the guy that makes that site is the one that put out the thing, i've never heard it myself though, it was mostly people on melvins-l that were involved. maybe if you email him he will have some copies left or soemthing.

i had had it but i deleted it becouse i thought it sucked :)
Heh. I didn't want to say anything because someone would say "hey asshole, these guys worked really hard and you didn't do jack shit", but yeah, that album was pretty much amateur hour.

I think every Melvins collection should have this release.
There are some good moments, Smells Like Bakersfield, the cover of SweetWilly Rollbar and Revolve to name a few.
You can download it and the cover art for the small fee of $5.00 if I remember correctly, some priests and one of the Baldwin Brothers on the cover.
Anyone know Ace Freley's involvement? We tried to discuss this before.
I'm resurrecting this topic because I just got one off eBay. It was the first time I'd seen one; I know the reviews are pretty mixed but still I'm curious. It should arrive in the next ten days or so.
I expect some board members are even on it, no?
What is this? A mid-90's odds and sods comp of live stuff or something similar?

It's a Melvins tribute CD with nine bands doing Melvins covers and their own stuff too.
From the Old News pages:
Monday, May 14, 2001.

Oh that doesn't sound all that much of an essential purchase then. Well at least to me.
I made it through a quick scan of about 5 songs before I deleted it off of the harddrive years ago.
Amoeba was handing these out for free and no one cared.

A fan generated tribute to the Melvins.
Ben AKA Green Honey names the Melvins.net tribute Volume 2 in respect to this release.
The artwork and music were downloaded.
The original song "Smells Like Bakersfield" made perfect sense to me as I drove past Bakersfield, Ca on I-5.
The "Revolve" cover by Boogie Squid is one of my favorites. Downloading took forever when this was released (for my computer anyway). I would start the download, forget about it and then "Revolve" would come on an hour later.
Everyone hated this back in the day, but I liked it for what it is, just a bunch of people off the nerd list playing some Melvins.
If anyone wants one, PM me and I'll put you in touch with the guy who still has some for sale.

I downloaded one for $5 back in the day. Then I had to cut out the cover and burn a disc myself.
I'd like to get a "real" copy. Sounds like this guy has them.
I'm curious to know if this holds up to the We reach melvins tribute CD?
I only ever heard that once or twice and I don't think it is anything to rave about, though a couple of good tunes were here and there.

No. Chanting is a DIY release.
Just stumbled across this thread on Google and had a good laugh. Figured I would share the background of this album...
Conceived of in 2000 on the melvins-l mailing list. The goal was to create a fan-created lo-fi album. Anyone on the melvins-l list that wanted to submit a song was welcomed, but they had to submit 1 cover and 1 original. A few of the bands were established, and a few were noise-makers (including myself haha).
I was young and poor, but nobody else wanted to take on the challenge. I had shitty equipment (inkjet printer, pentium computer & Cool Edit Pro), I made a lot of mistakes and I learned a lot. There were 4 printings done in May 2001... 50 copies each. So 200 copies total, each numbered and dated the exact date I burned & printed them. 75 went overseas to Europe and Australia. 20 were given to the Melvins directly, which is probably how they ended up at Amoeba records in LA. And each band got 10 copies.
The title was a reference to an old radio interview where they were asked "What is the title of your next album?" and Buzzo kept yelling "The Channnnnting of the Priiiiieests."
Most of the album was lo-fi and annoying... which really was the goal. It wasn't about making a commercial attempt, but at having fun and making something underground. There were a couple really good songs on there, and a few really interesting ones (not necessarily good). Could it have been done better? For sure. Did we have fun and actually accomplish a community goal? Yes!
I do not have any copies left myself, except the master and the copy I had Melvins sign, but I would be willing to upload the master files if there is any interest.

I started this thread. What is up with natural male enhancement?

Melvins wikipedia entry.
It might Go up on your shelf next to the WE REACH Comp. CD if you picked that up...but I sure as hell didnt.
There were only about 3 Decent Tracks on that one. I could have done a better job covering a few tings myself.

Sorry dude, I've already had a band called "Chanting of the Priests" since 2007. We need a roadie though. I've read you've been working out this past year? You could lift a stack, yeah? Up like stairs an' shit too? If so you could be our "alter boy".
