heavy?

why was Dale pissed?

double set?

take your time glen, there's no hurry  :)

1.) heavy?  oh good god almighty.  AMAZON was so fucking crushing.   not a person in that building wasn't feeling that track.   the drums were the front-and-center of the stage.   best show I've seen yet with the BB boys. jared was much more animated than shows past. alot of headbanging and grooving and not so much with the fret board stares and anchored feet.

2.) dale had a bug in his ass.  no dis, of course.  but he did.   the show was a sell out. hot and rowdy.  a beer flew up onstage during EVIL NEW WAR GOD and they stopped playing.  dale said if anymore beer came onstage he was leaving.  then jared lectured briefly about self-control.  you could hear the hellfire in dale's voice and expression on his face.  so like 2 tracks later another beer.   dale came out from behind his kit to go after the pointed-out beer throwing moron.  he was escorted out as dale challenged anyone else in the building who "wanted to be an asshole".   it kinda set a mild bad vibe for the rest of the show. but none-the-less MELVINS blew me the fuck away.   even on time number 13 or 14 or whatever it is now.

3.) 2 sets.  oh yes.  the first set I got totally fucked when I decided to step out to take a wiz. I COULD NOT get back in the room where MELVINS were playing. it was that packed. there was not room for one more skinny body. so I had to watch them on the TV in the bar area.  sucked.  and this is why I gave up all hope on chit-chatting anymore with fellow board members. I was going to stake my claim for set 2 at all costs.  and I did.  nice and close. in front of jared.

4.) I saw Mount Ambulance, EGO the living planet, blag jesus himself, armofinfant (who's homey has some kick-ass pictures), and I hear jozzy was there but I did not see him.

5.) no posters. only a mastodon poster and one other crappy looking MELVINS poster. walsby said they would show up at some point but they never did. I was the last man at the merch table.

doesn't sound like Dale had a bug in his ass.
sounds like there was a moron in the crowd that was trying to get attention. and did.

i don't blame dale at all... they're trying to focus and put on a show that people paid to see and there is an idiot that's obviously trying to mess things up... i mean, would you THINK the band would be happy getting shit thrown at them? i mean seriously.

hey.. I don't blame dale either. totally justified response.  especially after dealing with shit like that for 25 years.
and the gentleman in question was indeed a drunken moron.  there were about 15 or 20 of them.
but at the same time it IS a rock concert at a bar. its going to happen when you've got alcohol fueled over-stimulation from the greatest band on earth.
there were also about 300 totally cool people there.  drinking, smoking, whatever, but carrying themselves like civilized human beings.
it kinda sucked to have it be obvious dale's evening was pretty much shit on. he seemed exceptionally irratated.

who's fault is that?  drunken moron's, I know.

prolly a down fan.

SNIVLEM!!!

This was a awesome show heavy and weird just how i like it.

I missed all but the last 2 songs of Totimoshi, what i did hear did not really interest me i was there to see the fucking MELVINS!!!

I got right to the front in front of Dale and Jared and THE melvins proceeded to rock my face off!!

The deuche bag that got kicked out was pissing me off the whole first set, he was standing right behind me and just being a total asswad leaning, pushing, sloshing around. Dont get me wrong i have no problem with rocking out even moshing but when u are the only dude trying to mosh and theres a mosh pit 15 ft over ... just go over there dude what are u to scared to get ur ass kicked ... I knocked him a few good shots while standing there, my friend planted a good elbow in em as well he chilled out for a bit after that. I thought it was hilarious when dale booted the asswipe. I mean really why waste beer like that... and on expensive equipment no less.

This was the best melvins show yet with the Big Business dudes, maybe it was the fact that they didn't open. LYsol was amazing, Amazon was tits as well!!!........ oh yea and Bacon Industry that was awesome as well.... Overall a great time and not as fucking hot as the last smalls show they had the fans on this time major improvement.

I took a small video with my camera and some pictures... the video is posted right here MELVINS @ Smalls Bar in Hammtramack, Mi 6-24-2010 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YODOYzLAo9o#) .... ummm i guess no link for pictures cuz i put it on the book of my face..... but theres a vidya for ya , i may post them somewhere else if i do ill let yall know.........

YEA BOI!!!

They should just put up chicken wire, like that bar on the Blues Brothers. Maybe they should've just started playing Rawhide.

I find the opposite to be true of concerts I have attended. God Bless Texas.

agreed.  it was only mildly god-awful hot.
I think the smoking ban may possibly affect that.
I also noticed the lack of cigarette smoke really pronounced the amount of marijuana smoke.

i love melvins shows. they don't fucking stop once throughout their entire set. it's like you don't even get a chance to fucking breathe.

funny story: while crossing the border to come to the show the border guard asked us what we were going there for. when we told him we were seeing the melvins, he said "they were big in the early nineties, right? stoner witch? is this a reunion?". that was much nicer than the ball busting i got when i went to the show in '07. anyhow, long story short, definitely the best i've seen of this or any line up. just epic.
i think dale was totally justified. beer sprayers have always been complete morons. jared put it best "i bet you're the type that complains about the price of beer yet none of it gets in your fucking mouth". jared also looked pretty pissed at somebody using a flash at the beginning of the set. once again, also completely justified.
also, what's with all the fucking hatebreed type goons? it was the same thing last time i was there. not like i want a mellow crowd, but the whole "fuckin' mosh bro!" uber testosterone was kind of ridiculous....

ok, i had a car load. we got fucked up in the car outside and my boy Glen texted me when toti was on stage. since there was no re-entry we just stayed in the car till toti was done pretty much. We got in grabbed some beers went into the band room. It was so fucking packed. At one point i just told my self "think of it as a nice sauna-that the Melvins happen to be playing at". it worked. wasnt so bad, I realized I was pretty drunk at one point . I started to sway a little. But I still didn''t throw any beer.  But I did yell to the Melvins to "play something heavy" and guess what they fucking did man!

