Looking forward to tonight, I have to pull a shift this morning, grab my gear, then drive two hours and book into the hotel with two buddies who have never seen the melvins (or isis) before (let alone know their music). I talked them out of going to a red sox game for this show.
This will be shows number 4 and 5 for me, and they can play any fucking thing they want. They are NEVER disappointing.
I'll be there tonight. Can't wait! I'm driving in from Albany, NY. Bringing two first time Melvins "Virgins', myself. I look forward to seeing their heads get torn off.

Due to it selling out I had to cough up $109 for two tickets on Stubb Hubb but it's worth it. Making the 2 hour & 15 min drive.
Monday's show isn't sold out but this is the one the Melvins are headlining so fuck tomorrow's show.

Just got back from the show, it was incredible. I was the first person in the door, the box sets are completely sold out for the tour.
Totimoshi went on first, then the Melvins, then Isis. Tomorrow should be the Melvins' headline show.

Totally pissed off, tonight was "supposed" to be the Melvins headline show and it wasn't.
Also, the crowd was dead.
Isis is playing last at every show they are on.
Melvins gave them the "headline" spot when they announced their breakup.
The show was AWESOME!! We got to Boston a bit after 7, should have been earlier but we lost over an hour stuck in traffic coming from NY. We got to the door and had a bit of a scare, one of the dudes I brought DIDN'T BRING HIS ID!! #-o #-o RETARD! I almost hit him. We're over three hours from home, and you didn't bring your Id? We were real cool and talked our way in, I honestly couldn't believe they let him. I was fully prepared to let him wander Boston for a few hours, and listen to the show from the alley out back. While standing out front, waiting. I saw Jeff Lachance deliver the Boston poster. So once inside it was straight to the Merch table. First thing NO BOX SETS! -Walsby hinted that their might be some down the road, but he was pretty aloof about it. They had both new shirts (L & XL only) $20, Belt Buckles $10, The "Roccos Adventures" Mag Which is awesome, grab one. They do have the split 12", no color options. They have ASA and NWB on vinyl also. They did have used drum sticks! Dale and Cody I grabbed one of each. They only had a few of those, get there early if you want one. No official price Walsby said make an offer, 'Five Bucks Each?' Done. They had to open the box for the Boston poster for me. Got the first one! $20.
-So after spending all my money, I was bringing the Merch back to the car. I look up and Dale Crover is walking toward me! I felt like such a fan boy. I'm just like "Hi there" -(carrying poster/two drum sticks/a 12"/a magazine/two shirts etc..)- He said Hi. My friends were like "Who was that?" "Only the greatest drummer ever" I said.
- We got dinner before the show, great Thai @ Brown Sugar thanks to Tinnitus (Thank You) Really good food!
So Melvins were NOT headlining, like everyone, including my self thought. The ticket lady said that Melvins gave the headlining spot to Isis for all their dates togeather. Bummer.... Big Bummer. But I was still seeing Melvins and could leave early once Isis started boring me (that would be after 3-5 songs)
Melvins came on @ 9:30 SHARP. Dale and Cody have new matching outfits sort of a kung fu outfit with big fuzzy shoulder pads, Amazing. Buzz had a new Mu mu also same as the medical one. But with H.A.T. inspired donkeys on it. Jared's outfit is ridiculous it's like He-Man meets Ace Freeley.
The set was killer. Every time I see this lineup it's better. So tight! The set list was same as they've been doing, the new stuff sounds so great live, and the old stuff is totally fresh sounding. Black Stooges KILLED. Pig house I really enjoyed But the Lysol stuff @ the end was by far the highlight of the evening. Hung Bunny, even though it was abbreviated sounded EPIC and right into Roman Dog Bird. I could have died happy right there. Jared and Cody seemed really into playing the old stuff too. Just perfect, the only thing that would have made it better would have been.. More Melvins. I was supprised they didn't play My Generation, being that it is kind of the centerpiece of the new album. All in all awesome night . Hope they never stop touring.
they had the belt buckles at your show? I specifically asked for one at the DC show and was told there were none. Bummer.

Still really pissed we got 5 songs short because ISIS decided to break up. They're playing two damn shows there, it's really unnecessary to let them headline both.
Once again, would like to say very disappointed with the crowd there. There was no movement at all and it seemed like half the people weren't familiar with any song that came out before 2006.

the crowd was indeed dead for the melvins, picked up a little for isis. i know myself and my friends did. we got there a little late so we were in the back for the melvins, but yea, just lots of head nodding going on. hopefully it's a little more energetic tonight. the show was still awesome though.
one of my friends forgot her ID as well, she is 21 and had to show the dude multiple credit cards, and her triple A card which was registered in 2007 to prove she was over 18. haha. funny shit. whoever is reading this, don't forget your id.
I left after the Melvins' set not so much because of my feelings for Isis, but because nobody on earth could have followed what had just transpired, especially the Hung Bunny/Roman Bird Dog Bird finale. Awesome how they book-end the set with the Lysol stuff.
By the way, I'm pretty sure Isis is closing all the shows they're doing together for the simple reason that Totimoshi uses the Melvins' gear. The singer/guitarist appears to be handling a lot of their live sound, too.

