No one will take his title as longest running bassist!
The homelessness forbades it!!
Melvins with Neurosis' Scott Kelly: Melvins Dark
Melvins with Tweak Bird's Caleb: Melvins Brown Ale
Melvins with Kevin Rutmanis: Melvins Stout
Melvins with Matt Lukin: Melvins Porter
The article was wrong in saying Lukin was recording with them. Dillard yes, Lukin, no.
Did I hear your right?
I've been Saving a bottle of Cheap Champagne for this very occaision.
rutabaga Rottenhouse!!!
Are these tunes going to end up as another 7" series or a compilation similar to the Crybaby? What are they going to do with all these covers? Another set like HAT, with album cuts on one side and a cover on the B-side? Hmmmmm...
In a recent interview about the Sugar Daddy split 7"'s, Buzz said he called Kevin for permission to use a Cows song.

I'm guessing they got confused as Dale likes to refer to himself as Lukin when he plays bass in Melvins '83.
this is alot to take in!
are the melvins becoming a satellite band? kinda like secret chiefs?
nonetheless this is awesome... they just keep giving this year!

No problem. I'm guessing so too. I hear that the songs are "retro and weird". I'm really looking forward to hearing them. This fall is going to be excellent.
So if I understood correctly, a new EP as Melvins '83?
:) :D
It's a great time to be in the Melvins Army!

I agree! I sometimes wish that the title of this thread was true, but then I remember what road kevin was taking the band down. @ Headliners I saw him sit at the bar from the time I walked in until the Melvins played and then proceed to play most of the show while lying on the floor with the mic cord wrapped around him. After the show he stumbled out of the venue and yelled OSBORNE! THE KEYS! and then just got in the van and sat there.
My girlfriend and were talking to Buzz at the time and he didn't look real happy about the whole thing. That was the last time I saw Kevin. I loved his playing style but I think that he was on the verge of ruining the show that night and this probably happened more than once. I'm not sure what all he was using except alcohol but he really looked like feces. I would LOVE to see him get his bowel movements together and play with the greatest band on earth again but I haven't seen anything in this thread that suggests that this is likely.

Interesting anecdote. I wonder what his current state is. I hope he's cleaned himself up.
he seems to have it together as far as his facebook goes.
KEVIN HAS BEEN CLEAN FOR AWHILE NOW AND HEPA/TITUS IS DA BOMB!
I heard about KEvin Lying on stage just playing one note, and Buzz looking pretty pissed and apparently pulling the plug in the middle of that tour, and honestly Dale and Buzz should have tied him to a tree and left him out there untill the wet dog shakes.

i wonder if there is a recording of their last show with kevin?
The Capitol Hill Block Party show is a good documentation of the end of Kevin. A great show musically but you could tell Kevin was having issues. I made an audience recording and someone one else had a better sound board. We ran into the Melvins after and Buzz said recording of their show is illegal. During Sound check, Kevin: "Fuck..................youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu", Fuck.........youuuuuuuuuuuuuu". During the show he poured a bottle of water down his shorts so it looked like he pissed hisself.
From the Capitol Hill Block Party
July 26, 2004
Melvins closed the Party playing Sunday 8:30 Pm
thanks for Transcribing that tape Grim.
Love to hear that show even if it went wrong for Kevin.
I told Vinny I would transcribe the interview for him.

How'd that work out?
Buzz lived in England for about 2 years?!
Is there any footage online of some Kevin's last shows with the Melvins? There doesn't seem to be much stuff on youtube from 2004-2005, last I checked.

Newcastle-under-Lyne market.
he got fed up with driving on the wrong side of the road and got lost out in the Dales one foggy night and had to sleep it off with a herd of sheep, that's all we know.

Well i never. Having thought about it tho yes i do seem to remember a dude with a mumu stall sometime back in the 90's!
I was at the Capitol Hill Block Party show - it was a great performance in my opinion - but you could tell Kevin was "out there" at one point during a bass noise bit he was on the ground licking the stage. I thought it was pretty fucking rock and roll. That was the last time I saw him play with the Melvins.
