Title: July 27, 2008 Missoula, MT - The Other Side
Post by: roadbull on July 29, 2008, 08:23:35 PM
First in line, as usual. Got in, hit the merch. Walsby was selling the merch. I shook his hand, then proceeded to spend over a 100 clams. Got a cool poster that he had made about 20 minutes before the doors opened, because they had no posters for the show.Talked to Toshi before the set. He had recognized me from Seattle three weeks ago! Then I moved to my spot, dead center of the stage.

Moss, Toshi, and Dale came out for the first act. Perfect way to start. They played for about 15 min. Big Biz came up and dominated, of course. Grounds for Divorce, Hands Up, Start Your Digging, The Drift, Cold Lunch and a couple other new ones. Heard alot more of Toshi's guitar this time around. The band mentioned a DVD coming out. They said it was called " The 77 P's of Success" , then proceed to name off P words. It was hilarious! Only a couple of minutes between Big Biz and The Melvins. Just enough time for Jared to change into his Gold getup. Opened with Nude With Boots , which was perfect. Pretty much the same setlist from other reviews. Had Roadbull on setlist but didn't play it! Hearing Eyes Flys, Tipping The Lion, and Boris was amazing. The whole band seemed to be completely possessed the entire set! Crowd was rawkus. One of the Best shows I've witnessed. They had actual posters after the show, so I bought one. Got the setlist, which I lost due to drunkeness. But I got my Walsby poster signed by everyone including Moss, he commented on how fuckin' great Walsby was!  Priceless!

Cheers to Big Biz and The Melvins for One Hell Of A Time!

yeah, still too tired and busy to post a decent review.  did it once, computer fucked me.  could not post pics for some reason.  just retarded tired right now
alright, i will give it a go
fucking insane.  rocked my cock clear off.  if the Melvins are trying to be the best live band ever, forget about it, its over.....they win.   Morningstar Rising (Porn - Billy +Toshi) ....i want more.  lots more. i really liked the Biz set. so clean tidy with their thing now.  Toshi was the man and his circuit bending was way cool.  the new songs are great.  obviously the Melvins just killed it.  listened to the setlist a couple of times on the drive there (how gay is that?) and the live versions blow away the recorded stuff.  it was inspiring, to say the least.
the highlight for me was at the end of Dog Island where the drums lead into Dies Irea...which is so huge live, absolutely massive.  nothing like the NWB version. as Roadbull said, they were way into it cuz the crowd was nuts.  people moshed the whole show.  pretty full house (it holds 600?)   it seems like Buzz is always staring at me like he loves me but wants to kill me.  the sound was brilliant...i love the Other Side.  nice venue.  all 3 bands were just tight.  my cousin is into Lamb of God, Gojira, and that type of shit and he bought 4 melvins cds and 3 BB cds.  converted him good.
met dale, got pic of he and my bro, got posters signed, met Walsby, bought lots of shit.  tour posters are cool. i will post pics if someone helps me post a jpeg.  i have done it before here, but just still out of it.
drove 3 hours home after the show with no traffic and a big crescent moon to follow. my crew members were hammered.  my copilot woke up out of a dead pass out (his attempt to drink a 16oz PBR every song barely failed) and puked out the window at 70 mph.  gut wrenching laughing and yelling enused for the rest of the trip.  slept 2 hours and then worked 9 hours.  large amounts of caffiene and sheesh is a hell of a thing.
Roadbull, we were right in front of toshi and buzz the whole time.  probably saw you.  glad you made it!
will try to post some pics later
go see the Melvins and take everyone you know with you!

Not a knock on you at all, but goddamn, I wish I was 17 again!  Even if your not, you write with the pizazz of a 17 year old experiencing their first Melvins show.

uuuuhhhhh  37.   but thanks.  i did not have my id at the door (18&up) and they made me go get it.  luckily i got in through the back instead of standing in a long line.  i got carded for chew at the gas station today.  i always feel like a kid, but what the fuck is going on here!?
the show was that good, i have been to tons of shows and this was way up there.  so much energy from the band and the crowd.  it felt like i was 17 again and seeing Bad Religion for the first time.
melvins keep you young.

oh, and also.. can we clarify something?  people keep saying melvins opened with "nude with boots".
is this true or is there some misunderstanding? I thought they opened with "the kicking machine".

Unfotunately, jimbobber, that's not me in the pic, I was about 4 people left of that guy. But I gave my marker to big axe so that Coady could sign his poster.

And yes, there are more trades afoot, I'm just trying to get things in order.

Anyway, here's  the poster pic.

Cool. I don't have much stuff that's new in my live dvd list, but keep me in mind when you figure out what you are willing to trade. I'm pretty broke, so doing some trades for some new Melvins/BB merch would be great. The last trade we did went so smooth that I'd definitely be interested in doing another.

Muaha, this is great; what I especially love are the pins holding it up (no sarcasm at all).
