Title: What? No Buzzo reviews for over a week?
Post by: jules on July 26, 2014, 05:52:33 PM
What in heaven's name is going on? We need to know:

a) The clown single situation;

b) The Sugar Daddy Vol.11 & 12 situation (i.e. have the metallic paint variants sold out yet?);

c) The TMKA situation (i.e. any sign of Vol.2 & 3 splatters yet?);

d) The Walsby-produced Melvins jewellery set situation (any sign of it yet since Carrboro/Charlotte?)

e) The King Buzzo/Tweak Bird split 7" situation

Thank you in advance.

P.S. It's Pinkus tonight. Woe betide those who don't post reviews!  :lol:

I saw him in Atlanta and it was great!  I was surprised how heavy just acoustic guitar sounded.

I'm broke as hell so I didn't pay much attention to the merch table.  It seemed like a lot was there though.

Pinkus was awesome, like he would not be!  3 old Daddy Longhead songs, 2 Honky songs, a new one, and one coming out soon.

Did not care for Emma.

Buzz was great.  He mentioned the Melvins will be back in November.

Tour to start after Oct 15.  They are to play voodoo fest in Nawlins' on the 31st.  So Houston must be right after (or before) that.

What was wrong with Emma? Part of my fascination with this tour has been the opening acoustic acts.

I've been listening to a lot of her stuff on YouTube. I'm super-psyched that she's opening in Tucson. She's one hell of a talented woman, in this world of fakeasses like Gwen Stefani and Miley Cyrus.

I see and respect the talent, but just not my cup of tea as they say.

The show in houston was really good. Met pinkus and buzz again then met brian and emma. Emma was very sweet and shy and she put on a great performance. Jeffs banjo skills are pretty damn good even though he apologized to me about having him being the first banjo player I ever got to hear lol! Emma was behind my gf and I when jeff was playing and she seemed to dig it and buzz was all smiles in the back corner watching him. They all talked to the crowd and were pretty funny as well. Buzz was absolutely amazing he was really into it, during boris he was stomping his feet so hard it shook the stage and he loomed over all of us inthe front row forcing us to lean back he was so close, he even seemingly scared a girl up front for how close he got. He told the mike patton story and mentioned how he got a bottle smashed over his head by a girl once, got into a fight with a man in a wheelchair and went to jail. He didnt elaborate but instead comically told us these incidents. He was very funny and nice to the whole crowd. Brian was super nice he even let me stash my poster I bought behind him so I didnt bend it by holding it during the performance. Got him, buzz and jeff to sign it, also got a cd by emma and a buzz dylan shirt. There was a lot of artwork by brian amd some clown singles and various 7 inches I that I cant remember exactly. There was also some vinyl, cant remember sorry! It was a real good night and buzz mentioned the melvins would be back in houston in november which pumped the crowd up a lot. Oh yeah also met dave again and he was real cool as always. Lots of nice folks attended only a few drunk people talking but it was stopped by the intensity of buzzs playing. Great show!

Hugely. I think Cheatos is one of the greatest LPs ever recorded. Ditto Icing. Add Crust and Drain to the list as well.

You remember back in the day when the only way to know what a label was going to put out would be to write to them? I have a couple of letters from Craig Stewart in reply to idiot questions I'd asked. I'd go to the bank with some change from my fortnightly unemployment benefit, change a bit of it into $5 bills and post them to labels I liked with stupid questions and bizarre demands. Trance Syndicate was a sort of god to me and a couple of friends in the 90s. We just couldn't get enough.

You, too? Or maybe you ARE Craig Stewart?   :D

Nope I'm not Craig, but him and King finally got married back in June.

Just been good friends with Pinkus, the guys from Ed Hall, and the Pain Teens since the early 90's

My BFFs back in Coventry had a band called Frog Poison. We were so impressed with Ed Hall, during one song they'd all move like Larry Strub for 30 seconds to make me laugh.

the Larry dance, I know it well.  Still does it with Pong and the getting more frequent Ed Hall shows on stage and while playing out in the crowd.

Come on down Jules.

Is Jules your true name of short for something?

My daughters name is Jules.  And it is not short for anything her name is Jules (like Verne and Asner).

and since you mentioned Cheatos...he did play 20 Pound Jockey as one of the longhead songs along with happy cow and churn.

I will, thanks! It's short for something! Your child-naming philosophy is spot on; name them what you'll call them!
