I finally got some hires scans of the roll of b/w film from the "photo shoot" in Buzz & Lori's yard in early '91 that's been in my basement for the last 20 years. This shoot netted the three photos of the band on the inside cover of Bullhead. Thought you guys might like to see them. Kinda goofy, but a nice peek behind the curtain of that period. Enjoy...

There's this Walsby drawing of the three of them I recall seeing online somewhere. Lorax was in the middle, wearing sunglasses. It made me laugh because I thought it looked like a weird caricature of myself. I remember thinking, wow, look at me drawn in between Buzz and Dale -- this is awesome!!! Now i have to find it.

Yeah, I actually took them to a black and white specialty place here in Seattle and had them do the scanning so that I didn't fuck them up at all. They did an amazing job. The prints I got look killer too!

Oh she was gorgeous...before the needle got in too deep, that is. It was really sad to see her deteriorate in the few years after these pictures.

I got them from Dale when I was doing the fanclub stuff. A couple of the shots got xeroxed into the magazine, and then they went in a box with all the other original items from the zines. There they stayed in cold storage for many a year.

Seeing Lorax in these pics makes me sad, I dont really understand what happened exactly. (its not my Business either) All I know something NOT good, happened with her all of a sudden and she was no longer in the band.

she often worse sunglasses and I thought it was sort of a Ramones thing (like hide your ugly Face) but no, I can see by her expression in the pics, that she was pretty special. and Very good looking.

Yeah, It reminds me of the band Clown alley, I FINALLY got to hear it, My friend got the Re-release or something, I dunno...perhaps even an older copy I have no clue this was a while back..but the pics of Lorax brought me flashbacks of hearing Clown alley.
It put a lot into perspective for me.

Melvins wanted to go Full Bore serious with the band. Practice & Tour all the time... Lorax was not into that, was doing a lot of drugs, didn't like touring etc.. And her and Buzz were no longer a couple (So that has to be a little awkward)
hm. I read an Interview With Buzz and someone asked about Him and Lori, and he was pretty Casual Sounding.
Like; Oh we Dated for a while but it didnt Really work out.
that kind of thing.
Lori Black is currently alive and well, and is a photographer...according to wikipedia, at least. She's about 58, though, so she probably looks a lot different now. She probably does not really like to be bothered, I suppose, since that dark period of drug use is probably not something she wants to talk about.
