I thought it would be good to start a thread of other bands/groups/people covering Melvins songs.
I plan to do some Melvins covers on my bass so I'll post them when I'm done :)

here“s a (kinda old) playlist of my melvins covers. have fun ;)
Was just thinking of this, Monkey3 does a superb Lividity cover. A shame I can't share it, the wrong song is on YouTube.
Covers are the best when it sounds like a song written by the band covering it.

I agree. I love Brian Eno's original version of Third Uncle, but always thought Bauhaus' version sounded like they wrote it

Very nice! Buck Owens is in my top 10 Melvins songs.
The closest I've come was my first band doing a cover of Paper Cuts specifically because Dale played drums on it. Sheesh....that was over 20 years ago.
You guys want to know something, I have successfully FAILED at ever getting any other band mate or Band Ive ever been in to cover one single Stinking melvins tune...I swear to god its not possible to be done.
I must have played in well over 2 dozen bands in the last 15 years.
Its Proof that everyone who plays in a regular Jackoff band Suck balls and has no Clue about good music and Like to smell their own Farts and so on.
If you have an original Melvins cover I want it for the Tribute 3. Drumfreak this means you.
I already wrote in the tribute thread that I'll contribute two covers :)
an oven/wispy thing (i think i'll play every instrument on this) and black bock (with my brother).
I'll record the tracks in like one or two weeks (i'm currently on a school trip in bella italia)

The drummer didn't quite get the last riff verbatim not that it has to be, but It's a damn good cover. Somehow the guitar tone doesn't sound loud enough to me as the vocals which aren't as up front in the mix as the guitar, if you pushed back the guitar track slightly with a little reverb though. :-k

I'm trying to get Fart Lips to tackle a spoken word of Sweet Willy Rollbar! He'd be just like Henry Rollins, only different.
Maybe I'll try to contact this guy! This is the off-humor and weirdness I'm looking for.
Just had a listen to a few more of his covers. I wanted to see if he was more competent with classic, popular songs that one would expect he might know well or at least better than Melvins. Hmmm amazingly the outcome was just as bad!

This was a fun read and three really great versions. You can tell he's a huge fan. It must be so rewarding for the Melvs that so many of the folks influenced by them are actually awesome musicians in their own right.
This is a long thread, so maybe this is already been discussed, but lately the Melvins have been covering their own songs quite a bit. See FLD, The Devil You Knew, Euthenasia and most recently At the Stake.
