i would absolutely love that!!! that is very cool of you. i'm sure tickets are still for sale at the door, my buddy Mike still needs a ticket as well.
Greasy and I are heading out shortly will be parking off Walnut most likely. See you in about an hour or so
Man, I wish I could be going to these shows with you guys. Sounds like a fun time. Enjoy!
Did you end up finding your friends? Sucks about the door guy denying one of them entry.

Is this a Canadian euphemism I've never heard of? I
think I might know what it means.
Indeed another great show. The venue was pretty crap ... like a cheesy banquet hall or non discript office space ... all white stucco, foam ceiling tiles etc. Zero ambience or vibe. Too boot, total shit feng shui going on with the tiny stage crammed oh so awkwardly into a corner. Nice that it was air conditioned though.
Sounded great and the band played right too it. Same highlights all around ... ummm pretty much the whole thing, ya know? Buzz was doing some cool scratchy post punk noise in various songs. Dale was just going to town, laying in hard and sure. Just total full on Crover action. Angus Dunn tied it all down ... from thick walking lines to screechy on edge scratching and everywhere in between.
Crowd was alright if not a little on the sedate side.
My buddy taped it (audio). Previewed on the ride home. Sounded pretty damn good. He posts here with super irregularity ... though I'm sure he will once he posts it to Dime.
I recorded Shevil on my phone and its not too bad. But I agree the stage crammed in that corner was weird. If they put the bar there and stage where the bar was would have made all the difference for viewing.
And Jules it was the name of the next street up from the old club address.

Sounds great it was at such a small venue, though. And thanks for clearing that walnut thing up!

