How great would it be if the current Melvins four piece added two more and toured/did an album as a double trio like '90s King Crimson?
Buzz/Dale/Jared/Coady/Trevor/Adam
The Melvins Sextet if you will.
supported by the melvin ex's
joe p on drum's, keys and guitar
kev r on bass
mark d on guitar
As much as I love tool, I wouldn't be pissed off in the slightest if Adam joined the melvins. I already made a post on Tool Army with that suggestion, they weren't too pleased.
I like it.
I'd be down for it. The Melvins could totally make it work
I would like to see Big Jelvins.
I love the classic simple trio of the melvins.

Yes. Hire Trevor Dunn and be Dunn with the dual drumming madness.

trevor has so many fuckin' projects that if the melvins were to take him on they would have too much free time.

hey... gloria steinem, pipe down!
what do you want? lita ford on
3rd 4th WHATEVER! guitar?
Ah, those trios.
They should add a second guitarist, in any effect. I definately like the new lineup, but double drums + louder bass + more backing vocals = need for more guitar. Kinda has taken a "backseat" in recent years.
ya, those HAT era tours where they had DSS on second guitar were amazing

2nded.
Sorry if this is kind of a late response, but I read a while back that when they did the recent Houdini shows, they played some stuff as a duo? I imagine that was Buzz and Dale? What songs did they play?
By they way, I also miss the Melvins as a power trio. 2nd guitar idea would be cool too.
Thanks.
I'd like to see a Big Melvins/Fantomas gig with Tim Moss on guitar as well. 3 Drummers, 2 Bass, 3 guitar and 1 Mike Patton. Epic.

Doing that from memory, might have them out of order.

Mike Patton. Epic.
Painful.
my dream would be an album with just Buzz&Dale (Buzz doing all the bass parts)
They need a third man. For the buying of the beer and cocaine.
i would like to see Buzz, Dale, Tim Moss and DSS and Lustmord...with Patton as long as he doesn't have a fucking microphone!!! maybe even throw Coady on a few tracks. now that would be a supergroup
Maybe Patton would work a little better if he took more of a support role, as opposed to positioning himself as a frontman. Or he could just ditch the mics and only do samples and electronics
Ditch all the mics I reckon. I used to rate Buzz's vocals but Toshi keeps on fucking it up in the mix and makes all vocals 200% louder than the rest of the band. melvins instrumental with samples would be killer.

that's my opinion exactly. he's a great songwriter and can find what fits the song. but why is he so fucking deaf when it comes to vocals?.....at least with his collaborations with the Melvins anyways

That's balls.
Wasn't the DSS tour trilogy era, not HAT? I remember seeing them at the Showbox with DSS on guitar when Leif Garrett was with 'em for Smells Like Teen Spirit (and Novoselic came out on stage with 'em for their curtain call). On the HAT tour I saw 'em at Hell's Kitchen and they were definitely just a trio. Those were both amazing shows.
As far as a Melvins sextet, I think that they sound their heaviest/best as a trio, as was evidenced at recent shows.
I would rank The Geek Tour near the bottom of tours i've been to.

Liz has internet balls. She wrote a long winded post about my wife being a drugged out zombie. I would like to see her say that stuff to her face!
