In the Crover modern drummer issue, Dale list Clem Burke, from Blondie, as one of his influences,
and says they recently recorded a Kinks song with Clem on third drums.
Anyone know what song it is , when its coming out, etc.?

I picked this Kinks Tribute release up at a Lanagan show. Great stuff.
First my generation then black betty now this. I suppose it'll be whiskey in the jar and sweet home alabama next. why would an innovative band like melvins need to cover such obvious classic rock shit that's available in your local dive bar any night of the week.
Angus - it seems as if you do not quite understand the Melvins. A large part of the Melvins universe is doing cover songs. Always has been and I assume it always will be. It is part of what makes them innovative - and luckily you can choose to not listen to or purchase items they release. I suggest you quit whining and trust the Melvins to make the right decisions.

I agree with you in one sense but they have many influences aside from classic rock. How about them covering a pIL song or something. I like Crybaby alot with its Jesus Lizard and Hank Williams and Merle Heggard covers. I'm just very fussy that's all.

You never know! That day may just come~! :)
if they ever cover PiL, I want them to do Seattle, or Under The House
but with Buzz laying down some sick guitar over those tribal drums!
i wish they would record the wings cover with the whole band.

Yes. Let Me Roll It is awesome cover even as a two piece. But with the full blown band with their vocals would be killer.

QuoteThe Melvins have collaborated and worked with many different people over the years, is there anyone else you would like to work with?
Coady Willis: During our last studio session we did a Kinks cover and Clem Burke of Blondie came in and played drums on it. We still have to mix it, but that was really cool. He's a hero of both Dale and mine, so that was pretty awesome. I would do that again if he wanted to.
