Title: next studio album?
Post by: Leroy on August 31, 2009, 07:46:44 PM
any more word on if (and when) The Melvins are planning on working on a new album?  I know it was briefly mentioned by Coady in an interview a few months back, but at that time it was maybe.

After the Down tour, I think...

I would really like for the next studio album to be Buzz, Dale, and Trevor Dunn with a return to their more experimental side(i.e. H.A.T., and Honky)

Buzz Osborne loosely quoted:  "the next album will go in a slightly different direction"

For all the talk of how different NWB was gonna be, it was remarkably similar to (a)SA.  I'm hoping the next one is ACTUALLY different.  Just one ridiculously long heavy song please, something along the lines of See How Pretty, See How Smart; At The Stake; Anti-Vermin Seed; Hag Me; etc.

He's too full of himself and he's hypocritical with his politics imo BUT he's a great entertainer, no doubt.  He's sharp and funny and if he did actually write most of the Dead Kennedys songs well he'd be one of the greatest songwriters in punk history.  I had a blast watching him perform with the Melvins in Chicago and he definitely had an old school type of stage presence and he looked like a professional that knows how to handle the worst of crowds.  Not that this crowd was but he just carried that commanding attitude.

I would have liked the chance to have seen Dead Kennedys or Jelvins live. I am not a big fan of the collaboration with Melvins, but I would like to see him live

DK was a pivotal band for my teens. the jelvins live shows were pretty cool. i totally dug the dead kennedies covers but after seeing him perform live a couple of times, (including w/ tool) and attending his spoken word events, ive come to the conclusion that i just really dont like the arrogant bastard. live jelvins = fun. studio jelvins = unlistenable. IMO.

haha, no I didn't have a bad experience with Merzbow.  His stuff is not really my thing (except the beat-oriented material), but he could still bring some creativity to the table, and might be good as long as it's not a free-form noise record (like COD).  What I meant was that it would be cool to have subtle amounts of noise, while still being able to hear the drums/guitar/bass/vocals.

nope but also if the quality was better the album would have been disappointing for me because i was expecting something new and not just a remix of WW&S.i think that album is disappointing also for this reason

According to Grandmaster Juan's calculations, he should be able to wrap Ric Flairs tits around his neck approximately 7 times. During this time Flair will pass out and die. Unlike Brutus Beefcake Grandmaster Juan will not humiliate Flair and cut off his hair as his long flabby tits are humiliating enough.

Since most emo's suffer from vitamin and mineral deficencies and Juan being no exception, The Nature Boy would only have to apply the figure 4 leglock mere seconds before Juan's brittle tibia and fibia's snap like balsa wood. Low calcium, you see...

the rest of the 4 horsemen would then decimate the broken Juan leftovers and shave his greasy head.

The Four Horsemen were girls.

Only ONE man was the master of the figure four leglock and that was Greg Valentine!

Ric Flair was just a poor man's Greg Valentine......example..... The Hammer was raking in the cash and whoopin ass in the WWF while Flair was prancing around like a fairy and waving his flabby tits making peanuts in the NWA.

Only after Valentine retired did Flair dare come to the WWF/WWE

If Flair gave me a figuer four leglock I'd snap his friggin legs like a toothpick with my Emo tree-trunks! And as I said earlier I'd then choke him to death with his flabby 9 foot tits......AFTER I crush his flabby ass neck with a piledriver Orndorff stylee!

Greg Valentine looks like a post menopausal woman. Flair was the master of the figure four. Leave it to an emo music and fashion lover to be a fan of a post menopausal woman like Valentine. It's also obvious you get moist thinking about Ravishing Rick Rude.

A Merzbow/Melvins (Merzvins?) album would be good if Merzbow approached the collaboration in the same way he approached the Rock Dream album he did with Boris

that pic would make a great t-shirt or album cover. As for the new studio album, I would like to see Mackie play bass on one album just for shits and giggles. Although in an interview I read with her the reason she gave for them not playing together was "We've played together some, not much. He plays too fast and too many weird time signatures for me. I can't keep up."
