Just got an email from the Casbah that the Crystal Fairy show is postponed due to scheduling conflicts. Nizmark, CoryCory and Tstewsd already posted similar news.
Need to keep everyone informed because travel plans are already finalized by quite a few of us.
Post info here please.
I'm really bummed.
Hope all the band members are ok.
Yeah, sounds like the whole tour was cancelled. Got my cancellation email for the SF show this morning. Super bummed.
Is there any news at all?
I doubt anything's gonna be said about it unless Buzz or Dale bring it up.
I'm thinking back to when Le Butcherettes would out of the blue introduce a new member and people would be like "Where's ____?" to no response until people simply stop asking. But the lack of conveyance here could be a bad thing, really.
I can't help but keep thinking about Dale's drum destruction in relation to this. Most likely the two are completely and utterly unrelated but still i keep imagining Dale taking out his frustrations on his kit because the tour got cancelled or something. Ha.
Ipecac's official announcement on the tour status.
"We are very sorry to announce that all of the Crystal Fairy dates have been cancelled. An unforeseen scheduling issue came up and the band is not able to play these shows. Please get tickets refunded where they were purchased. We hope that these 4 amazing musicians are able to share a stage in the near future. For now, please enjoy the debut Crystal Fairy album from Teri, Omar, Dale & Buzz. Out Feb 24th."

I assumed it was poor ticket sales for their own shows and they would still play the festival show but now they've all been cancelled with none of the 'shows will be re-scheduled' guff or any mention of future shows doesn't look good for this project.

I thought I read somewhere two of the shows were sold out. No mention of the status in regards to Psycho Las Vegas either.
Crystal Fairy no longer on the banner for Psycho, although Melvins are still slated to perform.
Trouble seems to be with Mr. and Mrs. Gender-Bender.

Wanna buy a show poster? That sucks for small companies who put money into promo stuff like this. Hope they all sell out.

for a show that never happened.. these could be gold.
so is Mrs Gender the Yoko Ono of Crystal Fairy? :P
If by which you mean gets blamed as an easy target for happening to be in the vicinity while a bunch of childish assholes imploded on themselves, then I guess we'll just have to wait and see
Keep in mind - YOKO ONO fucking RULES.
So is there just to be 1 album and no tour ever? Wow that"s...that's....that's just (http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/ag114/IggyPip/tumblr_nf21o6rDW91qatq71o1_500_zpsklaca60k.jpg)

If Teri/Omar are truly not together anymore, and it's not friendly, then give it time, there could still be a tour. Omar would just be the odd one out. I can't see why this would affect her musical relationship w/ Buzz/Dale. Where's Rutmanis?, I'm sure he could fit it in between Hepa/Titus' schedule.
I do feel odd posting this, I want to state it's just me imagining scenarios. This whole thing so far is gossip/rumor mill bullshit. No one here really knows what's going on with Crystal Fairy and the real reason the shows were cancelled.
Thanks Mom you always know the right thing to say to make me feel better. :)

score! a direct hit! :D
I hear the quarrel started when Omar left his plate, knife fork and glass standing left on the kitchen table after dinner, without bringing it over to the kitchen sink as Gender Bender had stressed a thousand times that he should do and that it escalated further when Omar left the toilet seat up, after some minutes later.

I heard it was Teri kept squeezing the toofpaste tube in the middle, while Buzz, Dale, and Omar kept stressing you have to roll it from the bottom. And when she left the cap off it was the last straw.

what kind of sick son of a bitch....
Omar also cut Buzz short in traffic, not a wise thing to do.
Omar was jealous of Buzz fro
Omar was always putting the toilet paper under instead of over and it drove everyone nuts.

There were also an issue regarding the use of, or more precisely the non-use of, the toilet brush.

the original patent. get your shit together Omar.
Omar is the weak link to this band IMO. His work will always remind me of the bro's that I went to high school with that were really into the red hot chilli peppers and john frusciante. I swear I remember an interview with him where he was talking about how he was a recovering cannabis addict and that he was smoking over an ounce a day. I call bullshit. No thanks.

I think that was the singer--Cedric? I recall that lame interview as well. But I have no horse in this race it seems. Crystal Fairy doesn't really do anything for me. I'm passing on the whole endeavor.

Possibly but remember he's on bass - very little means to scupper anything there. Having listened to De Facto before, i'd say he's a decent bassist too. For me i think it is more Teri's involvement that had the potential to wreck things. Don't get me wrong, i like her singing but some of her solo work (and Bosnian Rainbows) doesn't do much for me personally.
I've listened to the album several times now and will have to say that Teri's singing is versatile and strong. And this is from someone who thinks most (and I said MOST) women can't rock.
From the Rolling Stone album stream & interview.
QuoteThe initial five live dates for this month got cancelled. Are there new Crystal Fairy tour dates being booked?
Crover: Working on it. Trying to work on redoing everything. Unfortunately we're all in other bands, so things get a little confusing.

this is in my opinion one of the most interesting parts of this interview, explains a lot of things about recent Melvins releases
QuoteOsborne: We did three songs the first day, wrote and recorded, as they are on the record, "Drugs on the Bus," "Necklace of Divorce" and "Bent Teeth." And then Omar put his bass on 'em. It's extraordinary [laughs]. ... Me and Dale are smart guys when it comes to knowing when things are done. You can beat the life out of something. I've seen it, I've done it. A record like [1989's] Ozma sounds flogged. 'Cause all we did was rehearse 'cause we had nothing else to do. I do not want to ruin it with my own insecurities.
And the most exciting part being:
"I'm also working on a solo record that I've been planning for a while. It's gonna be on Joyful Noise. I did that crazy [10-inch "12-sided" lathe cut] record with them. That thing is insane for them to make; they had to hand-make every record. Each one took about 45 minutes. Anyway, I knew that a lot of people missed out on the actual music part, which is all these crazy little drum haikus. Kind of like little commercials. When I was recording it, I was thinking about TV theme songs. Anyway, I'm like, "Let's do a full-length record that everybody can buy – I'll include the drum bits, and then I'll write bunch more of those and I'll write some regular songs." I'm almost done with it."

#-o how i could forget about that. i'm getting old
At the Drive In has dates in March. Omar went for the cash grab. Can't blame him.
after seeing Le Butcherettes open for ATDI last night, and now finally listening to the Crystal Fairy record, i definitely want to see that band.
I shall be honest enough to say that if Crystal Fairy tours Europe and I attend a gig, I will come for Melvins and will be very dissapointed if I will only see Crystal Fairy and not a separate set with Melvins as they have done before.

That probably explains the mystery as to why the CF shows were cancelled, ATDI were offered shows at the same time which no doubt were more lucrative.
