Just woke up. I'm still hurting. Ears still ringing, back and shoulder muscles stiff as fuck.
Great show. They played as hard as ever. Will post a review and a few (bad) pics I took later today when I'm back to normal. Butty I got you a poster. Can't wait for Tuesday!
Peace

Ok here we go:
The wait is nearly over
The countdown continued until the last minute... 5 years since I last saw The Melvins in Brisbane and the expectation was killing me. 8 years after the first time I saw them in Houston, Texas, and I was just as excited as on that day in Houston...
The Arrival
We got to the venue around 21:15. No merch table. Fuck, I promised BHM a poster! A couple of beers at the bar and a
How much did you smoke before the show? :P Trippy review, but I liked it.
Interesting sounding......I need video
haha cool review thanks! kinda sounds like the Houdini show they did at Slim's with Trevor.

I only had one joint and a couple of beers... I wasn't fucked but I was "happy fucked"...
Someone filmed the show from the first row, I took his email and will try to see if I can get a copy.
Excellent review, MJ! And you were so lucky to stand so close to Crover! I really want to see the Melvins as a power trio again. I'm curious what Spread Eagle Beagle sounded like. No moshfags during Honeybucket?
Nice review. Who was the support?
best title thread ever, thanks for the great review Michael!i'm with norecess about the Melvins trio.

great review.
its nice to read about shows like this when the US shows are usually cookie-cutter night to night. it shows that MELVINS still got it. oh man do they got it.
Amazing! When I saw the melvins in Victoriaville I was a meter away or so, too, from Dale's drum set. I could feel gusts of air every time he struck the drums. I'll never forget what that felt like.

A few but I didn't mind that much... I was kind of expecting it. Have a look at the video Black Stallion posted u can see me there next to the stage at 2:31 in front of the bald guy with the white shirt. He was getting a bit annoying with his shoving at some stage but I had a quick chat to him after the show and he seemed like a cool guy, he just had a lot of energy I guess...
Overall I think the crowd was pretty good. A lot of the older crew but also a few young faces.

When that time comes, I hope they go with Dunn. His sound is fucking diiiiiiiirrrrrrrrtyyyyy on houdini live.
A few photos:
Most of them are pretty shit but I got a couple of decent ones. I only took photos when they got on the stage and at the end during spread eagle beagle.

Sometimes lo-fi pictures really do it for me, I love that last picture of Buzzo.
those pics look like maybe that is how MJ was seeing through smoke and booze muddled eyes.

Thanks for the review MJ! Your description of Spread Eagle Beagle sounds amazing.
I like the pics as well; just because they're not of super high quality doesn't mean they're bad.

Nunchukka Superfly.
I got to the venue a bit late so didn't really catch much of them but they did play this one great heavy song which I heard from the other room.
And I just found a recording of the show, sound is pretty good...

Great photos.
There were a few people with cameras to my left, on Buzz's side of the stage. I wouldn't be surprised if more photos surface soon.
Great review! and thanks for the pictures and download of the show!
I'm surprised Melvins were put in such a small venue (a pub). I saw The Mark Of Cain @ Annandale Hotel on NYE 96-97 and they blew shit up BIG time. I'd love to see Melvins doing a pub gig. No surprise there was no merch table........I don't think you could fit a merch table into that pub!
I remember in 97 I saw Melvins in Auckland, New Zealand. Anyway I heard (read maybe?) that during that tour of NZ the Melvins were drinking in some pub in a small town and decided to set up and do a set. I always wondered if that was true???? If so that would've been awesome seeing some poor old blokes sitting at the bar suddenly getting blasted by the Melvins.
guess they still prefer small venues.on the last tour they decided to do a show on their day off in a small bar in Eindhoven, just because they liked the place.i posted somewhere a link where Crover talks of that.i bet what you read about the set in that small pub is true
"I saw god (again) and his name is D Crover"
Best thread title ever, MJ. :)
maybe 2nd to Vinny's "holy fucking shit read this"...

Especially when all we got was a title...
And a rough transcription of the first part, did anyone save it?
