Melvins will be playing MusicFest NW here in Portland, on either 9/7,9/8, or 9/9. Not sure which date or venue but I'm sure it will be announced.

Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players
anyone seen them?
it's pretty funny
i believe the dad plays the guitar, while his little daughter plays drums
and his wife does the slideshow
it's all about where they've been, what they know
stupid music, but pretty cool show.
I thought the Trachtenburg family used slides that they buy at thrift shops?
I saw them on Conan Obrien. They were pretty funny, I'd love to see them live.
Yup sounds like the Melvins will be joined by Big Business (as I'm sure yall are aware of) and David Scott Stone.
I thought I heard they would be playing the Roseland, but I didn't see any confirmation of that on the website.
That would be sweet, I'm sick of the fucking Crystal, Melvins always sound better at Roseland and *sniffle* the late La Luna.
Saturday the 9th at the Roseland with BB and DSS. I don't know if they are doing individual tickets or if you have to buy the 3 day wristband @ $35. I emailed the event and I hope to hear back soon.

Seattle, Baby! on the five year anniversary of 9/11! (too soon?)
I saw them september 11, 2004. it wasn't too soon then!
So is there someplace that has confirmed tour dates posted? The "Tour Dates" link on the homepage seems to only have things from 2005. I'm unsure if the Hell's Kitchen show is going to work for me, as Tacoma is far away and I don't have any potential places to couch-surf there. Are there any dates in Seattle? (Or, even better, in Bellingham? Probably not... but here's hoping!)
There's only a few dates that have leaked so far; you should be able to find them one of the many other dates thread, or by checking ticketweb. I think there's a show for oregon, and somewhere else, so far.
here's a couple more:

well the last time the Melvins were booked for milwaukee (sept 2004) they canceled.
They were booked at a local shit hole (the Rave http://therave.com/) that gets a lot of the bigger names, but at the same time the assholes that run this place like to make extra cash by charging local bands or any bands for that matter to open for some of these bigger name bands to gain "so called" exposure.
According to the Willamette Week there will be a limited amount of tickets sold for single events at the bigger venues (Roseland, Crystal) and a limited amount at the door. That way you don't have to pay full price for a $35 bracelet for one (or two) shows.

Well, we can hope anyway.
I don't think they've been here since 2003.
We're definitely due. There were rumours of a Jello/Big Business/Melvins tour earlier this year, but don't think that'll be happening anymore.

First of all, because they rule. But yeah, it's a benefit that they could be able to pull it all off in 20 minutes. If Buzz would shut his mouth of course, unlike to their only show so far. Do you have that bootleg, Glen?

So, any info on EU dates yet?
I hear ya, definitely can't miss this one. I'm ready for the letdown though. Melvins haven't played Buffalo NY since '95, Rochester since '97, don't see why they'd get booked now. They normally play Cleveland which is a 4 hr drive, always nice when it's on a weekend, don't have to burn vacation time.

Yeah I hear ya. I live in Syracuse. I end up travelling to NYC everytime they play, like a 5 1/2 hr drive. And the last time I saw them in 2004, the show wasn't that good. That was the show a few days before they cancelled the tour and split w/Kevin. Hopefully they will add some closer dates. I doubt Buffalo or Rochester will be added. It would be nice though. Syracuse doesn't have a venue anymore to support a show that size. They have all closed.

What about Club Tundra, that place closed? That's about the right size venue for Melvins. I saw Isis there in December '04, cool place. Then there's the Haunt in Ithaca. If they played Northern Lights up near Albany, I'd definitely make that trip. I read they played there in '00 or '01, didn't hear about it then. Great club, saw Buckethead there back in March.
It would make sense to play Buffalo, the southern Ontario fans would probably come down too. There have been some great shows with good turnouts in Buffalo this year by related bands - Isis, Dalek, Thrones, High On Fire, Pelican, Sword, Akimbo, Jello spoken word, etc. I know it's not up to the band though, the promoters/club owners have to make it happen.
Just found out the rest of the tour dates haven't been set in stone yet. From a more official source.

