Was thinking of replacing my stolen copy of Honky this morning but upon visiting amazon it seems this excellent album is out of print. Apparently it can still be acquired via mp3 through amazon but, in all honesty, I would prefer the cd. Could anyone here shed some light on Honky's status? Perhaps Glen or Jules or someone knows of plans for a re-issue.
ThanK youS in advance.

It's already been re-issued once by AmRep in a newly designed letterpress
sleeve by Mackie. 50 or 100 copies I believe, now all sold out.

surprised its so hard to find, i bet if you check the melvins section in enough big shops some would still have copies in stock.
i seem to remember buying mine new from a hmv within the last 8 years. never thought it would become hard to get.
Back in 2005, when my brother gave his copy of Honky for free, I remember feeling lucky that I got one of their rare albums for free. Since then it's typically been worth about $20.
I was under the impression that it stopped being made because Amphetamine Reptile stopped putting out albums. Same deal goes for Prick. I'm not too familiar with AmRep's history, as much as I love the label and bands on it. Maybe someone else knows.
Edit: Also, Does anyone know what it says on the front cover?
Amazon have some for around $20:

I can't imagine there not being a regular reissue of this one day.
I have Honky, Prick, Fucker Club, Singles 1-12. Bought them all from regular stores at regular price before they went OOP.
IMO AmRep should stop fucking around w/ novelty, uber-limited collector discs and reissue the above albums on CD and/or standard vinyl, along with the complete Cows discography. Or at least do a complete Cows CD box set.
COWS BOXED SET , FUCK YES!!!
As long as it had Effete & Impudent Snobs. Can't find that bastard for a good price anywhere.

found that on vinyl recently together with peactika for like $10 each.
sometimes you get lucky!
Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm going to visit some of the local record stores in Austin later this week and I'll keep my eyes peeled. I checked at Waterloo already and they only offer digital downloads, same as amazon.
The second hand copies on amazon DO go for around twenty dollars but unfortunately the quality of them is ranging from 'fair' to 'acceptable'. Then there are other sellers pushing copies for around sixty dollars - more than I care to spend on it at this juncture.
The album is so solid I'm sort of bewildered that AmphREP or someone else - maybe Ipecac - hasn't done a re-issue.
I've been looking for Honky for a long time. You will get lucky one day. I had my Stag CD lost on a greyhound (along with other collections) I always thought I'd have to get it on ebay, but I found it again in a Dallas store for $4.99.
got my honky cd at a used record shop for 6 bucks. and that was just a few years ago.
wasn't there some discussion of collecting the entire melvins amrep discography in some non-collector type capacity? even though i have most of the rarities, it would be pretty stout to have all of them on one disc...

Just another one of the emerging foot fetish clan on here. DC, Fester, Stonergrunge they're all at it! :o
checking Amazon, this sisnt the only Melvins album unavailable on CD.
GPT reissue, Maggot, Prick, Electroretard ect are all out of stock. lots of the others on CD have very low stock as well.

i found some of the CDs that were out of stock at Amazon are in stock at Newbury Comics, including some signed stuff leftover. just a heads up.
...
also, (didnt want to make a new thread about this but i wanted to bitch so im doing it here) i just got Ozma and HAT on cd today for the first time. fucking Ozma cd wont play properly, it skips all over the place. and of course it was the one cd that came from an Amazon seller and not direct, so now i get to return it, get reimbursed and buy it all over again.
it's so rare that a cd is ever defective, sucks that this is from a seller and not direct. i want it NOW!
edit: hm. nope seems to be working fine actually. that cd player just didnt seem to like it guess. too heavy for that piece of shit. every other cd player seems to play fine with the cd. whoo!
back to the topic at hand.

fixed. :P
Does anyone know how many Letterpress copies of Honky were made? I just got a copy and its not numbered like the others
IIRC, the original poster stated that they were in Austin.
When I was in Austin, Cheapo disks had a pretty good amount of Melvins stuff, including, I think, both Honky and PRick.
OF course, 1) That was a while back, and 2) I was a bit more stoned, depressed and angry than usual the entire time I was in Austin, so take it with a grain of salt.

Amphetamine Reptile had extras that they sold through the website, those weren't numbered or signed.

thats going to happen today. then like another 20 times over the next week probably. looking forward to it!
