I emailed them about this and, sure enough, their reply was:
The slotted release date is June. Stay tuned to our blog/twitter, they'll be further info available there as the release approaches.
It's funny. They (Isis, Mastodon) play music that I can't play. However, I don't write them off as sucking. They actually make great music. I would agree that other bands they associate with may have the potential for serious suckage, but they themselves have not sucked, nor put out a sucky record.
But...this is the melvins board, and I'm quite certain the consensus of the few and the elder will have their exclusionary principals heard.

I also know something else.
It said on their site it would be released sometime in the first 6 months of this year.

I saw Isis open for Neurosis 10 years ago, they were a weak, pale imitation of Neurosis then and I saw them again in 2006 with Jesu and they only had become more horrible. I listen to lots of extreme music that doesn't use clean vocals and there is no room for Isis in those ranks, because they suck. No innovation, just watered down copycats of things that came before.
although i don't like Isis i think there's nothing wrong with this split, especially considering both bands are good friends and Isis are huge Melvins fans

Isis is decent. I like Oceanic & Panopticon the best. The last two albums are alright, they don't hit me the way previous ones do. I don't get the "nice" vocals on the last two. I don't know for sure, but some of it almost sounds auto-tuned.

Don't fuck with Mastodon, though. I saw them play Crack the Skye in its entirety, and my mind is not the same.

Yeah i used to really love Boris but now i can take 'em or leave 'em with regards to most of their songs.
It also dosen't help that virtually every time they do a split, the other band looks better because Boris' song(s) on said split are absolute shit. Except the split with Stupid Babies Go Mad (And even then, SBGM's part of that DVD is soooo much more fun to watch.) and the Doomriders split (Where both bands sucked and it was like, 430000 bucks.)
Hydrahead has released a lot of boring stuff but when they release something good its really good - and the vinyl they put out is drool-worthy. (Yes, that's mostly a reference to A(S)A.)
I've seen both Isis and Mastodon live... Actually really enjoyed Isis. I only enjoyed Mastodon becuase they were opening for Slayer along with Children of Bodom and Lamb of God which made Mastodon look awesome in comparison. Slayer blew them all away, of course.

Well me thinks that perhaps Down are known more if we were to do a head count but certainly not as good!
All I was sayin' was, from a practical point of view, the Melvins job is to 1. make great music & 2.generate new fans.
So it makes sense that they would want to try to be heard by other music 'clicks',that you hardcore mutha fukas don't

What if I ordered through Amazon? Will I just get black do you think or do they assign some random color for me?
Hey. I don't know if anyone else here has ever ordered an LP from Amazon, but I was unhappy w/my Nude W/Boots. They package stuff the same as books and CDs w/tight shrink-wrapping on a cardboard back. It was wrapped so tight that the album was slightly bending on top abd bottom. It flattened out, but I was unhappy and probably won't order vinyl from them again. Just figured I'd give a warning.

i don't think that's specific to Amazon...i think the entire pressing of NwB was a bit wonky, and the merch table pretty much acknowledged this by selling it for $10. i took a look at a handful of LPs and they were all a bit off. i haven't played the copy i bought yet, but i don't think it will be unplayable. a bit of a warp (more of a center buckle), but still should be ok.
The LP wasn't warped like I know a lot of them were. It's just the way Amazon packages LPs that bent the slipcase (not sure if that's what you call a record's box). Luckily, it flattened out when put between stuff.
So would it be better to buy this at the show or online? I suppose I can see if I can either sneak it out to my car before the show starts.

Motorhead-I Got Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9Qr8G0Lrvs#)
Just got mine today from BlueCollar Industries.
About two lbs of clear pink vinyl.
No way this is going to warp.
Came with an Isis and (the)Melvins guitar picks.
Too cool...wish they had some of these on tour.
Mine (black) just arrived from Amazon. Sleeve totally mangled due to poor packing and the record was warped and unplayable. Totally bummed. Will not be ordering LPs from Amazon again.
Is it possible to "unwarp" vinyl? I've heard someone mention that you just place the record between two things and it will flatten out. Does there need to be heat involved? If so, how much. Probably don't just set it out in the sun all day sandwiched between two heavy books, huh? Seeing as how this thing is sold out everywhere, I don't want to fuck it up.