Well im from rochester and i can tell you they have never played here, FOR SURE after 94 when I got into them. I went to buffalo in 95, toronto in 2000 NYC in 98?(? not sure of the year here Stag tour), DC and San Francisco last year. I have probably spent more on plane tickets to see this band than i should admit. This year im not waiting...See you all in SEATTLE
FYI = Tix for PDX 9/9 at the Roseland go on sale Wednesday thru Ticketswest for $15. That's 20 bones less than buying a goddamned wristband. Iommi Stubbs is opening.
Also, can we get a forum rollcall? I'd like to meet some of you fuckers before I die.
MELVINS @ Jack Rabbits - Jacksonville FL. 10/31
Melvins did play Rochester in fall '97 opening for Helmet in the gym at R.I.T. I found that info on a fan site. I don't remember hearing/reading about it back then. They might have also played in Roch during the pre-Atlantic years - the late '80s/early '90s dates are vague. Nobody really has a list of all shows played in the early years. I saw that show in Buffalo with White Zombie too. Did you get to see the in-store show at New World Records that afternoon?
Just for shits you should fire off a friendly request to supernautbooking@hotmail.com and tell them to bring the Melvins. I did. They're in Buffalo and they bring ALOT of bands that are heavily influenced by the Melvins - labelmates Isis and bands on Hydrahead particularly. I don't know what else you can do. It's amazing that they can play every year in smaller midwest towns, but we in upstate/western NY get NOTHING year after year. You're probably more diehard than me. I would never fly to see a band. All night drives where I'm back home by 6:00AM are my limit.
I flied the three last times I have seen them.
and I am fllying again in december. :?
I think i'd be willing to fly to see them if i had the cash.
Or grew some wings.
This time around they're actually playing one Canadian date.. unfortunately it's in Vancouver, on the other side of the country, but maybe next time they'll come to Toronto.
where do you keep finding these, glen?

Sorry but I was at that show and Today is the Day opened. NOT the Melvins. Trust me im from rochester-all my life, and they have never played here. I am 31 and have been going to all the shows here since i was 15, and played in bands that whole time, so I have been innvolved with the scene...NOt to sound like a jerk but I am sure of this. I wish I had gone to the in-store. Yeah i am a diehard, me and my wife plan our vacations around the Melvins tour schedule..HAHA i know it sounds crazy, but who knows how much longer they will be around......

I've spent so much fucking money on Melvins albums, shirts, books etc... but those lazy fucks for some reason can only find time to come here once every oh ten or so fucking years?!?! I am fucking grumpy..... the closest show to me is the Vancouver one and I really wouldn't mind doing it if maybe they could release the dates a little bit sooner so that people from me from out of town (ie, the rest of canada) could fit it into their schedule. I dunno, I thought maybe this tour they'd maybe come somewhere near but I guess it's not in the cards.
Hmm, I wonder what the chances of an Oklahoma date are...?

do me a favor, look at a map of the US, namely the midwest.
now find detroit MI., Grand Rapids MI and Toledo OH.
melvins play detroit on 9/29, grand rapids on 9/30 and toledo on 10/1.
so its detroit THEN grand rapids THEN toledo.
are you looking at the map? notice how fucked up that is? your going from the east side of the state all the way to the west side of the state (maybe 2 to 3 hours) then BACK to the east side of the state into OH (maybe 6 or 7 hours).
this situation has thrown a wrench and a half into my "3 show" plan. twice as much driving, gas, etc.

this may be the most intense and thorough tour list I have ever seen.
melvins deserve much credit for hitting every little poodunkville town in america. most states get at least 2 shows, florida gets 6.
this is refreshing seeing as they claimed to be cutting down the touring quite a bit after dale's daughter was born.
this shall be the greatest live show you or I have ever seen. you thought the POTRE tour was good? its going to have nothing on this. prepare yourselves.
Sweet tourdate list... I always found out about the Pittsburgh shows literally ONE DAY before they happened... there are 5 shows within a reasonable drive from my town.
Thanks for the list.

