Went to the Grumpy's show last night and in my 30 years of seeing the Melvins it was easily in the top 5 Melvins shows I've been to. They were amazing and the intimacy of a Grumpy's show is always special. Gay Witch Abortion threw me for a loop though because they pretty much did the opposite of what I'm used to them doing. They had Haze on synths and Shannon Selberg singing. The guitar player played the bass the entire time. It sounded like some kind of Kraut Rock/Bauhaus type jamming. It was good but different.
The interplay between Steven and Buzz at this point is on point. It was hard getting used to Steven in the beginning but now he adds so much more to the music I don't think I'd want to see them with anyone else, well that's not true. A Dunn appearance is always good, Pinkus too but Steven just adds so much more.
Great review!
