I guess a rollcall is in order. It's 16 short days away.
I expect to see Grim, Smellis, Bad Ron, Spunk, Sweet, Fest, DC...........pardon me for having to much jager, but who else?
I wonder if Grays Harbor Mafia will make it out to the show?
Depends on his injury status I guess?!?!? We'll see. No board member will make it by me unoticed.
In a cast or wheelchair, there'd be no way I'd miss the Melvins 25th Anniversary show.
Absolutely! Have to set up a place to meet before hand.... Green Room, Alibi, Shorty's....?
Myself and Roadbull ( who is flying out from Bismarck, ND) for both Melvins shows and Big Biz on Monday!!!

Im only going to the 23rd show. I cant afford another night in seattle.
7 more days!
the webster hall reviews have gotten me excited!
Everyone going to the Seattle shows..............
They are not going to be doing the duo ( just Buzz and Dale ) stuff at these shows. Just to let you know. I figure you could just be dissapointed now, instead of that night. They won't have time due to Green River playing.
Of course, that shouldn't really matter..........Hoidini is so fucking amazing to WATCH and HEAR.

that would be cool.
Green River has Jeff Ament in it, right? He was in the news the other day gettin' robbed outside the recording studio in CA by a gang of crooks. Anyone else see that story?

I'm thinkin' of takin' the bus so I can get tanked on the way down, but fuck, the last bus back to Lynn-in-the-Hood is 11:39. Shorty's is a bit of a walk from Showbox, how's about Alibi Room, probably a little too fancy, eh? Either way, I'm pumped!!!

shorty's is a little ways...we could do a little bar hop. start at Shorty's and make our way down. hit some whiskey in a flask in between bars
I'll be there. Probably up front stage left (right) as usual.

Check craigslist for Friday's show tickets, it's gonna be better than Saturday's!
thanks man! :D
because I'm going to Seattle tomorrow
and by chance
do you know where can I find t-shirts of The Melvins in Seattle area?
I don't know any music stores in that area, is Easy Street or something like that around there?
I have never seen a Melvins t-shirt for sale at any record store in Seattle (or any type of store for that matter). I bet there's a chance they'll have some at the shows.
i'm going to the one on the 23rd...oh well.
and my friend said he seen a Melvins shirt at Zion's Gate records for sale. it's on 11th and pike i believe. or maybe 11th and Pine???
So who's meeting up with me for some pre-show drinks? I'll be at the Green Room around 7ish.
Just listened to the Boston show. I'm tingling with anticipation for tonight's show. The only part that's gonna suck is sitting through Green River...
I'm heading out now!! HELL YEAH!!! Gotta beat Mariner's traffic, Randy Johnson is pitching tonight.

