Title: Beck has sampled the Melvins???
Post by: al27 on November 22, 2008, 12:26:29 PM
I'm sure I'm not the first on here to discover this but, I was looking through the notes of my copy of Beck's "Mellow Gold" today and look at what I saw:

"Beercan" contains sampling from "Hogleg" by The Melvins.  Courtesy of The Melvins and Boner Records.

So I listen to both songs and compare, sure enough, Beck uses the opening feedback screech about 2:30 into "Beercan."

Learn something new everyday, I guess.

Yup.  "Bad Reputation" is in Rock Band 2 and I love rockin' the drums for that song.

I was also listening to "Flashback" yesterday, I really like the version of "Cherry Bomb" she does live with L7.

Yeah, its been a while, but I've been busy (heck, I haven't even updated my crappy little comic in half a year!).

Not too busy to buy "Nude With Boots" though!  My review:  Its good!

A few years ago, someone in here with a good ear said Mellow Gold also included a drum sample from one of the songs on Bullhead. Sure enough, it was true. I don't think it was Beercan, but I can't remember.
the song "loser" is a rip off of "greyhound" by jon spencer.

It sounds like a Melvins sample in Soul-Suckin' Jerk also, theres this part with some real heavy drumming that sounds every bit like Dale's

.... and in return Beck was supposed to contribute to the Crybaby album, but it never happened because of contractual obligations.
