Melvins Lyrics & Tabs / Re: Anaconda cover

That's what I love about Dale. He seldom plays linear fils, instead completely contorting any syncopation by leaving some notes right out.

I guess it's really the notes he isn't playing that make him great.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the timing. Its more or less idiosyncratic rhythm, coming from your inner melvinite. This happened to me on occasion when playing Easy As It Was and Heater Moves And Eyes on both guitar and drums. I could never figure out or write down the timing, but I could just feel it when playing.

Also, if the odd sounding chord used through the song is throwing you off, its just an F# with it's minor third (A), rather than it's perfect fifth.

Any chance of getting tabs for the Making Love demos? Excess Pool would be sweet...

compare: The Talking Horse and Veins. An ode to Broadrick or just a coincidence?

EDIT: Holy crap it's topic #10,000.

Here is my cover of Goose Freight Train http://rapidshare.com/files/114023664/Sewer_featuring_M._Hoffman_-_Goose_Freight_Train.mp3.html
bionicanchovy on vocals, me on the rest.

I can't stand it either! It just sounds like a very bland, generic rock song (IMO) with a lack of classic Melvins quirkiness and sludginess. I did actually enjoy the 26 Songs version though. Much slower and heavier.

Continuing the thread, I also hated A History Of Drunks. Way too poppy for me. I skip it every time.

On the Joe Preston EP:

1. The Eagle Has Landed - Smooth instrumental jazz punctuated with rain and a screaming child.
2. Bricklebrit - Heavy slab of industrial-sounding sludge. Drum machines and chugging riffs a-plenty.
3. Hands First Flower - 23 minutes of pure riffage. An ode to his days in Earth.

Melvins Discussion / Re: Any word on the box set?

Quote from: Ipecac
8. A huge limited edition Ipecac box set of everything the Melvins have done with the label as well as stuff you haven't heard at all

Most probably Ipecac

It would make one hell of a sound collage though

Would anyone here be able to add vocals to my mix of Goose Freight Train?

I've always thought of it as a revamp to the Night Goat bassline
