouldn't just buy any old album on LP, I would only get my personal favorites. No matter how well I keep them, my CDs always seem to get scratched, and I guess CDs actually start to deteriorate after a decade or so.

About listening to it in a car/discman; one of my ideas is to buy a turntable and hook it up to my computer using a RCA to 1/8" convertor which would allow me to rip it and burn CDs. I think for that to work the turntable would have to have a built-in preamp, but i'm not too sure as I don't know that much stuff about record players yet. Maybe someone could clear this up for me?

Fuck yes!  Out of the older material Eggnog stands out the most in my opinion, despite it's short playing time. The whole thing has a complete schizo atmosphere. Fav track has to be Hog Leg, the middle part that just builds and builds and comes crashing back down fucking amazes me every time I listen to it. Definitely one of the best Melvins tracks.

I think I listen to this little gem every day, along with The Bootlicker

Melvins Discussion / Vinyl or CD?

First off, i've finally become obsessed enough with the Melvins to actually register here, so a big hello to everyone. About a year ago a friend of mine gave me Stoner Witch, Houdini, and Gluey Porch Treatments. Stoner Witch had me hooked right away, it took me a while to appreciate the greatness of Houdini, and i'm still getting acquainted with GPT. I discovered the band had a mammoth discography so I devoured it all.  Now I just have to start buying them...

Which brings me to my question, should I buy CDs or LPs?  I don't have a record player yet, but i've been planning on starting a record collection for some time now. How easily are Melvins LPs acquired?
