Jared is articulate and funny.  It makes a nice change from Buzz's whiny moaning about everything.

I won`t spend time reading all this interview, but can anyone tell me if Jared and Coady has ever gotten the question if they are allright with Big Business being swallowed by Melvins? Cause BB is their band, and I can`t imagine them being allright with it getting totally in the background. Is there a bigger chance that BB breaks out than that Buzz shows them the door?

i think playing in the melvins brought them more credibility as band. they're about to release a 4 songs EP which they've probably recorded in three hours, that's pure melvins influence!
also Coady is about to hit the studio with Murder City Devils and they have the White Shite project too. best moment of their life? probably

Perhaps I`m only crossing my fingers for a break up between Melvins and BB, sorry.

Well i think it depends upon how we define the word definitive. Do we mean definitive as in the best or in terms of most remembered in retrospect? Personally my favourite line up was Buzz, Dale & Kevin but i think the current incarnation will be the one that is recalled in the future.

For me, every line up has been equally great! I mean, it's Melvins. Have they ever put a foot wrong?

As far as the current line up, I think they get better with every release. TBSM is one of my personal favourite releases.

i like the mark d era songs/records the best overall, but this line up crushes those song so i would say this line is the definitive line up.

What ex-bass player for Melvins has put out the best stuff since their stint with the band(proving they were a valuable asset while in the Melvins)?  Mark D, that's who,  just proving my point that the Buzz, Dale, Mark D line-up trumps all others past and present.

I'd say Joe Preston even though he ranks pretty low in my book as far as Melvins bassists go.

It's all semantics! If and when they lose the BB guys I bet they will stop all together.

I thought we all have already established without a shadow of a doubt that the Kevin era is the best.

Why? Because Kevin worked as a janitor after playing with the Melvins.

You mean it's all subjective?   :P

No I meant semantics! As in, what is the meaning of  "best" when applied to current and former bass players.
What does "best" denote? How can we quantify "best" when they've all brought something unique to the table.

Which would be....wait, how did this turn into an English lesson.  Fuck it, let's all get drunk!

BB is a cool band, but if they are anything like the music fans most of us are, I am sure it's a dream come true to be in the Melvins...

As much as I like the Mark D years. The albums with Kevin overall are creatively the best so far in my opinion. The Bootlicker is an underrated masterpiece in the Melvins catalog. Pigs of the Roman Empire ranks up there too.
