Tuesday August 11 will be upon us in short order!
Who will be attending?
Last time I saw the Melvins not headline was the Geek Tour. They played a very short set on that tour.
Ah if I can get tickets Monday I'll be there.
The first Melvins Seattle show in I don't know how many years that I'm gonna miss.
You aren't gonna come DOWN????

..had to.
just got home. was a great show. played some shit i really wanted to hear like the bloated pope and billy fish. wasnt the best melvins show ever but ill take any melvins show. Met dillard and got a pic with him. he was a nice fellow, said that a pic of my tattoo got sent to his email by somebody, i thought that was pretty cool. then talked to jared a little after the melvins played. met DC. that was cool. didnt stick around for down. idk, im just not feeling them anymore i guess. watch my buddy get jacked in the face FOR NO FUCKING REASON, fuck down fans. a bunch of pissed off dudes. ill get some pics up tomarrow. im drunk and its late. goodnight people.
That's awesome that they played The Bloated Pope, one of my favorites. While I don't particularly want a full setlist (I like to be surprised) I'd like to know about how long they played and what merch is available if someone could be kind enough to supply that information.
Shirts and possibly a poster.
Mike Klay was doing the poster, but there were none at the show. They had, as previously mentioned, the "see you in hell" shirt along with the two different color versions of the eagle from Buzz's poster. They played for 45 min - hour. Two words, Devo cover.

I'm surprised you stayed long enough for them to come on.
I really wanted to give them a chance.

I really wanted to give them a chance.
Me too.
Really, I'm sure some of them are cool.....But they sure as hell weren't anywhere near me.
I think I have a cracked rib.
I had agreat time at the show. I hooked up with a few friends of mine who are big into Weedeater, Melvins, and Down.
The opening band kicked ass. I have no idea what their name is.
It seems like Weedeater was cut short. The singer made some comments about time. I wanted to hear Gimme Back My Bullets but it didn't happen.
When the Melvins came out I got right in front of the stage and it was a fucking battle the whole time. I had it set in my mind that no one was going to move me.
Melvins tore it up. Couldn't give you a set list due to alcohol consumption.
After Melvins I moved and let these two apes take my spot and these teenagers wanted to kick my ass for violating their space. I said fuck it and walked out into the no booze area to find DC and there he was with his girlfriend and crew. He said he was leaving so he didn't have to see Down.
I stuck around. Down put on a good show but it was nothing exceptional. I am going to check out their music. I went to this bar called Motor down the street from the Showbox SoDo and over heard an interesting conversation about Down's first release. How great it was.
That was the first time I was in the SoDo Showbox and I like the place.
Saw Rhett E. Rock but by that time I was hammered. Spunk, were you at the show? Sorry I missed ya. And Nothing to the Notice too. I wanted to see your tat in person.
Three Mevins shirts only. See you in Hell and two based on the King Buzzo poster from the 25th Anniversary show.
I want to see this show again if I can squeeze it in.
Tony Aguilar from Totimoshi was helping roady for the Melvins. Didn't see anyone else I recognized.

That's fucked. Totimoshi is great!
Was this his first time helping out the Melvins?!
Grim, i agree. i dont know who that first band was, but they totally kicked ass.
"Tony Aguilar from Totimoshi was helping roady for the Melvins. "
Thats funny, I saw Meg from Totimoshi at the High on Fire show in Long Beach last night.
yea i heard Totimoshi relocated to southern california from the bay area.
I was there. I missed the first two bands. I think the first was called Davana (or somethin like that). Pissed I missed Weedeater, but I was being a good husband and father, so I got there late. Got there about 10 minutes before Melvins started, had a beer, then made my way closer. I was pretty much in the middle of the stage, right outside the pit. Even after bieng a big fan for 20 years I can't provide a set list because I still haven't bothered memorizing all the song titles. The Melvins definitely played to the crowd, and were HEAVY a nd LOUD the whole set. I gave Down a chance as I did really like their first release (haven't really heard any of their newer stuff), but left during the third song. I was always told that if you don't have anything good to say it's best not to speak, so I'll leave it at that.
PS: Just read Idle's first post on the Roseland thread, and I completely agree about the Down fans (maybe 75% of the Down fans at the Showbox were similar). I guess there was a reason that unlike any Melvin's show I've been to, there was no in/out at the venue and they did SERIOUS pat downs (heh-heh) going in.

anselmo is freaked out about getting the "dimebag darrell" treatment.
Major pat downs in PDX too.....Saw a lot of guys not get in due to having spikes on their coats, wrists, etc.....also 3 or 4 in front of me not get in due to being to hammered already.
the Regency Ballroom in SF always does pat downs no matter what.

The Roseland does too, but this was extra touchy-feely.
that sucks. i always have to sneak my pipe into the Ballroom, but once i get inside the security doesn't care if i toke.
The Filmore in SF used to do (and probably still does) pat downs, but not "take every single thing including wallets out of your pockets and hold them in your hands so we can see" type pat downs. Good thing I left my gat at home.

I seriously doubt it.
haha Grim, you were blitzed when i saw you haha. good to see you again though. i think i saw you DC, but didn't know...were you wearing a yellow shirt? yeah Melvins kicked ass. never seen or heard down before, had to give them a chance. Phil can't fucking sing worth shit anymore (not that had a high opinion of him in the 1st place). but they sucked. didn't get to see the opening bands even missed some of Pigs of the Roman Empire. my true loyalty to the Melvins was tested that day. finish getting a BJ from the girl or ensure punctuality to the show. needless to say i didn't pick the latter. and as for Down fans a.) I've never seen so many fat, hairy dudes with hot ditzy girls and b.) i've never gotten shoved so many times for no reason and have these idiots give me dirty looks. i felt like i should've taken a few steroid injections before i went to the show. and yeah i really enjoy practically getting a physical before getting let into a venue. and they wouldn't allow chain wallets either, what was the deal with that? the guy behind me looked like he as about to cry when they told him that.
Couldn't they have picked a better band to tour with? Sounds like a bit of a disaster.
