Title: GPT vs. Ozma
Post by: Bryan on January 12, 2005, 11:14:00 AM
Do you prefer Gluey or Ozma?  At first I didn't like ozma, but it really grew on me. I dig some songs on Gluey, but alot of it seems to blend together through my ears. GPT has actually become one of my least favorites. Anybody else feel this way?

Ozma is better IMO, more diversity and some cool cover songs like Love Thing and Candy-O

IMO the songs are more developed on Ozma, but I HATE the way it was recorded. Dale's drums sound weak which sucks 'cause he was playing some his coolest shit at that time. I would be first in line to by the re-issue if the Melvins ever released one though.

On a side note, the first CD I ever owned of the Melvins was Ozma/GPT and so those songs were my first impression of them. I remember being very addicted to that CD. I would play it over and over again. I love the picture on the inside of the liner notes with Buzz, Dale and Lori with the cat!

yea i prefer ozma too, but gluey porch treatments is still a good record. I agree tho, the drums do sound weak but the songs are more....lisenable than gluey porch. Both rule tho.

I like Ozma and all, but Gluey just totally slays my face off. There isn't anything as good as Eye Flys on Ozma. Gluey is recorded better also yes.

Cool, I always thought Love Thing sounded Kiss-ish.

Ozma, for sure.

Of course.. Eye Flys is the best track of both of the two albums (in my opinion), but, on the whole thing, Ozma is a better listen.

You are all right about the production though.. fucking weak ass drums on Ozma.

Ozma + GPT's Production === FUCKING AWESOME album.

I have to vote for Ozma, but it is unfortunate....

No matter how loud it turn it up, it's like, it needs to be louder. Loud! Loud!

I like Ozma's production, even though its a little weak- the bass drum sounds funny, and the snare is like- "PH!" But in the end i like Ozma better than GPT because i like so many more songs on it better than those on GPT. Ozmas first 6 songs are like my six children. I yell at them to come to dinner, "COME ON VILE, OVEN, AT A CRAWL, LET GOD BE YOUR GARDENER, CREEPY SMELL AND KOOL LEGGED, YOUR BEANS ARE READY!!!!!!!" However lame that joke was i also like Revulsion/We Reach a lot. BTW i think that both Ozma and GPT have equally bad production- try listening for the bass drum in GPT- ITS COVERED IN LOW END!