The highlight of the night was fucking Anaconda for me. The Highlight of the decade(next to TJL reunion) was the playing Karp's Bacon Industry. At first i didn't realize it. But I soon did . The front of my panties were stuck to the tip , after the semen had dried.

I got to hang with Jozzy for a while. I was trying to get Glen out to the bar but he was anchored down, holding his spot for the melvins.

Great show. good sound, love Buzzo's new guitar. Jared's bass work is fucking great to watch. He does shit that I never think of , as far as approach. Inspiring for my future shit.

Now What? no shows on the horizon.

Hell Yes! Another stellar Melvins show! Best I've seen this line up pull outta their hat. That setlist had alot to do with it ... Damn! Love that setlist man! Aside from that, as always they played amazingly an' just gave it 110%   ... though with every new tour/show this line up just gels more and gets tighter and tighter ... the dual drum thing just getting better and better each time! Someone on this board once suggested that trio Melvins is just heavier, darker and weirder than the quartet

great show, best set i've ever seen them play except for the HAT tour.  i happened to be right next to the jackass that got thrown out so i got to enjoy a couple of beers on my back/head.  the girl next to me got DRENCHED and i thought she was gonna kick his ass at one point. don't think the band was out of line at all in stopping the show to yell at him, he was definitely taking his bullshit too far.

i was also right next to jared so i may have been standing next to glen the entire time without knowing it.

got the last copy of the senile animal vinyl - so glad i didn't buy it last month for $70 when i had the chance!

i was by the back bench for first set, i was in front of the control board. being tall.

i got the shirt with the octopus, they were out of bride cd's.

good review by the way Mount Amb

Killer, killer show. As always it was a pleasure to run into Glen, and unfortunately, as always I failed to meet any of the rest you. Next time let's make it happen.

Some highlights for me, focusing on ones not already mentioned:

"Lovely Butterflies"  - especially Jared's noise jam at the end.

"Bacon Industry" - I would have picked "We Ate Sand", but damn that sounded AMAZING last night.

"We Fuck Around" - I am cursed with hearing early Beach Boys nearly every day. That interpretation made me smile.

"Revolve" - just sounded awesome. I' m dying to hear "Roadbull"  with this line up.

Jared's outfit. It looked like he wandered in off the set of a 70's sci-fi movie.

Totimoshi. Love the band MELVINS pick as openers.

"Black Bock" - I love the way that song is sweet on the surface but evil underneath.  Good to see it revived.

That fucker deserved to be kicked out. Fuck him. The silver lining to that cloud is that Dale channeled a bunch of that pissed off energy into beatin' the fuck out of those skins like I haven't seen him do in years.

at the merch booth I scored:

(a) Senile Animal vinyl.
The Totimoshi shirt with the Aztec pyramid and the rising sun.
Walsby's MELVINS - My War poster. He graciously autographed it and wrote "Side Two!" :D 8) :)

It was a great night. The friend I went with said it was one of his top ten all time shows. I sure as hell thought it was great too. \m/\m/

This was the 4th time for me seeing Melvins live. While I have only ever seen them as a quartet, this show was definately my favorite. The setlist blew me away, Amazon being a highlght for me. Did anyone happen to record this show?

Not much else to say about the show that hasn't been said. That douche definitely deserved to be kicked out. I'm just glad Dale didn't follow through with his threat and stop the show completely after the second time. I liked Jared's quote "Do you know how much it costs us to dry clean these?!?!? (in regards to their mumus ) This was definitely my favorite show with the Big Biz guys...Also, was cool chatting with ya, Armo. And I also got to chat with Jared for a few minutes after the show, seems like an awesome dude.

And yeah, did anyone record the show [-o<

Also, glad to see everyone loved AMAZON as much as I did! By far the highlight of the Boston show for me.
Title: Re: Detroit 6-24

what was I thinking having the audacity to question anything a member of MELVINS might say or do.

look, he's one of the single greatest men on earth. there I said it.

all I'm saying is if MELVINS would have stopped the show becuase 1 (or perhaps roughly 1 to 2% of the audience) was acting like a fuckhead I would have considered that a potential overreaction and been most displeased with it considering the fact that I and many of those around me were more than civil, gracious and had gladly paid our admission to see the show.  I would have left there thinking "man, I didn't deserve the way that ended."  punishing everyone in the building over a very, VERY select few seems extreme.
the situation ended exactly as it should have. "drunk fuck" gets shown the door and the rest of us continue our audio-bliss.  but it got a little shakey for a minute or 2. thank god for small venues where the guilty parties are easily indentified.

PS: please,  allow me to reitterate...  dale crover = super human