Yeah, kinda the same set up/floor design as in London ... in the corner like that; though just seemed less room and shitter sightlines at this place. Though it did sound good, and I could see where I was fine ... but the over all ambience was just kinda like a dentist office or something ...
Jim did you have a big bandaged hand?
No that was Flutters friend. I was wearing a Dethklok baseball hat. Funny there was a good looking girl who also had a cast/bandage on her hand as well. Cripples in numbers
Ok here goes, my last night of the MELVINS!!!
so after the london show i had to clean my car , as the driver i have to stay fairly sober but my friends tend to indulge this makes for a destroyed inside of my car. My friend Mike dropped an extra large iced cap (a frozen coffee drink from Tim Hortons) into my sons car seat and never said anything untill i dropped him off at home, as he proceeded to clean it he broke apart a pack of cigarettes which got all soggy from the drink, needless to say the wife was not happy in the morn. So with a freshly cleaned car we made our way to Hamilton (Stinktown). We parked beside the venue close to the tour vans again and had a few beers. We started to talk to Mitch the camera guy for Retox, he's a really cool guy. Also the guitar player Mike came out and we talked for a while. As we talked and drank Mitch filmed a bit of my friend Mike (the guy with the long beard and , yes he was the guy in the construction vest) doing handsprings and chugging a beer. This brought us close to their show time so we let them go get ready then went to make our way in. My friend Mike got a Ticket off a guy named Brent (he looked like Tom Petty) for $20, we had some smoke with him and then made our way to the door. As i walked around the corner i saw Bigjilm and Greasy , so i stopped and talked for a little bit, Jilm told me he brought some samples of his home brew for me to try :D . My friend Mike wanted to see Retox so we went to the door. This would prove a problem as Mike lost his ID. The door guy was a shithead as he was giving Mike a hard time he let like 10 people that did look young in without checking their ID :x So i had to leave Mike outside as i was gonna talk to the Retox guys in sneaking him in the back, this did not happen.
Ok, now for the show
Retox was starting as my other friend Nick )the guy with the bandaged hand) and I walked in, there was a big open area right in front of the stage where the singer was moving around , so took my hair down and started to rock for Mike because he was really into seeing these guys. the singer knocked out a ceiling tile and handed it to me between song and said it was a souvenir. At one point in one of their song the guitar player was getting all sorts of noise and feed back while the band chilled out. The drummer then came up to me and kinda asked for my beer so i gave it to him and he chugged it and went back to the stage. These guys are pretty intense as the singer was climbing on the speakers and railings around the stage.
So now we are waiting for the MELVINS. This venue is laid out pretty dumb for shows like Jilm and Ambulance were saying. They played very tight aside from a few time they messed up lyric parts  The crowed from where i was seemed really tame.I did lots of moving but i stay in my own bubble and try not to invade others. Trevor was very animated that night , moving his bass around , laying on his back and playing (see pic below) Dale was very tight and punchy.Buzz seemed to look like he was having fun, i seem lots of smiles. :D
Highlights for the night were History Of Drunks, Sky Pup, Let Me Roll It. they were all very spot on.
After the show i took my time going out, then some dude came up and we started talking, i asked "Hey are you on the melvins.net board?" he says yeah i'm DUMPSTER D!!!!!!! Finally i thought i was never gonna meet him. D is a super nice dude, i ended losing him as i met up with Bigjilm and Greasy again and went with them to their car to get the excellent gift of Bigjilm's homebrew beer. we ended up talking for quite a while then i realized i had kept my friends locked out of my car , so we parted ways and i made my way back. They were there waiting and as i walked up thet brent guy came back over and we began to have little (big) smoke session during this Nick puked all over the place.
So i had to load the "boys" into the car and make our way home.
Sad that this little journey is over, but look forward to one in Spetember :D
If you read all this thanks, and i'm sure i'm leaving something out
Yeah, it was a fun weekend huh? Glad everybody seemed to have good times and good vibes through it all ... 3 cheers!
Sorry I didn't chat it up w/ any of you guys ... after seeing (but missing) Flutter at London. I was pretty sure I knew who was who ... got the group right but not the individuals ... thought Mr. Bandage was BigJim and thought Mr. Construction was Greasy ... inside the tunes were going, it was loud ... so I figured I'd make intros post show ... but I never saw any of those people exit ... guess you were talking to Dumps?
If any of you are going to the Detroit show, we'll have to give it another try ... plus, you get to meet Glen ... and yeah, Glen I plan to hit Motor City ... though I'll be flying solo ... so it's still a little up in the air ... but yeah, I hope to make it.
Flutter, are you really making the trek up to Alaska?
it was sadly the end of a fantastic three days that completely cemented why i love this band and would gladly follow them around. i hope tours like this will be at least semi regular in southern ontario. not that i dislike the treks down to buffalo or detroit, but i'd prefer the treks down the 401 or on the streetcar any day.
super awesome to meet you and your friends flutter. thanks for that terrifying tale of mike's impalement. eek.
big hugs and gratitude to big jim for hauling me out to london and the hammer and for going out of his way to drop me back at home in toronto last night.
the shows were awesome, especially the non toronto stops (oprah's house just sucks the life out of everything). a friend and i were talking after the show last night about how no band comes close to the melvins. after 30 years they continue to amaze and confuse and are never dull. if people "used to like them" or just don't get it, that's fine. it's also their loss. add a great opening act (i know alot of people here don't like Retox, but i've been into justin pearson's music for ages and this project adds to a solid discography) and you have the summer concert highlight for me.

The phone booth becomes the bass. It's also a portal to Narnia.
one would presume after soundcheck and before taking the stage for the evening's performance.
yes, he comes out about 20min before the set to sound check himself then comes back in out fit

