I think I heard Buzzo say in some interview that the National Enquirer had an article about Lori once, and it said something totally stupid like "The Melvins got Shirley Temple's daughter hooked on drugs", and the article was written in a way that blames the Melvins for it. I didn't believe that she was dead when I first heard Buzz say that, since it is the National Enquirer we're talking about, but since another magazine stated that she died, I'm starting to believe it now.

Maybe it says it in the liner notes on Mark D.'s solo album. She'd probably still be alive if that were the case, since I don't think Mark D. recorded it before late-1998, which people say was the year Lori died. So the whole article from that magazine about Lori's death might be just hearsay. But maybe not. This is confusing.

This 7 song cassette is from 1985. Lori Black (Lorax) would later play bass for the MELVINS. Mark, who played guitar in Clown Alley, would ALSO later play bass for the MELVINS. The MELVINS even performed one of these songs:

I was actually coming online to see if there was any new information on the Melvins because I see they're playing at the Troubadour in LA Oct 14th so I was thinking of checking them out. Lori always said to yell, "Freebird" at Buzz to get him to play it at shows, that's what Lori and Buzz used to do together.
As far as I know, Lori is still alive. I dated her a couple of years ago. She is a really special person and I love her very much. BUT, she did get in trouble while on tour with the Melvins for receiving a "special" package in the mail and the cops found out somehow.
She was never homeless or an alcoholic. Although she and Buzz used to joke about drinking. I don't think she ever did.
Why is she out of the Melvins? She just couldn't take all the traveling anymore or at least that is what she told me. I never questioned it.
She's out there somewhere, last I heard somewhere in the Silicon Valley but who knows now.
Lori, if you read this, I wish you the best and I hope you're doing well and may the love of Mahakala be with you.

I just wanted to let the fans know and actually we never took pictures together. I took one of her but that's the only memory I have of Lori.
She had to worry about pictures of her being sold to magazines. She wasn't in Enquirer as some have said in this thread, it was Star.
But honestly, I don't think she was ever into me, she was still into Buzz but ya can't blame me for trying.

i dont think buzz has quite tapped 40 yet. he went to school with cobain so he cant be more than 39-40. its sad that me poor brain cant remember cause i did used to know when his b-day was cause a friend of mine knew him and did a tori amos-style version of its shoved(cant remember really what song, do know its on bullhead) for a gift.

If anybody has the book "Come As You Are", I am pretty sure that it states that Buzz was born in 1965. Cobain was born in 1967 and Buzz is a couple years his senior according to the book.

That birthday in July for Buzz is wrong. I know that he's an Aries, and so is his wife. I would say he's about 43. In 1985 they were starting to tour, and he was probably in his early 20's at the time. By my calculations he was probably about 24 or so back then, maybe born in 1961. Cobain was born in 67, they probably just knew each other from the local music scene, which couldn't have been too large...

I've search some death archives and there is nothing listed for Lori or her mom and it's star that she was in.

I was of the understanding that Lorax was kicked out of the band because of her increased drug habits, I may be wrong. Eggnog was the last release she is credited on. Although I remember her mentioned on Houdini also, not sure...
Wasn't Joe Preston already in the band by the time that Bullhead and Eggnog came out? Because he was in the salad of 1000 delights video , and that was filmed in 1991.

I think he joined at the end of 91, after Eggnog came out, because Lorax is credited with bass on both. I'm looking at my copy of Bullhead and her picture with a guitar in front of it is on the inside, along with Buzz and Dale, also with guitars in front of them.

When I was a kid I used to think all the Sun headlines were real, because I couldn't comprehend that it would be legal to print that stuff. So because essentially I am very gullible I became a skeptic as a defense mechanism, I suppose. Yesterday I said this exact statement outloud to a passenger in my van, and then took a right turn only to find myself right behind a car with a license tag that said "SKEPTIC." Weird huh?
