Great Thread....

1.   Gluey Porch Treatments (IMO, if you dont like this one, you dont "get" the Melvins yet)

2.   Stoner Witch

3.   Honky

4.  Ozma

5.  Stag(this one really should be higher cuz its packed full of so much stuff, but im going more by what ive found myself listening to the most)

6.  10 songs

7.  Houdini

8.  HAT

9.  Lysol

10.  Eggnog (eggnog is awesome, but its not a full-length, so its not really fair to rate it along with the others)

11.  Bullhead (awesome songs, just cant get used to the production)

12.  POTRE (still a decent release, just not one of my favorites)

I always think of the Ipecac Trilogy as 1 whole, so i didnt include any of them individually in the list, but Bootlicker would rate pretty high if on its own.

Can't do it, it's too hard.

to follow someone else's lead, my five on the island might be:

-Gluey
-Honky
-HAT
-Stag
-POTRE

Good listening value i think :)

I think it would be easier to pick my least favourites. which, of course, doesn't mean that I don't still love 'em.
-Crybaby
-Houdini
-Never Breathe (if this counts)

Here we go, this is in very loose order:

Houdini
Bullhead
Hostile Ambient Takeover
Honky
Lysol
The Maggot
Stag
Gluey Porch Treatments
Stoner Witch
The Bootlicker
Colossus of Destiny
Pigs Of The Roman Empire
Prick
Ozma
Your Choice Live Series
Electroretard
The solo EPs (collectively, I have them burned onto a single disc, Individually I rank them: Buzz, Dale, Joe)
10/26 Songs
The Crybaby
Millennium Monsterwork
The Mangled Demos
Singles 1-12

I really tend gruop 'em in 5s, so any of the first 5 might switch around, but are higher than any of the next 5. Never Breathe What You Can't See is to A Jello Biafra album with the MELVINS as guests. I don't rank it with the MELVINS albums. I like it, it just sounds more like a Jello album. Alive at.. and Eggnog are EPs, so I don't rank them with the albums. Eggnog would be rather high, Alive at would be kinda low.

I agree about the solos.  many others here seem to think the opposite which confuses me.  i think joe's is alright, but not genius.  buzz's has a really great sound, even though every single song has the exact same structure.  i find dale's to be very surprising.  almost cheesy.

i am somewhat shocked to find 10 songs at the bottom of your loose list.
i think that stuff is real gold.

i also think the singles discs are pretty amusing and insightful (in relation to the band's personality and sense of humor/seriousness).  but to be fair, i guess it really doesn't belong high on a list.

its true.  but they sound real similar to me in that they both start sort of simple and rhythmically and then progress to a riff, and wind up being somewhat repetitive.  don't get me wrong, i think the rhythms and riffs are great.  just not as freely structured as like, a song on gpt.  yaknow?  i'm definitely not complaining here though.

The Your Choice version of Anaconda is GOD!

Well.......even wayyy back in the day I always thought YCLS was a pretty boring record but I do agree that Anaconda (and Heater Moves) is the best track on it. Crover's drums sound great, but the vocals (and this is the only time the vocals have ever bothered me on a Melvins record) sound........tired?
Preston has a cute sound effect track, a crushing riffer and.......well, I'm not sure if I just don't like drone or if its this drone but I don't have the patience for "Hans". I hope his second flower comes quicker.
COD I never put on either but it makes a good headphone exercise.
