Yea, I found a cheaper, albeit longer flight. It was much easier to justify the price. Worth it though. I haven't been to Minneapolis or Grumpys for a few years, and I love it there.
damn! have fun lucky ones who get to attend.

Thanks for keeping me warm buddy.
Hey it was great to meet you guys
Fun times were had by all!! Buzz was in fantastic spirits, and yes, he did call his mommy from the stage  it was too cute. He followed the same set as before, but you could really tell he had warmed up a lot more to the acoustic routine since his first stop here. It sounded super, and the crowd was more relaxed, as a whole. The Splatt Gallery family (who has agreed to adopt me as their own) ran the show from the side of the stage. His daughter held the set list and spouted off the fragments of the song titles as 'requests' from the crowd. Buzz just wanted to have a good and chill time :D Rev Mike brought some fun party favors, and everyone ate cake!!
Cheers to 50 more years!!
I snapped a few pics on my fellytone, will post later if you all are interested.
Party favors = speedballs and candyflips.
Did Rev Mike do his floor punch dance?!?
rev. mike was flopping around the floor like a fish out of water for practically the entire set. it was truly beautiful to behold and the moment will be made an addendum to the new testament so that all might remember his contributions. the set was great and buzz was playing fast and tight, as expected after playing the songs throughout the length of the tour. no requests were taken however buzz did let the aforementioned girl dictate the ordering of the set, began with boris and ended with revolve. left out captain pungent and one or two others but a man does what he wants on his birthday. the birthday cake was very tasty. there were some 10"s for sale both striped and splatter along with the other recent vinyl. haze also found some of the original singles 1-12 double cd's tucked away in some nook or cranny of the amrep offices. he needs to be on one of those shows on TLC where they send in a gay dude to force you to go through all your shit and make you reorganize it.
That speedball hit me quick.
Sitting here at the airport a few hours early. Time to eat, drink and recharge shit. The show last night was great. So glad I came out for it. It was really cool to see Brian and Rev Mike again, and meet Judy. All very cool people. Also go to speak with Adam from the Seawhores last night as he was running the sound. Really cool dude.
I owe BroHammer the most, I wouldn't have come out with his generosity. It's always awesome to get to hang out with him. So thank, buddy!
I think the reviews everyone else has posted nicely covers the evening. It was a great show, and Buzz was really on fire. Funny stories, and the Melvins songs acoustically were beautiful. I'm really loving We Are Doomed especially. The new tunes are amazing as well. Cant wait to get my record player working and hear a few more.
Thanks again folks, we'll meet again!

Man what a great show! It was awesome! Fantastic to see Buzzo up so close and personal. Like others have mentioned it was pretty funny to see his mum called up on stage and yet a very sweet move to include her on his 50th birthday of all days. That was a surprisingly personal, moment that i've not seen of Buzz before. Got to say, even though i've see the same songs played on various videos on here you really can't substitute that sensation seeing it up close and live! To see Buzzo moving back and forth and getting into and losing himself in the songs that he was playing. Both surreal and visceral. You can't help but relate to that. Great atmosphere for such a intimate occasion. Got to say it was fun to meet all the gang from on here too. Cool people one and all and very much the icing on the cake of what was a utterly memorable event. So weird seeing a show of that magnitude and yet sincerity in such a setting. So glad i was able to witness such a one off show. Stripped back, paired away and straight to the essence of what is Melvins. Buzzo acoustic rules!
I'm so confused right now.

Wow Ian, you were there!? Lucky! That's awesome! Cool you got to see Buzz live. I remember at my first Melvins show it was a very surreal experience seeing him in person. That's so cool you got to go to the show. You make a good point about how different it is being there in person, as opposed to watching videos on youtube. You can watch the same songs performed online and get bored of them, but being there live is a greatly enhanced experience. Sometimes seeing a song live makes me realize I enjoy it quite more than I thought I really did. I always feel attending a Melvins show is an amazing experience. Now you have to see the full band live, man!

You guys!!! I was totally joking, i made up that whole post!!! It's all too easy to feel a bit left out when you read everyone else's enthusiastic live reviews on here so i thought i'd write my own! It has always interested me reading people's reviews (for any band) and discovering the insight and seeing how these reviews tend to be wrote. It's actually fascinating to think about how we take what is written upon face value. How certain descriptions validate a review. Im not saying everyone here bullshits or writes nonsense, merely that it made me wonder if it would be possible to simply invent a review for a show. To see how believable you could make it. Throw in a few "this guy was a total dick shouting all night" or "the venue was really small and odd looking" type observational comments and such. Thanks for Brian and Schnab for being good sports and playing along and making me laugh. Although i think everyone more than knows the likelihood of me attending such an event is complete zero. Sorry Metalhead Cow for deceiving you! I actually feel bad for eliciting such a nice response! Hey who knows perhaps like many others i was there in spirit tho!

I was there, birthday bash and the March 2 show. great shows, Buzz never disappoints. I have been fortunate to see the last few shows, melvins lite, pre bash 13 record release and the bash 13 shows. I must of seen the melvins oh over 20 times or so, back to 7th street show when they tore it up with helmet. My recent most fav show was the melvins lite. The lighting and sound was incredible, outside at grumpys/mn. My favorite spot to stand is always where i can watch Dale. It is a real treat to watch him play. I was lucky enuff to score one of his drum sticks, hangs on my wall heh for the last 20 years or so. hard to believe that after so many years, they still jam. the true test of time. with this being said, as great as it was seeing buzz stripped down to nothing but him and a wooden guitar. it was really depressing not seeing him with dale. and i must man up, everytime i hear the alice cooper song "Ballad" I tear up . the melvins , melvins music and seeing them play live , if i dare open myself to possible ridicule and bashing, the melvins have had a huge impact on my life, the hi and lo, the whole exp and aura they bring. i myself usually attend the shows alone. not always , but a dozen shows or so. i never brought myself to actually say anything to either to buzz or dale, I believe i told dale "great show" at the helmet show and purchased a t shirt from him, and one time at grumpys in the early 2000, watching the entire set outside looking in at a sold out show, where dale was playing near the window, i was like heh back stage a few feet from him. i knocked and he looked over and i gave him the your number one finger salute. he just smiled. buzz on the other hand, he was walking back from a grumpys set to his hotel down the street, as i drove by on my cycle , nearly killin myself in the process, i shouted to him "Buzz"! and gave him the devils salute. LOL silly meh. so many memorys with these guys.
Anyhow thanks buzz and dale and the peeps that have played with them over the years, thanks tom and pat and all the others who have taken the time to make it all possible, and happy birthday buzz, oh and btw i scored a piece of the birthday cake, and placed it in my freezer, and requested my sister, if and whenever i die, i am to be buried with this piece of cake, along w dales drumstick~) ...~i stand alone like a tree, Alone i stand~
That's cool, Charles. Anyone gives you any shit about that, I've got your back!