1. find a flat surface.
2. place 12" piece of cardboard on said surface.
3. center your warped record,in it's paper inner sleeve, on cardboard & place another 12" piece of card board on that.
4. get a nice solid, flat piece of wood, about a 1/2 inch thick, that is at least 14"x14" and center it on top of that.
5. stack a shit load of the biggest books you can find on top of the wood, put the widest/longest books on first.
6. leave it for 4-5 weeks...no peeking.
7. remove all the stuff and enjoy your flat LP.

Cool! Thanks. Room temperature?
I put it up on my website:

When I have time, I'll try to figure out how to post a download link. If anyone is familiar with divshare, and wants to help, that would be cool. I'll also work on getting the new Prince album up. The file I downloaded is giving me trouble.
How 'bout making 'em downloadable? I bought the record, but can't listen to the songs.

Thanks in the meantime!
I tried to order a copy from some Ebay seller and then got a message from them saying that they couldn't fill my order.
I went into Wax Trax in Denver yesterday and was able to snag the last copy that they had.

I REALLY like the heaviness of "I'll finish you off." Much better than TBSM =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I think all you have to do is click the divshare logo on the top right corner of the player to download. Let me know if this isn't working.
got mine in the mail today and the cardboard sleeve is all fucking dented to shit. so pissed!!
or they don't give a shit, the pull and pack guys they hire are 3 steps
below the average McDonalds trainee in the IQ department, and probably
earn less

Cool! Seems to be working. Thanks dude!
I'll Finish You Off sounds good. It's actually different then the album version. The same cannot be said for
Pig House, which I think it the exact same! Correct me if I'm wrong.
your wrong 8)
Pig house IS a different version.
OK. So I fixed the problem and posted the Prince album if anyone wants it.
I have 4 pink and purple marbled, looking to trade/sell.
Need a copy of stag and stoner witch. Willing to trade all/some + cash if needed.
Thanks
BK

Just got an email from HH that they have mailed me sumthin!
also got an email that it has been shipped more than 3 weeks ago, but nothing showed up yet...
someone else hasn't got them from blue collar distro yet?
Not sure if this got posted already:
"There's an ongoing dispute about the sound quality of the Isis/Melvins split LP
Mine arrived from amazon.com in a box big enough for all of Imelda Marcos's shoes. It was sheer luck that it wasn't damaged under all the weight of that bubble wrap. Imelda Marcos once said "It's the rich you can terrorize. The poor have nothing to lose", by the way, which I thought was witty.
My warped record is still sitting under a giant stack of shit in a (probably) futile attempt to flatten it out. I think there is like 4 weeks left until I can pull it out and take a look. Never again Amazon. Never. Again.
A semi-favorable review for the Melvins contribution to the split

How many of these were pressed? And were they ALL damaged. Mine turned up shrink wrapped and completely fucked. I ordered two (one for a mate) and of them is actually unplayable, the other is just severely scratched and covered in fingerprints.
Anyone know what pressing plant they used? so i know never to use them!
Mine was perfectly fine. Direct from Hydra Head, the color I picked was black.
Didn't know there were colour choices.
I do know conspiracy had to send ALL 160 copies they got back!
Total mess this pressing has been. i don't envy the HH or the distro's positions
I played my pink marbled one today for the first time. That's not a play on words although it should be. It played perfectly; in fact the vinyl is so heavy I imagine it's unwarpable. I haven't taken the black one out of its shrinkwrap so I can't account for that one. Kinda like the Isis songs but the production is a bit too 'nice' really.
It's curious; I'm not sure why were seeing problems with records from HH as well as Ipecac.

It's not been a terribly good vintage, this year, has it? HH have always sent perfect vinyl to me so far. Haven't got any Ipecac vinyl except Melvins and it has been fine, too. (Haven't opened my Nude With Boots LP to see how good/bad it is, though.)

Never had any problems with Hydra Head vinyl.
All other hydrahead LPs i have bought have been Pirates Press ones (who use GZ in Czech). This new one is not a Pirate press, no idea where it was done but it is appalling they would pass it off as sellable.

I've bought a lot of Hydra Head vinyl.. Never had a problem. In fact I'd say It's all
Very high quality.
-I bought one of the splits at the Merch booth on the last tour. It plays fine and seems to be made very well.
Got a second one off of Amazon, cause I pre-ordered it (should of gotten it from HH)- I guess I'm lucky, It showed up in good shape. Haven't opened it to play though.
