We did this last tour. Spill some for this tour.
Personally I'd love to hear Boston's Foreplay/Longtime.
Foreplay in the classic Melvins way. Longtime in the shortened, beefed up Melvins way.
Raw Power
Boston, Kansas, Styx they all blow dude
Melvins are best at being Melvins.
That Detroit rock city cover was a drag also.
Anyhoot, How about a Zeppelin cover :-k
Zeppelin would be good.
Kansas and Styx surely blow.
Boston on the other hand have some great songs.
Zep? The Rover. Especially hearing Dale and Coady playing that drum part? Phenomonal.

22 going on 23
protect me you
time of the season
an entire cover of the beatles the end (i recognized the drum solo)
I love Time of The Season ( Zombies), but I cannot see it being covered.
I'm trying to envision songs in a Melvins way. I just can't getaway from seeing Foreplay being done by them. With or without Longtime. Maybe Foreplay is to obvious.
Five was great, the Fleetwood mac cover was great.. I wouldn't be upset if they just did those again.
The Fleetwood Mac Judas Priest cover?
I would like to see that again :)
But I still cannot getaway from Foreplay. Go listen to it and imagine it in that heavy Melvins way. It's a headbanger without them.

Black Juju by Alice Cooper

The sound quality isn't great but it's not very hard to picture the Melvins doing an amazing cover of this song. Just imagine Dale and Coady playing the opening drum beat...
I reckon they should cover Down.
LIIIFFEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR
the song Black Sabbath from BS first album would be great, maybe with Dale hitting a huge gong as intro
The should nail the Doobie Brothers classic "Long Train Running".
people. people, we really need to hear Godzilla medley'd into Cities on Flame with RocknRoll
Limp Bizkit - Nookie.
brass monkey

Black Juju by Alice Cooper
Total Agreement ... I brought this song up in a post a couple yrs. ago (too lazy to go look for it thou). With their obvious love for the old Alice Cooper Group stuff, it has always boggeled my mind that they have never sunk their teeth into this gem ... tailor made for the Melvins without a doubt!
Others??
Anything by the Fugs
Anything by the Blasters
Annalisa - PIL
I'm a Boy - The Who
Journey to the Center of the Mind - The Amboy Dukes
Damaged II - as in the very awesome Pussy Galore version of this classic Flag jam
Too Parter, Jimi, Mexican Carvan, BBQ the Pope ... pretty much any Surfers stuff (the Melvins cover of Cherub was too fuckin awsome to leave the worship there)
Sacrifice....
...
BY MOTORHEAD!!! The double-drums doing the solo big would be batfucked.
I strongly agree with (and I think have mentioned before): the entire Abbey Road b-side, Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath, and Black JuJu...
and a blue oyster cult song or two!
hanzy likes boston. its more than a feelin.
*kicks himself*
Boston rule! Tom Scotz? was sick man!
King Crimson - Cat Food

Zappa - The Mammy Anthem

^clip by Mike Keneally/Rick Musallam ^ Frank opened sets with this in '82/'84. I always liked it better as the live instrumental.
Cat Food is ill! Jarhead and Coady could do those harmonies

This will be their next album title. I can see the cover now, complete with afros, bellbottoms, brown suede fringe, and peace signs.
As far as covers, I doubt it will happen, but I would be strongly in fair of Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath, or Fairies Wear Boots...
Mississippi Queen by Mountain. I think this song would have potential. Has a Melvins feel to it.
Dancing madly backwards by capt. beyond
Get toshi up on that stage and do halo of flies.
I'd like to see a medley of Gary Glitter songs Rock and Roll, Do you wanna touch, and I didnt know I loved you (till I saw You rock and roll). Sludge up with 2 drummers would kill it.

How about the Melvins just focusing on writing an entire new album (not an ep plumped out like Nude) without the covers?

Any Cramps song.
Human Fly comes to mind.
" and I say Buzzbuzzbuzzz and it's just becuz... "
No brainer : 'Waitin' for the bus' by ZZ Top.
I say some Big Business stuff. Mind the Drift...Here Come the Waterworks...either one, any song...
I know they already did "Another Fourth of July...Ruined" and they should do more!
James Gang - The Bomber
Nillson - Jump into the Fire
Ween - The Grobe
Humble Pie - I Don't Need No Doctor
Nervous Shakedown - AC/DC
I'll think of more
Ween should do Black Bok, I know that much.
These songs I've felt would be great covers for a long time:
Bridge of Sighs - Robin Trower
Hellbound Train - Savoy brown
Guess I'll Go Away - Johnny Winter
pink fairies - uncle harry's last freakout
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbiClJthb64
although no sane person would ever want a melvins show to come to an end, having a good closer definitely helps to ease the pain. this one could be the follow up of the wipers cover of youth of america from in this new decade.
pink fairies - teenage rebel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwsSbP2RHlM
the pink fairies had two drummers way before the melvins had, not only because they are a much older band than the melvins but because much like our most beloved band, they were a visionary band. if this song doesn't rock your balls off, you should seriously start questioning how you have been listening to rock music so far. the song ends with a double-drum solo that would make dale proud.
i'd like them to bring "Youth of America" back and "Lexicon Devil"
I'd love to hear these songs covered by
our Lawds
In their own special way
The Q65 - I got nightmares
The Beatles - Maxwell's Silver Hammer (If they haven't already done so)
FLOOR - Iron Girl
Lightning Bolt - Dracula Mountain or Mega Ghost or Dead Cowboy
Robert Johnson - Hellhound on My Trail or From Four 'Til Late
SABERTOOTH ZOMBIE - Flee Creep And Cheat or Lady Death Is Into Hot Rods And Meth Addicts
Terry Reid - Seed of Memory
At The Drive In - Enfilade
THRONES - Coal Sack ( For the Irony)
TORCHE - Healer or preferablly Tarpit Carnivore (Melvins perhaps tuning to Z for a song
would probably be epic in my opinion)
Wintersleep - Danse Macabre
ANGRY SAMOANS - They saved Hitlers Cock or Lights Out
David Bowie - Space Oddity
Anything by DRIVE LIKE JEHU
And Uhhh....That's all I got for now :)

I can hear Jared singing this. Kinda sounds like him already.
I'd also like to see the Melvins
play songs by the Whip.
Sheep Goat judgement and Freelance Liason
are the only two songs I have ever listened
to But I personally think
This band should've lasted longer.
The 7'' THey recorded

A Few KARP songs would be the icing on the cake! :microwave:

great idea!! though I would love to hear a cover of King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man as JZS mentioned already
"America Drinks And Goes Home" (Zappa/Mothers Of Invention) w/ Neil Hamburger on guest lead vocals.
That would make a great set closer.
April Wine already covered it and they did a helluva version. On par with
King Crimson's original version if you ask me. And you will. Ask me.

I'm down with these but I'd like to hear them do 'You Sexy Thing' by Hot Chocolate
and 'Mr Blue Sky' or 'Evil Woman' by ELO. I'm also seriously into hearing them do
a B.O.C. song like 'Godzilla', 'Cities On Fire', or 'Burnin' For You' etc.

Any early B.O.C. would be cool, EXCEPT those two songs which have been covered to death. Burnin For You is an awful song.
they could make it good tho! I picture some off-kilter harmonies