No hate here, there is a lot of intensity in their performance. However, not my type of music. Regardless I watched their whole set.
Hell yes @ AMAZON, by far my highlight of the night. I'm not one who "moshes" the entire show but I like when people are at least moving. I like to kind of move around and get in a little groove. Just standing in one spot head-banging is something I can do at home, it's the movement that adds to a
live show experience. I wanted to loose it during Pig House, AMAZON & Talking Horse but alas the crowd didn't call for it.
Also, it seems 80% of the people there weren't even familiar with Sacrifice, it's as if the show began when Civilized Worm came on.
Once again, very bummed Isis headlined. We still got a great fucking show (15 songs is a standard headlining # for a lot of bands) but not the EPIC 2 hour show I expected.
Effing fantastic.
Where to begin?
My buddies left their fucking tickets at home on the way, so that was a 30 minute delay right there. We pull into Boston, decide to check into the Inn before the show. I figured doors didn't open until 8pm, so I had plenty of time. My friend checks the ticket. "Dude...the doors open at 7pm"
Check the watch: 8 fucking 30pm.
Running down the street now (running!) waiting for my friend who incidentally doesn't even have a ticket for the show but will try his luck with the scalpers outside. We stop at the venue and I crack wise with the duly officiated wristband guy "What?! This isn't all ages? Times have changed..."
I get inside, snake my way to the back of the venue, hear TOTIMOSHI. They rock. They roll. They pummel. I'm hungry.
Back to the front, where the bar is. 17dollars later, my guiness is gone and I am scarfing Fish and Chips. The fish and chips at Club Paradise is fucking fantastic. The steak fries are great and the filets are fucking huge and crisp. My buddy is standing behind me.
"Where were you?!" he asks. "You left me outside!"
"Dude, I was hungry and thirsty. How'd you get in?"
"You won't believe this!" He says. "Some guy outside said his friends bailed on him and he wanted to sell me a ticket. I asked "How much", and he says "Well, I paid like 24 dollars for them", and I said "I only have twenties, so like, I have forty dollars." and he says, "Oh okay, here's fifteen back." "
No lie. Before the show (which was indeed sold out) tickets were going on eBay for 435 bucks. What effing luck this kid has (for his first Melvins show/ 5th ISIS show)!
So my other friends arrive now, fashionably late because they had to stop by Junkyard Dogs and grab some eats (just had them today at 12:45AM. Good stuff) and we start buying rounds. Jameson. Guiness. Vodka Redbulls(their choice, I personally didn't care too much for them). Harpoon IPA.
Now it's time for the little green box that says MELVINS/THANKS and the swing music from the 30's. Wait. Wait. Cue triumphant entrance music.
Sacrifice! My arms go into X's over my head, drunk head-banging ensues, and nobody on the floor moves or sings. What the fuck is going on in Boston these days? Throughout theMelvins whole set I get guys with their arms crossed, elbowing me because I'm apparently a drunk fool whose moving too much for their tastes! Nobody to joke around with.
Anyways, you've seen the setlist. It fucking owns. theMelvins were kind enough to give their friends the Headlining Spot on this tour (for both nights!) which appealed to the majority of the concertgoers anyways.
I talked to Mr. Walsby at the Merch table. Last time I saw him was in Wyoming, Grand Tetons, at like a ski lodge, and he remembered. Cool. I picked up a hilarious sketch he made of Steve Albini professing his A) Loooooooovee for the Melvins and B) his lack of talented song writing. Show Poster by LaChance is sweet. Framing that with the Walsby print and the Bride Screamed Murder Signed Booklet (and concert Ticket).
Hilarious moments of the night:
Stumbling into Upscale Tap Room after show. Restaurant is obviously closing. I ask, "Are's your bars open?" They efficiently, and understandably, reply "No."
Model Cafe was open. Hipsters in the back, next to a Galaga Machine, laughing about how they haven't listened to Isis for 5 years, and theMelvins are still playing? Maybe they'll go to the next night's show. I get annoyed with them and inadvertently challenge them to play my buddy in a Galaga competition. I tell them, "Don't worry. The Celtics still won in my mind." My friend beats them at Galaga. More beer is drunk. Fuckin' Boston.
Redneck Barbecue is recommended. I ask for a side of roast pork with onion and scallions. My buddy orders for me, as I can't talk to save my life, nor order food to satitate my hunger. Strange round human boy appears at our table while we wait for our food, with gigantic headphones on and a pill washed look about his eyes that scream diazepram or demerol or a codone of some sort. He mutters in the manner only a psychotic homeless man can, "Hey you guys got a smoke?"
I may have yelled, in response, "We don't fucking smoke." He stares at the table. He stares at us. We stare back. Straightfaced. Leslie Neilson moment. Akward. Kid shambles off to his table and watches us. Interesting. Our food comes. My order has been circumvented with waffle fries, piled with melted nacho cheese pork onions and scallions. What the fuck is this, eh? I'll tell you what the fuck this is: Drunk food.
Epic quest finding our way back to the hotel, walking, at 3:30 in the AM. We pass by a building inscribed with the words "BACON CHAMBERS".
The part where theMelvins do military cadence speak on the Water Glass? "Here we Go. Here we Go." That has now been replaced with "Fish and Chips. Fish and Chips."

In one of the first ATPs that was going to be held at UCLA, Groening was curating, and the Melvins were going to be there. Thanks a lot Osama/9/11 for getting THAT cancelled! :x
