Nice up to date picture and bio!
Thurston Moore picked the bands this time around, so we have Sonic Youth, The Stooges and Six Organs of Admittance too. Looks quite quite good. I didn't know the lanky old bastard was a Melvins fan.
Alright, I'm going.
WHERE THE HELL IS THIS???
Im going too! :x
It used to be held in London, now it's in Glastonbury. I have already figured out from outside the UK you have to travel to Bristol by plane, and then travel to a station nearby Glastonbury, that ride will take almost an hour.
Hey, if anyone wants to go to this and wants to share a chalet/berth, contact me. I hope I can find someone who's willing to pay 200 euro for a ticket plus over 200 euro for the plain ticket but it's hard to say. Although this little info could help convincing at least one person to consider to go.

Butlins Minehead looks out across a superb sandy beach. The new site not only has a supermarket, newsagent and cash points, it also has Burger King, Pizza Hut, Finnigan
The bands stay in the chalets too, so you will probably see Buzz and Dale playing crazy golf.
I would totally be up for this but it will be a month or so before I can buy a ticket. I have to sort out other things like some money, my job and where the hell I will be living when i'm kicked out of this place.
But if that all turns out ok i'm in.
themelvins.net chalet of love :D
Alright, cool. Let's hope this doesn't sell out too quickly.
Holy shit! I'm down for going....How many days is this?
By the way does price include lodging and entertainment?
-Candy
Nevermind, I found out. Looks tempting but not sure if I can get away for more than three days around Christmas. This can easily turn into five days after flights in out of London and then to venue.....Anyone know for sure?
damn, that means we would have to fly to london first, then change planes to bristol, THEN ride the train. and man, those are expensive tickets for just 3 days! should i get a license or do this? crap, i need a job!

Can't you fly directly tyo Bristol?
i doubt it, not from the airport we usually travel from (its cheap, close, and has got ryanair). most other companies are really expensive, probably 500 euros or something for the cheapest tickets. but i wanna go! i should do some research! so is the airport just called bristol, or does it have another name?
would it be possible to go by train from stansted or somewhere in london?
where would we go? to bristol or glastonbury or what? (whats the station called)
http://www.atpfestival.com/events/event_information.php?event=102
The station is called Taunton.
Acocording to http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ the journey takes approx. 2 hours.
QuoteBy train or rail If you are travelling by train, the nearest main line station to Minehead is Taunton. A bus transfer service is operated by Southern National between Taunton Station and Minehead. This service is available at an additional cost. On Mondays to Saturdays, there's approximately an hourly service, with the last bus leaving Taunton Railway Station at 10:15 pm. On Sundays and Bank Holidays services run every 2 hours from 9:35 am - 9:35 pm. For general information call Southern National on 01823 272033. Please note that National Express coaches stop inside the main entrance.
great, they go directly from paddington! thanks :D

no shit cap. listen to these europeans! complaining about a little travel? these are the same europeans who have gotten the big band tour, houdini live show, porn show, (soon) big business tour, etc, etc.
what have us americans got? one or two shows in the last year all on the tight west coast. anymore it seems europe is the place of choice for melvins and melvins related to play. what ever happened to the good old U.S. of A?
I agree. The shows in the States are crummy compared to European ones. Now us Melvinites have to travel by land and sea to a desolate fucking city to hear our demi gods. ....THAT'S NOT COOL
Fuck. :x
Couldn't they have at least picked a Capital city?
WITHOUT AMERICA, THERE WOULD BE NO MELVINS.
USA!
U S A!
U S A!
U S A!
U S A!
U S A!
Europe is more than Scandinavia and Holland. The Melvins have been fortunate for the UK'ers among us, but how about the people from the South or East of Europe? Remember Kurva? He'll never see the Melvins in Slovakia, I'll give you that.
If I may go, it's gonna cost me about 500 euro, probably a little more. Lucky me I have the money, and since this looks like Disney for stoners, I am definitely willing to spend a few hundred bucks on this festival. Just don't make it easier for us than it is.
Is this about green and fences again?
hey, if you had to pay 1000 dollars to see them, you'd complain too!
but anyway, it wont be that expensive if we go by train :)
whats a chalet anyway? how does it work? do we like get stowed in with lots of disgusting people we don't know, or can we choose who we want to stay with? how many people can live in a chalet? does it have a shower?
i have certain needs!
and why do you americans complain whenever they go out of the US? they stay there most of the year anyway, you just don't like to travel out of your state! [-X
ok, forget that, i'm sure i would as well, cause i complain when they don't come to europe. like i REALLY wanted to go to the oxop show! damn you! damn you all to hell!
well anyway, its not like the play in norway all the time. i've seen melvins, fantomas and tomahawk only one time each in norway. i've seen melvins 2 times in london, and bigband once. so its not like they play right outside my door all the time! they only do that in italy. but i would be fat if i lived there, so i think i'll stay :) anyway, i'm off to oslo to listen to gary baseman :)
it's a 4 hour trip for me. Don't have to fly there either, I like it. Booked my tickets today, so this will be the first look at the melvins big business line up in the UK? also why are you yanks bitching? didnt DSS say melvins were touring the US in the autumn? sorry let me rephrase that, in the Fall? you know? the time of year things fall down.

Yeah but I would never consider seeing any band for 1000 dollars. Or...

There's a lot of information on the website. A chalet is a room or something. Chalets are only available for two persons. In London you used to get four people to get a room, so it's better now in Glastonbury. All chalets have a private bedroom too.
Look for some reviews of former ATP festivals elsewhere in the internet to get a better impression of the festival.
great, i guess we're going then!
the usa sucks thats why...
Much love to my Brit melvin fans but u know what?
that fucking site makes no sense!
Speak fuckin english.....you enlgish tosser cunts
1. How much is a fucking room?
2. how much is a fucking ticket?
3. How many stop overs if comming from states?
jesus fucking a christ, why does every brit manual not answer questions, then give their own names for everyday words, like ticket, room, fare, plane.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!1
USA is the child that grows up to murder his parents....Europe!
Get ready to die mommy!
Glastonbury also has a backpackers hostile that I stayed at once. It was super cheap...like 8 pounds when I was there. That was about 6 years ago though. I'm sure it's still relatively cheap considering the options. Also, there are B&Bs all over that you can stay in that are affordable.

I agree that the website could have been made much better with more information, easier to get. But once you've read the FAQ you got all info you need, right?
Dec 8th - 10th in case you were wondering, like i was
For the people that cant go, there is a chance that you will be able to hear it on the radio. Radio One in the UK have a couple of cool shows that go down there and record for broadcast (they are broadcasting the one coming up soon too), unfortunately there is no guarantee that they will record the Melvins, and that they will even play them if they do. I know the shows arent averse to playing them though, so theres a chance. A couple of weeks back one of the shows had a mix of songs under a minute long, they put in a Melvins one, it was nice to hear them on the radio!! You can listen to the station online btw.
