Title: Melvins, Red Kross, Frightwig New Years Eve 2014
Post by: Idlehanz on January 01, 2014, 05:31:11 AM
I'm keeping this purposely short as it's 3:30 am.  Great show, lotsa booze, good people. Nuff said.

I didn't film.  I wanted to just enjoy the show. More details later I suppose.

Melvins were good of course and I almost hate to say it but Redd Kross blew them off the stage. At least I thought so. The last song when Frightwig (who were a lot of fun as well) came out and played with them was great.

Redd Kross are my other favorite band in the world next to Melvins. I bet they came out with GUNS a-blazing. I think the song that Frightwig would have done with Redd Kross is "Crazy World". Crazy World is a song by Frightwig that Redd Kross played on their Phaseshifter album and plays live quite often. It is very heavy! So heavy in fact that I was hoping that all three bands would have played it together - it would be a great song with a Melvins take on it.

So wish I could have made it to this show. I went last year to Redd Kross and Melvins and it was a dream come true.

I hope Melvins and Redd Kross do a tour together. They really should.

It was Crazy World that Frightwig came on stage to play with Redd Kross. It was pretty great. OFF! has a bunch of stuff coming up, so probably not many Redd Kross shows after the few they already have scheduled.

All three bands were fucking great.  Usually I can pick apart something about a band on the bill, but I have no complaints this time.

The show was off the hook. The first band I could've done without though. I left to another bar anyway. Red Kross was really good. They did a lot of their later & new songs, and the classics were cool too. So, I was standing near the merch booth and it was a minute away from midnight. I was like, "what the fuck? where is the countdown?" Then the Melvins came on the stage with about 20 seconds to midnight and did the countdown. YAY! HA! Anyway, great show, great NYE, but I forgot to buy me a Melvins NYE shirt. D'OH! Oh yeah, here's a little :30 of Hag Me. CHEERS! ~ Naked Rob, San Francisco

Some dude was running around with a Walsby Melvins/Warriors shirt on.  I think I spoke to him outside, but I don't remember if he talked back :)

Someone satisfy my nerd needs and tell me what merch was all there!

There were 4 different test pressings.  One of each I think.  3 clowns and one Gaylord.

A Krampus t shirt limited to 100 ( so I heard )

Melvins/Fantomas Pig splits

The NYE splits

Some clown splits on tricolor instead of the previous colors

A haze colored Melvins/Helmet split

Regular clown splits and clown packs

Alan Forbes show poster, and a bunch of other show posters from Secret Serpents

Haze mini poster, the same as the NYE 7" artwork.

And a bunch of Red Kross and Frightwig merch.

A few corrections:

The NYE split I mentioned wasn't a split.  It was the Melvins NYE 7"

And as far as the shirt, I heard it was a run of 100, but not from Haze, so that number may be wrong. It's a killer shirt, but I don't have it yet, so I cannot post a pic.  The Krampus was on the front, and the back had some wording I don't remember. It was a killer design though. I'll post a pic when I get it, or maybe someone else can post one.

Funny, everyone is calling this 7" a split , i think just because it's another Melvins/Redd Kross show
