Based purely upon their appearence on some photo shoots (such as this) the uninitiated, casual observer would probably think the band sound like some summer pop, indie darlings or something equally lame-o and NME riddled!
Over-priced British rag!
chill out dude

I suppose. as long as "pop" refers to a pop in the kisser.

I dont know, Coady could pass for a member of a hipster band surely?
nice, i'll probably get this in the mail week next week. melvins have been rock a rolla darlings from the start and rightly so. i also think rock a rolla is farily reasonable priced for a magazine that usually covers a lot of cool stuff.
as for the other bands mentioned on the cover, has anyone heard the high confessions yet? yet another supergroup with steve shelley of sonic youth on drums, a guy from nachtmystium, a guy from ministry (connolly?) and another dude. i listened to it today but thought it was 'so so' for what i thought would be a 'heavy psych' band (shelley's own words). will be seeing the guy in september with NEU! which will be a helluva lot better i'm sure. stian westerhus is a badass noise guitarist from norway, everybody check him out, especially his band PUMA. they misspelled monarch, should be 'MONARCH!' with the exclamation marks. still waiting for their split with mary bell from holland, which will probably never see daylight.
coady has definitely replaced kevin as the 'cute' member of the band, i agree.

Picked this up in Sister Ray today, great issue as always. Just flicked through to the Monarch thing - apparently the exclamation is in the US only, 'cause there's another band there of the same name, they say it's 'Monarch' everywhere else...
Dale will always be the 'cute' one! heh heh
I thought Jared was the band's sex symbol? :-k

well, of course i meant to write 'hallo gallo' which -- for some unexplainable reason -- i thought would consist of 2 members of neu!. and steve shelley -- but i just looked it up for you and to be exact, this is what it will be like:
"Michael Rother will start performing selected concerts around the world in summer 2010 with his project Hallogallo 2010. Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Benjamin Curtis (School of Seven Bells) and Aaron Mullan (Tall Firs) will join him. Together they will play music by NEU! as well as some tracks by Harmonia and from Michael Rother

Therefore he must be the singer of this folky looking troop. The guy with the gray hair in the back must be the pump organ player, and the big fella front right is the lap steel player. The pretty boy is the acoustic guitar strummer and does the falsetto harmonies.
what / where was that comment that said...three fat guys and a hipster? that is what i see. most band picutres are funny.
This whole thread is making me laugh a little bit.
LOL!

Hey, I just got my copy at my poor independent CD/Vinyl store. I think it was delivered by sea turtle from UK to US and then shipped here by a slug. Oh well, I must retract my first post-the magazine now comes pre-priced for US($9.95). Before, someone at the store who had no clue of money conversion told me that it cost $15! Hence my first post. It is a cool magazine even though I have never heard of any of the bands in it besides the Melvins and Goatsnake(Southern Lord ad). :D
