Four more letterpress CDs tonight. Maggot, bootlicker, 26 songs, and alternate freak puke. Looks like the ASA cover with other designs.

SOOOO much merch...hawthorne theater had a small setup for said merch, and it was way too crammed. i did however snag the last 51in51 mackie o. poster. walsby's band caricatures and album covers- amazing $20-25 also, a few melvins "LITE" prints $10.  they've really outdone themselves..not to mention brian walsby's pro merch-booth skills. pretty good big biz set, their gear was cranked, Jared was too drowned out on the mic.. melvins lite setup was mindblowing, dunn's upright was so bone-crushingly loud, my insides caved in a little. (i havent seen this many earplugs in a while- maybe since 'the geek tour'?!) cant believe theyre at this for 48 more dates...hell of a show

In case no one heard, there was a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in Portland last night.

First Melvins show since 95 that I have missed in PDX, other than a 21 + show in 99, and while I was in law school the 07, 08 wonder ballroom shows and the 09 25th anniversary. Mother in law died last night   :( But I was there in spirit :) So same set as July, other than switching freak puke with hooch?

It isn't. It really happened. From what I heard, it was actually just outside Portland.

Good to meet ya Jules. Trevor is such a great compliment to the Melvins, wish I could make more shows. For those of you waiting for them to hit your town this is epic. And the merch was killer too. The sound at the Hawethorn was meh but the melvins could play on the shittiest of systems and still sound good. Especially with the upright bass and Dale playing a smaller kit with brushes. dont get me wrong though, they are still plenty loud  :o

Ditto, Smellis, it was an honour! Pity there's never enough time to hang out more.

The sound at the Hawthorne was not anything like the sound in Seattle, but it was made up for by Old Man Gloom supporting.

Did anyone notice at the VERY end of the show the guy at the back getting kicked out?

I think he broke some lights as I heard a bunch of popping sounds just as I turned the corner and saw him being put in a sleeper type hold by the bouncer.  I was the only one around so I kindly opened the door to the exit as the bouncer escorted the said gentlemen out of the venue.

Great show overall!  Ended up picking up the 1983 cd set though I wanted to get much much more.

I saw it from the balcony.  There was two tables set up in the back, by the bar.  By the end of the night, there were dozens and dozens of empty beer cans stacked on them.  This ape proceeded to clothesline both tables, sending drinks and beer cans flying.  That's why there was such a fucking mess by the rear exit/entrance.  That popping sound was a shitload of cans hitting the floor.

The sound of all those cans and drinks hitting the deck coincided exactly with the lights flickering and the power going down. It had me fooled for a bit. I assume they turned the lights off as Melvins overran their 2345 curfew?**

**Edit - I now see the lights went off because of an earthquake.

Nah, it was just a random Oregon resident who lost control of his/her vehicle & slammed into the side of the venue.

*wink*