Yes, i will be going to Alaska.
Damn! That's awesome ... and insane. But insane at times is awesome. Have a blast!
glad you canadians had a blast! i am so jealous...
i really hope we europeans get a chance to see this line-up too... other than flying to alaska
I just want to know where trevor gets those snazzy sock suspenders.
My guess is Fogey Unlimited (http://www.fogeyunlimited.co.uk/acatalog/Sock_Suspenders.html).
Too bad the crowd wasnt getting totally into it. Met Big jim and Flutter after the set...you guys are definetly cool! and Flutter was the ONLY other guy I could see in the crowd getting INTO the set as much as me.
tried to find Flutter to get stoned after I went to get some :toke: :toke: to give to Cliff, .. but couldnt find em, my friend and I showed up EXACTLY when Buzz and dales Van also did and I nearly bumped into Dale accidentally walking around thier tour van, Trying to find the FUcking Entrance to the venue, the place was sketchy and even the melvins looked a little like they didnt want to be caught dead in Hamilton either.
Cliff and Aaron from ISIS were Sound tech and guitar tech. so I briefly talked to them a little about the BIG DIRTY 50 day tour coming. I like how Buzz used his clear guitar for the hamilton show and the aluminum one for the Toronto show, big difference.
So I briefly talked to dale as we both went around to the front of the venue to check it out a little, The place was Weird, the stage was an insult to a midget. poor trev...
The sound was SKETCHY...seriously at best.
I smelled so bad a chick next to me was holding her shirt over her nose most of the set.. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D FRIED ONIONS
had a chat with one of the melvins long time Friends who was selling merch behind the table about this and that and the other thing I told him how I really enjoyed his writing in the melvins book and I also said that I thought Trevor was a really good writer too. Very cool and nice guy.
REALLY enjoyed how the glass wall behind Dales kit provided GREAT clarity to listen to the sound check outdside...they were warming up some of the more technically demanding segments off their set to warm up I guess...buzz was singing funny ass shit...
HEaring Dale warm up was entertaining...We just sat on the steps and enjoyed a coffee, Buzz came out for a second and looked around and saw us sitting there like two lousy losers.. and went back inside, not too many people showed, so me and my friend walked around for a while went and got FREE BEER down the street and watched some band in this small bar...the bass player I talked to, also had his ticket for the show.
COOL. FREE BEER AND MELVINS...
out of all the crowd I talked with outside I seemed to know more than anyone else about the melvins or all sorts of other cool bands I could name off...
Trev saw me upstairs and I was like nodding at him and said KILLER, KILLER MATERIAL...GUYS KILLED IT!!! and he smiled at me.
I think he must be a really really nice nice dude.
I really enjoyed watching them play on Thursday in toronto and Wasnt hesitant to mention that to Dale. And I think that meant something to him, because Dale totally stole the Toronto show!!! They fucking ROCKED THE FUCK!!!
my friend asked him how the london show went...and all Dale said was...It was HOT.
:o
poor sweaty Melvins, anyway, Love the shirt, got the one with the Sugar Daddy pig, they were a GREAT DEAL, I should have bought both shirts looking back same price as they were 12 years ago, good times you guys, great!!! :D
Keep in touch FLutter and Big jim!!!
flutter nuts has the most insane Stoner hair of all time..
that was without a doubt one of the strangest clubs i have ever been in. i was hoping that upstairs had a balcony to look over onto the stage, but it was roped off. i also recorded the show. i stopped in here to find the setlist. as i ain't much of a melvins fan, but i do regard them as living legends. which was the main reason i went to see them. as much as i wanted to also go to the london show, i couldn't as i had 2 kids to watch that night. i read that they weren't too happy about how hot it was at call the office in london. and that's nothing new. out of all the shows ive seen there this year alone, i have only seen those stupid ass red and yellow spotlights turned off once and the 500-1000 christmas lights turned on that is on the ceiling above the stage. i stopped going to that place, just because they will not turn those lights off. even after band members on stage ask them to kill some of the lights on stage, they still dont. it's like what in the fuck is so hard about that? i've even overheard people at the soundbooth ask buddy to turn down or turn off those lights. and sure enough they wont. who knows if i will go back to another show there, just based on the fact that those lights are the worst thing about that club. i will just stay at the back in a booth under a ceiling fan instead.
anyways, back to the original reason i stopped by here
does anyone got a setlist for the hamilton show?
i got it sitting in my sound editing program on another computer and would like to finish it
for sound wise, it's not the greatest, as i was maybe the 8th to 10th person back from the front on King's side of the stage
and my mic picked up alot of the hooting and hollering
which if i had been closer, it wouldve turned out way better
i'm also not part of the dimeadozen crowd or any other downloading live show thingys
i go by the old school snail mail trading only, and also have been recording & trading shows since 1994
i got shitloads of live shows, including a 10 page print out (in 8 point font)
but at the moment ain't interested in trading (as i am also 2000+ miles away from home)
but that's another story i aint getting into
i'm just searching for the setlist thanks
