HELLO.......................MELVIN FANS,
I just wanted to let everyone know what a great bunch of guys { dale, buzzo and especially dave ] are. Lividity[ tommy ] and I, went to see the MELVINS in Philly [ first unittarin church 21 & CHESTNUT] IN oct 26. The concert was sold out. tommy [ who is a total melvans fan ] really wanted to see them play. so we went down there early to see if we could get in . We were there for three hours and nothing. as we were waiting, we noticed dale and dave walking down the street, I called them over they were kind enough to stop and say HI and shook tommys hand [ that made his year] 5 minutes later buzzo walkked bye and was also nice enough to stop and say HI to tommy. A few more hours went bye and still no tickets. I was starting to worry how I was going to get him in. Then dave came up to the car and took tommy's name and myslelf and put us on there guest list so we got in as [ tommy and 1 ] We got to watch the show right up close to the stage. As dave was coming off the stage I thanked him very much and he was glad we got in.Even though I'm tommy's MOM, I was a rock & roller in bands for 25 years and all I have to say is WOW........... the band was unbelevable. i enjoyed it as much as tommy. I am a drummer and so is tommy ,I've seen a lot of drummers in my time [ even sat on stage watching Jon Bonnom with ZEPPLIN] back in the day] Dale blew me away ,great drummin. I JUST wanted to let all the fans out there what a great bunch of guys the melvins are not only as musicians but also as kind people also .
THANK YOU MELVINS
TOMMY & 1
P.S.
TO SHANNON AND JOHN THANKS FOR BIENG TOMMYS BACKUP GREAT MEETING YOU HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN....THANK YOU
Wow, great story there. I love posts like this.
That's cool.
My Dad took me to see Black Flag in 1984, even though he doesn't like any kind of Rock N Roll and stayed in the car the whole time.
It's nice to see supportive parents out there.
damn, wish i made it to philly that night
my parents didn't want me around "that type of crowd." it took them damn near ten years to realize that it wasn't a phase.
glad to see there are cool parents out there. don't get me wrong i got cool parents. just wish they understood where i came from at that crucial point in my life.
but yeah, cool story. sounds like you got a real cool mom Lividity.
Hey Rhett E,
I have a quote from you on tape:
Dale Crover: This next song is El Stupido
Rhett: That sounds like my........
very nice story.
my dad watches the same shows like me, he has seen the melvins 6 times and he loves it.
i love it to get to a concert having my father with me, most people are kind of surprised, but just because someone is somewhat older than the majority, it doesn't mean to listen to boring music.
there were even shows here where the band spends us soem beers because they think that having two generations in the crowd is really cool...
btw, are there any other families here with two generations listening to exactly the same music? my father loves: melvins, sonic youth, neurosis, depeche mode, dillinger escape plan, nine inch nails etc...

Anyway, let me just say that I want to have long hair but can't. My school made me cut the thing...so that would alter my appearance a bit, wouldn't it? Oh yeah, and thanks everyone.

they're both adorable 8)
For some reason I thought when I first read this post that Lividity was joking about taking his mom to a Melvins show. For some reason I just can't picture someone with their parents at a Melvins concert.
My Dad came to the Houdini show in London. He said 'Good drums'. I told him he was correct.
your school makes you cut your hair? i didn

I took both my parents to see the Melvins last fall. They were in town, so were the Melvins. So, I took them. It was fun. Afterwords my Dad said something like "That drummer really earns his keep" I agreed.
