sorry if this has already been talked about (i'm sure it has)... but what the hell is it with the melvins and animals?
(in order from earliest to latest, i used discogs to make sure i didn't forget anything, i'm sure i did)
eye flys
snake appeal
cow
hog leg
hung bunny/roman dog bird
spread eagle beagle
punch the lion
goose freight train
june bug
tipping the lion
skin horse
lovely butterfly
pigs of the roman empire
pink bat
pigskin
the talking horse
civilzied worm
rat faced granny
the hawk
billy fish
dog island
the smiling cobra
pig house
so what's the deal? why all the songs with animal titles? just curious, i think it's an interesting theme... but also, it doesnt seem to be a "theme" at all, as none of these songs really relate to eachother...
what's the deal with melvins & animal/insect song titles?

my next thread will discuss "the deal" with airline food in great detail.
Not to mention the animals that appear in a lot of their covers.
I'm guessing they must REALLY love animals/childish artwork to a certain point, not to mention it makes a unique persona amongst album covers and sort of a band identity anyways!
Not to mention the whole ironic-ness of it amongst all these "tough" and "artsy" metal bands.

I made a post about this a little while back. I think it deals with the fact that humans are animals and dont admit it. Perhaps a comment on social darwinism. Alot of the animals are doing human things. I'm not sure but everyone dismissed it last time I brought it up.
Don't dwell too long on the subject I'm sure there's no deep or inner meaning to it. One thing you could connect to though is that a good number of the animals listed are commonly eaten and bugs infest them if spoiled and then other animals could just metaphors for society. Otherwise, why does anyone name their songs what they do. Look at the Boredoms songs names, or Frank Zappa's.
im not obsessing over it by any means, i was just curious.
