AMPHETAMINE REPTILE RECORDS Is Back (for 3 days)
Andrew Lau | Aug 24, 2010 | Comments 0 |
About twenty-five years ago, Tom Hazelmyer started his own label, Amphetamine Reptile Records. He had a band of sorts, Halo Of Flies, more of a project at that point than an actual band but he wanted his records released, so he did it on his own. Printing and constructing the record jackets himself using a sleeve-folding gadget made in a machine shop during his stint in the Marine Corp, Hazelmyer set in motion what was to become one of the better known independent rock labels of the 1980s and 90s. Powerful music wrapped in eye catching graphics were the trademarks and Amphetamine Reptile became synonymous with aggressive, subversive bands and, for good or ill, went on to popularize what is now known as
...and not a mention of Melvins!
So then what day are the Melvins playing, if it's a 3 day event? It better be saturday! I don't want to drive 7 hours for nothin! If anyone has any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated!
THANKS

The gig is on the Saturday but it looks like there'll be other events happening around town connected with the 25th anniversary. I think there's an exhibition of AmRep-connected art at the Ox-Op building, for instance.
Thanks Jules for the input. That puts my mind at ease a little more

Look at the Melvins album reviews on the site by Joseph P. Larkin and you'll see why...

Boss Hog was great...Melvins were perfect (they also played Kicking Machine & Civilized Worm). Hammerhead stole the show. I didn't stick around for the Fuzz Buzz, so I'm interested in how that went.......
Oh yeah, Shannon and Haze did a bugle\guitar thing right before God Bullies and then ripped into "Shaking" when the God Bullies got on stage, so we got one Cows song!
Shaking is actually a cover...

Was it slowed way down or sped up?
I'd have to say it was a little sped up. Kinda like Richie era Ramones.

Technical difficulties, so it was scrapped.

Answer 1: Speed
Answer 2: The one and only! He did some great art for the c/z singles.
I just noticed the 'M' gang sign in the above picture:

I want to meet this Bad Ronald guy at least once in my life.
When Steve Turner had Super-Electro going I bought everything the Kent 3 put out along with some Mudhoney.
I got a free single in one of the shipments: "Ed Fotheringham singing songs about golf" and the songs kicked ass!

You'll have to come to the USA, he's not allowed in Canada. Seriously.
That five years went quick.
