1991 or 1994?
I assumed 1991 but I could be wrong
I always assumed 1991 as well. The CD gives no release date. The website for Your Choice was no help. Allmusic and sites that get their music info from AllMusic say 1994. All Melvins fan based sites list 1991 (could I have been part of a mass assumption? or is Allmusic wrong as usual?) I've got 100 bucks riding on this trivia, but if there is no verified sources it might be a wash. I e-mailed your choice records, so maybe there is an answer to the mystery.
*edit* Prindle lists 1992.....
100 clams?? I hope you win the bet brother
I'm quite sure it was 1992, allthough I'm not a 100% sure about it. I bought 15 copies of at that time with a friend of mine who had a record shop.
But if it's very important ask Tobby who runs (ran?) Your Choice: info@yourchoicerecords.de.
best Melvins live album ever,Buzzo won't agree with me though :(
i know i don't have the rerelease. the back is different. it doesn't list revulsion. i think i bought it in '92.
Had to be '91, couldn't have been '94.....However, the LP & the CD have no copyright date anywhere on the packaging or the Lp/disc themselves....so if your betting on '94, that really your only shot...but even the next one,Vol.13(Various Artists), with 'It's Shoved' ,which was left off of the Melvins Vol. 12, was released in '91.

Not sure how reliable that info is, because it's user generated.
I've always thought it was 1991. I have it stacked it my collection as if it came out before Bullhead but I'm not sure if that's true.
It was recorded when they went on tour with Steel Pole Bathtub. There is a SPBT Live-7" on Your Choice from the show.
Oh, did I mention, that I have a videotape of both bands playing Copenhagen on that tour?

I have mine stacked in my collection after Bullhead came out but before Eggnog. I have no clue which one of us is right

Well...'Tanked' is an early version of 'Wispy'. So, since they changed the name before it was put on Eggnog & all of the 'Bullhead' tracks have the correct names.....probably came out, or at least recorded, before Eggnog came out.
Fact: Recorded in 1991. Released in 1994.

I don't mean to sound arrogant but, that's all there is to it, really. I remember when it came out. Right before 'Stoner Witch'. I was "there", man.
It was obviously recorded in 1991, preceding Bullhead / Eggnog as evidenced by an early version of Wispy, (mentioned earlier). And they also talk about "a new song, from our new record"...before launching into Anaconda.
creepy

Read your fanclub newsletters..... in the very first issue (dated spring 1993) it's mentioned in the discography.

Don't you mean Buzz in the box? I simply cannot list a favorite album/year. I have recently repurchased some oldies and each one is my new favorite (Stag, Stoner Witch, Bullhead). Prior to those, I enjoyed in order, Lysol, Houdini, A Senile Animal, and Hostile Amb. Takeover. I'm sure I'm missing some other favs.
Those repurchases have been GREAT LISTENING. It's new all over again. See, there is something new and it's wild and it's new. Well maybe more lovely than wild!
Looking forward to some disc golf and music festival up in the Catskills!

What I mean by this, is simply, that I was sort of part of that whole 'Your Choice' series. Tobby Holzinger is actually a relative of mine. Not through blood, but marriage. We had spoken only a couple times prior to the Melvins release, but he valued my input and appreciated my taste in music. Not to toot my own horn, but I was the one to suggest the Jawbox release in 1994. I remember when the Melvins live record came out it was after Houdini had been released (though obviously had been recorded much earlier). Tom mailed me a copy with a slew of animal rights crap (stickers, flyers and posters)
"animal rights"? animals have the right to be eaten in a tasty fashion.
The All Music site is correct.

Something's not right..... in the first Melvins newsletter (spring '93) it says:
"
Album update: Melvins will go back into the studio in April to finish their Atlantic debut tentatively titled Houdini. The band has been writing and recording songs in sections and in various different studios. Some song titles: Hooch, Lizzy, Set Me Straight, Copatche (sic), Sky Pup, Joan Of Arc, Gibby, Pearl Bomb and Night Goat. Look for the album in June or July or maybe September."
Yeah, Your Choice Live (though recorded earlier) was officially released between Houdini and Stoner Witch.

No.
Before Houdini.
There is no way in hell 'Melvins Your Choice Live' was released after Houdini Because it was in my record collection before Houdini came out.
I bought 'Melvins Your Choice Live' at Vinyl Ink Records in Siver Spring, MD when I was still in collage '89-'93.....and I know I owned it before the 3 solo albums & Lysol.
Now, it may have been reissued in '94, but that would be the only answer.......I bet the CD came out in '94.
And, and, I have no idea why I give a shit.

What "collage" did you go to? The kind where they frown upon learning how to spell? Hope you didn't spend too much on it...
