Yes, I think it's the first time they'll play Turkey.
Probably the closest gig for me unless they decide to come back to TLV again...
Also I think it's the first time they play North-West France? Brest, La Rochelle...
16 Oct, Hamburg LOGO

Sorry, MJ, I just had to check if any went on my joke. But what a blast it would be, if Melvins played in Turkey for the first time! Russia for that matter. In fact, Russia is a huge market on alternative and metal, so perhaps Melvins should try Russia, St Petersburg and Moscow?
I'm pretty sure that after the Fantômas shows in Russia, Buzz said he's cool on ever going back over there.

I never had much hope after learning about their bad experience with Fantomas,
then Boris came to us in 2016 and 2017 and I got hopeful again,
but now Oscar's post lowered my hope again.

Between the 15th and 23rd would be almost enough time for them to come to Australia do a full national tour and then head back to Europe/UK ;)
I'm getting a bit nervous it's starting to look like an Australian tour might not be on the cards this time, last year's tour was right after the Europe/UK leg in early November.
Not that i pay too much attention to these things, but it seems that most bands only ever really tour America and Europe. At least consistently anyway. If someone lives elsewhere they are going to have to travel.

International bands of all shapes and sizes tour Australia during their album cycles. The only band of 'note' I can think of that hasn't on their most recent album cycle is RHCP which I think is the only album cycle they haven't come here for since they became huge in the early 90's.
Since I've been acutely aware of the Melvins they've done Australian tours in 1997, 2001 (supporting Tool), 2003 (Ipecac Geek Show), 2009, 2011, 2013 & 2017. There may have been others I'm unaware of too.

I'd like to go to Groningen, haven't been there yet and it looks like an interesting enough place....
Haarlem's very Dutch - windmills and canals everywhere.
I must say it`s kind of boring that they choose the same route in Europe, every year. By no means complaining, but same venues and cities in Scandinavia.

the way la rochelle -> bern is more or less the same as la rochelle -> milano...
milano -> bern is no problem at all....

Steven is a big guy, that Warlock Looking bass must be Mammoth sized for anyone under 6 Feet tall.
I had something like that once with black flat wounds, it was a B.C. Rich from the mid 80's, about $400 from a pawn shop, it sounded like a Diesel truck at full blast....sometimes I miss it...same cream colour too except it had more of a horn someone chopped off so it would fit into a case...it was a decent instrument but not my go-to...someone had also filed down the frets on it to for some reason. I found the wiring was very tricky to adjust between pickups as if it was modified or something different about the configuration no one understood exactly.
It had an extremely Dry gutsy attack with no *oomph* or smooth sustain... no top end, Just pure Low end punch...it doesn't make sense on it's own sound-wise until you throw in a really heavy guitar into the mix.
You need tight leather pants and a Perm to really get the most out of that Bass.
The ZZ top Flying V bass and the B.C. Rich looking bass are so off the wall, just like the line up itself. :D

yeah man cool show, I liked them better than one year ago. first time with pinkus for me. the 2 bassist setup works really well for me also great set list. eventhough personally I could do without the bowie and stones covers... but well, not that they hurt either.
we were standing more to stevens side. highlights: at a crawl, stop/moving to florida, let it all be. also they closed with rebel girl and brought the 2 shitkid members on stage for that.
all in all nothing drastic to report; melvins are still my best band ever.
also merch: ozma and pinkus shirts. they also have another limited edition shirt that has parts of the paris showposter printed, i.e. the 2 swans and uses a stoner witch melvins font. looked nice but I passed. my friend bought the ozma shirt.
cds: pinkus abortion technician (ipecac version, signed) and pinkus cd.
you could get the bern show poster (as posted by budspawn) for a pay-what-you-want price.

Yep. I saw them last year in orlando and it was more fast and punkish. I appreciate the slow and heavy.
Im from florida! I enjoyed the florida jabs.
I walked up to two groupd of two guys and asked "buddy holiday? Budspawn?". I think they thought i was selling weed. 😂
great show, as always, although i also appreciate the slow and heavy more than the fast and punky. but any set with "the bit" and " let it all be" and "eye flys" and "don't forget to breathe" in it will work just fine for me :D
loved watching jeff and steven duel each other.
the only thing with having the two of them there is that to my ears the basses took a little too much of buzz' sonic space away. but that may sound differently in different venues of course.
what did you guys think of the sound yesterday? took a long time for the sound man to get the basses right, first 2o minutes were a distorted mess i thought...

loved watching jeff and steven duel each other.
the only thing with having the two of them there is that to my ears the basses took a little too much of buzz' sonic space away. but that may sound differently in different venues of course.
I was not sure if both bassists come over for the European show: Really looking forward to see them both. Wednesday: Yeah!
Only problem: Berghain does not allow to take any photos because it would take some of the unexpected from the dark rooms they have there for their techno parties.
A video...a couple more on my YouTube.

Airline tickets Bergen - Oslo is not what they used to be, I`m not spending 4000 kroner, 500 USD, to go back and forth, plus hotel, plus, plus, plus. So another lucky fella has bought my two. I really hope Melvins can break out of this rhythm, with only revisiting the same cities and venues each Euro tour. And alos play more saturdays, cause it`s easier to travel in weekends, not having to drop work days. Not complaining, but it would be a dream if they one time ended up visiting Bergen Rock City.

How long is the drive between Bergen and Oslo?
8 hours both ways. 450 k x2,, with everything from 60 - 80 km in speed limit. Over a mountain range, not an option at all. Snow danger too.
Any surprises on the setlist so far?

Any surprises on the setlist so far?
Same as the US with Rebel Girl together with Shitkid added as a closer
After almost exactly one year ago, I've seen Melvins again yesterday in Haarlem. What a great show, loved it. The band had so much fun, great to see. Unfortunately missed Shitkid, got at the venue a bit too late. I'm not a huge Jon Spencer fan, so during that spent some time with friends. Highlights for me in the setlist were At a Crawl, Let it all Be, Don't forget to Breathe, and Rebel Girl with Shitkid. It was also great to hear The Talking Horse again live, I'm quite sure they haven't played that since the ASA tour? Sound was good, I only couldn't really hear Pinkus his vocals at some parts. Merch same as mostly in Europe, shirts and a poster.
Although I really liked this set and lineup, I do hope to see both Coady and Crover again on stage at some point. Maybe take it even a step further, and do double bass, double drums? It wouldn't suprise me.