](*,) Really? Guess I better leave more time than I thought to get there.
Look for me. I'll probably be the only person there wearing a Red Wings hat. I'm shortish, blonde hair, full red beard (of the playoff variety), not too thin, not too fat (ok, slightly overweight), and easy on the eyes.
I'll be there in my HAT shirt. "What? Hat-shirt? What's that? Is it a hat? Is it a shirt?." No it's a HAT shirt.
Tim Moss just walked by. Green River's set list is on the edge of the stage, and Leech is right in the middle...
Now Moss is on stage with a baseball bat, a snare, and a floor tom... What's gonna happen?
Melvins 1983, Buzz and Dale duo, Green River, and Houdini plus With Teeth and The Bit! Goodnight. Dunn rocked it. Hag Me was a nice way to open the Houdini set.
Saw Smellis who said Grim was there too, but I never saw him. Hey Smell did you get the teddy to Buzz?
Fuck, I missed the first set...what did they play during the Buzz/Dale duo segment?
Trevor Dunn was dressed as Harry Potter last night. It was he who finally introduced the legend, Dale Crover, to the crowd. Then the show ended.
So Trevor Dunn was in "wizards garb", not a MuMu.
What a night.
Last night we got the entire East Coast aet with Green River acting like a "Melvins Twinkie" to quote Mark Arm.
Buzz is a master mind. You couldn't have asked for a better show.
Like Grim said, setlist was the same as other shows, but with Green River in the middle. Mark Arm said they were the "cream filling in a Melvins twinkie." He thanked the Melvins 1983 and the Melvins 2009.
Moss and Dillard played auxiliary floor toms on Spread Eagle Beagle, and the drummer from Green River came out joined as well. That guy looked like a monkey playing the drums. I found him somewhat annoying and found it very gratifying when on the last song of the Green River set right at the climax of the guitar solo he starts doing big tom fills and slowing down like he's finishing the song. The douche was so busy twirling his drum sticks he had no idea where he was in the song. He got some pretty pissed looks and got yelled at by Mark Arm. Jeff Ament's amp completely cut out during the last song too, so he was just standing up there playing a silent bass looking to his band makes like "oh well." Other than all that screw up though Green River were very tight, just uninspired.
On the plus side... Trevor Roy Dunn. Maybe Big Business could be out on tour the next time the Melvins record and tour? Trevor rocks like nobody, and does quite well on the backup vox too. On Hag Me he was playing his bass standing on its headstock, and kind of hung himself over the top of it. Definitely the next best thing to Kevin Rutmanis and his swirly dance.
The best Melvins show I've seen at least since the 20th Anniversary at the Capitol Theater.
Does anyone know what time the Melvins actually went on stage last night (Fri @ Shobox)? I have tix for tonight @ Showbox with 8pm doors. I'm going to be cutting it close to not miss any of their set(s).
915 ish....
For being such a short trip, it was worth every cent, and every moment. I think it was probably # 1 or #2 of my all-time most amazing Melvins experiences. I wish I wasn't as drunk as I was, so the memories were just a little clearer, and I probably would've felt a whole lot better on Saturday morning. I still felt pretty queasy when I disembarked my plane ride home earlier this evening.
So to do a quick recap, I was at the Green Room early for the show, but didn't meet anyone from the board during that time. I was chatting with a couple of guys who were attempting to find tickets at the last minute. I'm curious to know if they ever made it inside. As soon as they opened the doors I beelined for the merch table and picked up a poster. I was somewhat shocked that it was priced at $50! It's a nice poster, and everyone in the Melvins and Green River signed it, but it cost me most of my spending money for the night. Afterwards, I was able to score a nice seat off to the side of the Showbox, in perfect sight of the stage, and above everyone's heads. I didn't move for the rest of the night, except for a brief bathroom break. Grim Reaper spotted me there, and bought me a drink, and I got to meet the man we know as Smellis. Spunkmonkey also came up and introduced himself. He had a very kind present for me, which I highly enjoyed. I really can't thank you enough for that gift!
The show itself was pure bliss! It seemed like there was a good vibe throughout the evening, and everyone was excited to be there. Melvins 83 was good, they played fast, and the setlist was quickly ran thru, I was left wanting more. It then transitioned with Dale coyly maneuvering from the bass to the drums, and Mike moved to one of the drums setup next to Buzz, and they begin the intro to Dwight Frye. Then Mike left and it was just the two of them blowing our minds. It was a nice suprise because I thought it wasn't going to be done at the Seattle shows. I don't remember specifically what songs they played, my memory is a bit hazy. I'd like to see a setlist for the whole show.
Not much to say about Green River. They were good, lots of high energy, and it was easy to watch them, but the entire time all I could think about was finally hearing Houdini live. My cheeks still hurt from smiling so much during the show. I was in complete awe! Highlights were Night Goat, oh yeah, then Lizzy, and they ended with Going Blind, which I was impressed with how much heavier it was than just hearing it on cd. It was a nice treat when they played The Bit. I don't remember when the last time was I had heard that live.
I met up with Grim again, and we grabbed a drink from the Green Room just before last call. He was kind enough to walk me back to my hotel which was just a few blocks away. I was really glad he did, because I wasn't in any condition to walk by myself. By the time i got back to my room, I was ready for bed. I slept for a few hrs, and woke up to a massive headache, and the feeling that I was going to do The Big Spit. It took a really long time to shake it off, and luckily I slept a little more on the plane. I was sad to be home, and wished I had stayed for the Saturday night show, but the one show I saw was enough to hold me over til the next tour.
I'm gonna keep this fairly short, as I got so drunk Friday night that I barely remember the show. Which sucks, and I was filming, which really sucks. The vid looks awful, but sounds great! Anyway, I met a ton of people Friday. Grim, Sweet, Nothingtothenotice, Smellis, Redcurlz, Spunkmonkey, Dan Raymond, John Raymond ( merch guy from ASA tour). Shit, I'm forgetting someone now. Anyway, it was a blur. So many people and too many shots does not equal a good memory. I did snap this pic off backstage. Buzz's two aluminums w/ setlists. Actually, my girlfriend had to take this pic.
I kept trying, but kept fucking the pic up. Also met Danger Ehrin from Jackass. He was filming from the soundboard area. Cool guy, fun to bullshit Melvins with. Took a pic with him backstage that I put in the post yr pic thread.
We didn't leave the venue until probably around 2am when they finally kicked everyone out. Walked back to the room we shared with Sweet and finally crashed. I enjoyed a terrible hangover the next day. But the good news is I didn't drink last night, and the vid came out pretty damn good.
I enjoyed Green River, but did anybody else think the sound was to much? Not the loudness so much as there was just to many instruments and they were a tad to much. It was pretty distorted. Other than that, No complaints.
Oh..........and I was wrong I guess about them not doing the Buzz and Dale only stuff. Dale told me in Boston it wouldn't happen. Maybe he was bullshitting me. I'm guessing they just changed their minds. Glad they did.

When they first came out on stage with three guitarists (not including bass or singer) I thought "wtf is this lynrd skynrd?" They had lots of energy, and that's about the only good thing I can say about 'em.

nice block!
I got in before the show started and then went outside with some folks. Sure, I'd been imbibing pre-arrival (tequila, Rainier, Evan Williams, Pacifico), as is par for a brilliant Friday afternoon featuring Melvins w/Dunn - and my mistake was not eating. So the door guy called me out for slurring. Damn you! Showbox doorman. Damn your pretentious air of douchbaggery. Ugh! you do nothing good for anyone.
So these reviews have been nearly cathartic. If anyone cares to share a vid of either night, your blessened.
I hope to have some up by this evening, but no guarantees.

dan raymond is buzz osborne's bestest long time pal.
not to mention educator of today's WA youth, senior member of the melvins nerdlist and all around outstanding human being.
Wasn't he also the guy who showed Buzz how to play a power chord?
He showed Buzz the power of the touch. He wrote some stories in the Melvins book.

digging up the dead here, but i was just thinking of this show and watching all the videos from it... i have to say A) i didnt care too much for green rivers set at the time and felt like it took eternity for it to end... and im listening to it now wondering if id change my mind, but no. its still kinda shitty haha glad i can say i saw it though lol. and B) houdini was cool... but it wouldve been SOOO much cooler had they done all stuff from the lukin/washington days... like had they played all stuff they wouldve played at the same time as green river. i mean they did the 83 stuff which was soooo cool! but if they wouldve done 10 songs or gluey porch treatments instead of houdini it wouldve been sooo cool!!! but maybe its cause i find houdini to be not that great in comparison to everything else theyve done.
anyway, wish i could go back in time and my age now and see both shows.
Great show and great poster.
