Title: Live Melvins Albums
Post by: (((O))) on February 13, 2010, 06:38:06 AM
I wish the band would release some more live records. Houdini Live is awesome and can you imagine how great it would be to have some proper releases of some past gigs. I think it may be my dream that one day that European festival show from 2003 with Kevin thats on Youtube will see an offical release myabe in the form of a CD/DVD. Now that would be something eh!!! Come on Melvins get with those live recordings!!!!

There should be a "Dick's Picks" type of thing a la live CDs of The Grateful Dead. Random shows would be fine.

Is anyone else really disappointed w/Melvins vs. Minneapolis?  The sound quality of most shows is terrible.

I love that release. Some of the shows sound really bad, others sound good. Overall, I like it a lot.

best live recording ever

Never heard that one but i remember Buzz saying it wasn't a very essential release. Just as long as it sounds better than Alive At The F*cker Club!
i think it's a great live recording..especially the drum sound is incredible.Buzz said that because probably there was some problem with the dude who released the album...if i remember correctly

EDIT

Well, I actually - the only I don't have is the Your Choice Live Series one.
Oh, I don't think you need that one.

Really?
Nah.

But it's the only one I don't have.
Okay, you don't have it but do you really need it? Nah. I mean, we might end up re- releasing it soon anyway. It was done right around the time of - after we had recorded Bullhead but before it came out. It was recorded in Europe under adverse circumstances.

What adverse conditions? Was this when Lori -
We just didn't want to do the record! I mean, this guy asked us if we'd let him release a live album and we said we wouldn't do it unless he came up with a certain amount of money. I think it was like two grand, which was an outlandish amount for us at that time. So anyway, we're in Europe and he shows up at the show. This is dirt! This is good!

I'm all ears!
So he shows up with money and I'm like `Oh shit, I forgot about this.' I didn't actually think he'd give us 2 grand. I guess I should have said 50,000! Anyway, so we did it and it's kinda weird. It's okay.

Oh. Just okay?
Yeah, I mean it's fine. It's not gonna make pelvises move or anything.

Uh huh?
But I mean, it's good if you like.. good.

Okay.
If you're into good, it's good.

I see.
No really, it's fine... IT RULES!

Oh wow! So it's awesome? Great, I'll pick it up soon!
Yeah, it's really uh. it's really great!

I agree!  Short, raw, and great!  Buzz saying "Ok goodnight."  after a mere 20min cracks me up every time.

Check out this bootleg dude.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRvV-1jbBVA  Just make sure to watch it in full screen.  Maybe I'll mail the dvd to someone someday so there will be more than two in existence.

When you're there the lighting looks pretty good.  The bootleg looks pretty good too.  The bootleg on youtube...not so much.  It seems to be a bit darker for some reason.
