Just curious. Does anyone have an overall favourite Melvins song?
I've been trying a lot to think if i do and i can't think of one. I've occasionally had ones that i've listened to a lot at certain points, like i was obsessed a few years ago with As was it/easy as it was and many others, but i don't think i've ever had an absolute stand out favourite song. I like many if not all.
Sorry if this has ever been discussed before.
If I had to spend eternity with only one Melvins song playing over and over I would pick Revolve.
Tough to decide favourite, with each album having sucha different sound. My favourite is either 'Let God Be Your Gardener' or 'Isabella' this answer will inevitably change in a few weeks though!

nothing really happens. If you say something like "hey that dale crover he knows a thing or two about hitting the drums" you get good karma equally "i have a bootleg do you want it?" is resulting in good karma. Bad karma results from such quotes as "perhaps buzzo's voice doesn't sound good on this song" which would be a valid point unless you were talking about something like i dunno, every melvins song? regardless you cant do anything with karma, i'd like to say it had some overwhelming good but sadly no. Studying existentialism does this to me. Anyway I would have to say perhaps the fool the meddling idiot or Boris. The lyrics to Boris are orgasmic, infact the whole song is.

It mostly depends on which dvd I have been watching. At the moment I'd say I have about 10 dvd's, which I have ordered from Beto, and the last few days I've been enjoying a 2003 show where the Melvins pull of an excellent version of the Anti-Vermin Seed (as most live performances put the album versions to shame).

this song never gets old, i love mostly all of the melvins tracks, but this one is always there for me.
Revolve. It's the song that hooked me originally, and still does it for me years later. There's something about At A Crawl too...

I like Air Breather Deep in the Arms of Morphius a lot.. but I have no definite favourite melvins song.
"Air Breather Deep In The Arms Of Morphius" is a masterpiece. It's like a 12-minute glimpse into another world or something. I love it.

yea, the anticipation leading up to that song is remarkable. it's nice when they tease us and play the intros a bit longer. then you get that big slide from buzz and the wonder thunder is under way

Pretty impossible to pick just one but I will say that Night Goat is a constant member of any top five Melvin songs list I would ever make.

Skin Horse, Dale tears it up. and i gotta agree with Brian on Hog Leg. i mean grant it always Revolves but if i was At the Stake forced to Starve Already, i would choose those two.

yeah sphincter tree along with all the honky songs are in extreme heavy rotation.recently got it in the mail. good music to get stoned to on rainy mornings. roaaaaaaaach regularly gets played on my guitar

that's a toughie. but with teeth has been a perennial favorite for quite some time. though i think civilized worm might be their best track now. anaconda is really solid and so is zodiac. i could probably narrow it down to five favorite tracks. the fifth one would be the bit.

Honeybucket is a terrific song, that scores high on my Melvinsometer. Without rating it`s that song, Sacrifice, Let It all Be, Amazon and Hooch that first springs to mind. It`s impossible for me to make a pick, and I`m quite sure I`ve forgotten other tracks that are superb.

Anyone else like prig... that song is "the" song for me at this time. Especially at 4min50 into the song... it switches up superbly (reminiscent of "skin Horse").
That first half is an mazing build up SWITCH fucking best 2nd half of a melvins song... i dont know why but i like when the melvins bring in the softness.

After seeing the last two shows of this tour.....Night Goat live is absoluckinflutely great. The buildup makes you feel like your getting ready to rip people in half.

"Hag Me" was my click song, so I'd have to say that one.
By click song, I mean "Hag Me" was the exact point where my brain had that click moment and I realized what the Melvins were doing and how brilliant they were. The click moment where I was converted into a Melvins fan.
I love the Sweet Willy Rollbar-into-Revolve combo though, but those are two songs that I can't seem to listen to separate from each other, so that doesn't count.

Yeah, there's got to be a better term for it than "click song."
Whats funny though, is that Houdini was the third album by the Melvins that I bought. I went through Stoner Witch and Bullhead before I really got it.
But I think Stoner Witch has a more immediate accessability that kept me coming back. I mean, my dad loves Revolve, and he doesn't like/get the sludgier stuff.

i've already shared the story of how my friend made me sit down next to his speakers at full volume and listen with my eyes closed... it was hog leg.
i bought ozma/gpt and bullhead and liked those a lot but didn't like houdini when i heard it the first time. it was the first melvins album i heard - before the hog leg thing- and it scared me. but my friend persisted because he knew i would come around eventually.
