Hoping for good news soon about the surgery.
I'm sure it will be some time until we get an update about this. In the meantime we all wish for the best. Unfortunately this will cast something of a shadow over the tour but ultimately what is important is that Dale gets healthy and takes it from there.

get well and thanks for not getting douchebag Grohl to cover for ya!
Rootin' for ya Crover! Even if you have to hang it up, you've had an incredibly influential career lasting way longer than most. Like someone mentioned earlier, of course you'll stay involved, switching over to the stringed instruments and production 8) health comes first
Even though I have never met him (yet), Dale and I share a special bond. We were both born on the same day, in the same year.
Dale, I wish you a speedy recovery and wish you and the rest of the gang best of luck!
Let's start a GoFundMe for Dale if he starts having financial issues caused by this awful event.
:| [-(
This sucks. I wish him a good recovery and hope he gets well soon. We can't do without Dale now do we?
I really hope he isn't in too much pain and gets well soon. Having back problems myself, I know it can hurt as hell.
If he has to hang it up, I think they already have the perfect replacement in Coady. ideally Coady stays in the band now and Dale returns so we have the brutal double drums back in the band.

If he has to hang it up
don't want to think about that, it would be the darkest day EVER
and on a related note, Melvins without Dale is not Melvins, at least for me
Who better than Jesus (JZS) to give salvating blessings for Dale Crovers wellbeing. Dale is more fit than the average on his own age, he will recover good, greetings and karma from Bergen!
Get well Dale, you are one of the pillars of the band, never forget that!!!

Coady can't devote to Melvins, High On Fire AND Big Business all at the same time!

I know you've seen it that way. Personally i really don't know what to think. Whether i feel the same or not. I can't decide. The only thing i can say for certain is that Melvins without Buzz is DEFINITELY not Melvins!
Wishing Dale the very best in recovery. He's a an excellent musician and a swell person. The Melvins can't be the same without him.
Any talk of Dale not returning to the Melvins on the drum throne is completely premature. He is getting spinal surgery, he is taking care of himself instead of doing a tour that could have made things worse for him.
True. I definitely want to proceed just optimistic for his return.
I agree, just hope he gets well soon and i'm sure we see him back in action after this tour.
Absolutely sending the best vibes to Dale.
Can't wait to see him rage again behind the kit.
my old, overweight dad recently had back surgery. we were all terrified but it was a complete success and he's making a full recovery. if that makes anyone feel better about dale's prognosis. and if nothing else maybe my dad can sit in on drums for the melvins.

yeah if its a disc he can recover, but if there is fusion involved, he wont be the same.
Spinal surgery is a scary thing, especially when the word "emergency" is involved. My sis had that in 2017 and was told before the surgery she was one wrong move away from paralysis. She still has some numbness in one of her legs.
I also think back to when Des Kensel got emergency surgery in his neck to which they put a cadaver bone in his neck. He stated "one slight mistake in a surgery like that and you're dead."
Wishing Dale a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery in all this.
I just found out about this tonight, right now at the show in Pomona, CA. I signed a huge ass card that a fan made to give to our drum god. Here's to hoping all goes well. Terrible news.
Coady will be filling in but it just won't be the same.
:(

Yes, let's keep it positive people !
This is a get well soon page, so stop speculating.

I'm hoping for a Dale Crover Band song on the third album about the Jello in the hospital.
Get well soon, Creepy Crover.

This free gig at Amoeba was my first time seeing them live. Total killer show!
Good luck and wishing a speedy recovery, Mr. Crover.
I remember about 5-6 yrs ago, Neil Fallon of Clutch had to postpone a tour due to emergency back surgery. It all went well and he was back to his usual self within 6 months or so.

I'm sure there is a lot of difference between one persons bad back and another, but still don't forget that Neil is a singer. I would imagine playing drums would pose more potential recurring back problems than other musicians may encounter.
Gentlemen we can rebuild him
We have the technology
We have the capability to make the worlds first bionic drummer
Dale Crover will be that man
Better than he was before
Better, Stronger, Faster

Buzz said pre-covid Dale has a degenerative back condition so there will never be a 'back to normal' again. Drumming is a very physically demanding job which is why a lot of older band have young drummers, it's a young man's game. Dale is probably around late 50's which isn't all that old but Melvins tour a lot harder than most bands so Dale probably has more miles on his body than some of the older drummers.
I just hope with emergency spinal surgery he's able to have good quality of life in the future, I wouldn't worry about him drumming for the Melvins again those days are likely over.
If Dale can`t return on drums, Dale must either play the guitar (two guitar players, why not?) or bass!
B Walsby just posted on instagram to send good vibes today to Dale, wonder if it means he's going to have surgery

mmmh, i don't get why he said to send good thoughts TODAY then
QuoteHey internet folks and friends all over the world.....
Send some good thoughts and some good juju today to the nicest guy on earth, Dale Crover, seen on the right in this picture I took.
Cheers!
perhaps its a second surgery
I believe the surgery is happening today from posts by Melvins, Steven, Coady and Brian.
Dale has got this!
Sending all the good vibes available to Dale!
One of the posts mentioned upper back surgery so that's all the more unnerving.
All the good vibes to Dale.
We don't know exactly what it is of course but this sounds positive.
How long does it take to recover from upper spine surgery?
You may have trouble sitting or standing in one position for very long. You may need to wear a neck brace for a while. Most people can go back to work after 4 to 6 weeks. But it may take a few months to get back to your usual activities.
Pre-show talking to Buzz a while back he said Dale's back issue is "very debilitating".
Dale looked great as he played that night, so he must have been toughing it out.
Get well Dale!
Get wells and good vibes indeed! Much love to Dale!

Yes indeed, thanx for the update. Very good to hear the surgery was successful. But yeah, as Nizamark notes, recovery. I'm dealing now w/ a loved one going thru recovery from a super major operation. A heavy and hard journey it is. Keeping Dale in the thoughts ... keep tough Mr. Crover!

One kit. Dale on the skins, Coady on the cymbals.
I am betting we get some double drums. The first thing that I thought when I saw Coady playing on this tour was - "Oh man, we should get double drums again." Why not? And add double bass and double guitar. WHY NOT?
not sure about the double drums, i think Coady will be the Melvins drummer for the tour with Mr Bungle
Mr.Crover back on drums

"We are working on an upcoming DCB album" - awesome! I presume DCB means Dale Crover Band. I did think that having so much time off, he might pass the time writing another solo record.
Steven said the new Redd Kross is almost done, a fan asked if Dale was drumming on it and he replied not because he was still recovering when they started but he will be back on drums later this year
That probably suggests Dale likely won't be drumming on the Australian tour then.