The last time they played here was in 95 with White Zombie. And that was in a "coliseum", Juanita's is tiny.
I'm going to Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, and Little Rock. Anyone gonna be in Tenn. besides the Fart man?
I don't know glen, any burrito supreme that can be poured into the soft taco is a no go for this conoussier
2 things, first of all: crushed eyeballs? hm. well, they say that the eyeball is the most nutrient rich part of the carcass. so I consider that health food. you sure you're not talking about dogfood butcher-man?
second thing, burrito supreme poured into a soft taco. this is true. that is the bad side of the burrito supreme. gravity. as you eat it gravity takes over and everything sinks to the bottom. so you got about 2 or 3 bites of empty tortila. but the last couple bites are solid goo.
unless of course you figure out a way to eat a burrito supreme while keeping it totally parallel to the ground. don't give me that 'knife and fork' shit either, you KNOW that ain't happening.
so about this buffalo show....
fucking melvin motherfuckers11112
i can't believe they are coming to vermont! this is the best most unexpected news i've gotten since i woke up from a nap 10 minutes ago and realized i was still alive.
wow. wow wow wowwowow.
also, i am a little shocked they are only playing in NY once. however, there are plenty of surrounding shows which a lusty fan can attend.
i see that they have a day off in nashville. no doubt they'll be hanging out with old friends and checking the scene.

may I remind you all of this little snippet?
Big Melvins fall tour will be kind of like a circus. Different
guests in different cities, maybe Buzz doing some distorted/acoustic solo
stuff, different each show. Dave might do some noise w/BB to start, it would
constantly change. I think he mentioned the possibility of 400 Blows
guesting a show. Reminded me of the trilogy tour but he said that would
pale by comparison.
nice to meet you too.

They played Northsix for the HAT tour. Probably the best time I have seen them so far. I love the Warsaw venue. I have only been there once, but I remember the sound being really good. And it's a beautiful theater. As far as I can tell, the tix for the Brooklyn show are not on sale yet.
Ok all you haters of MIGHTY TACO..fine, more for me...If you really want to try something good, come out to rochester and we can get some garbage plates from Nick Tahoes

Mighty's not bad, I'm just annoyed that they changed recipes, seems like a typical corporate move to cut cost. I usually stop in before or after shows. Quick and cheap. Never been to Tahoe's, been meaning too. I usually hit the Dinosaur BBQ after a concert or Amerks game in Rochester.

is there anybody in the northeast part of the country that feels like going to the show in vermont? there have to be some people in maine or quebec or something, no?
if anyone in the ...say...200 mile radius was interested in coming to the vt show, i'd meet you there and it'd be a ball. maybe if you email me and prove somehow that you aren't a serial killer i'll even let you sleep on my couch and let you know of a fantastic breakfast place in burlington.
feel free to write if you want to meet at the show.

uh, probably not. i was very relieved to see i wouldn't have to be driving to boston and back in one night. i WOULD however love to catch more than one show this tour. is the northampton one on a weekend? i would consider coming down and spending the night somewhere cheap if i have a job by then.

Oh, I know Washington PA. Never really spent any time there, other than to eat. Uually stop in Washington for late night grub on the way back from shows in Pittsburgh. I lived in Morgantown, WV for quite a while, Wahsington is maybe 30 minutes or so north. Of course I lose track of time when I'm driving, so maybe it's further than that...
A couple of years back, I was in a band in college and we played a show in Waynesburg, PA. Really nice venue, really shitty audience, and even shittier barkeep. Never, and I mean NEVER, play a show without getting the method of payment in writing. Seriously. Fuck that bar.
Yeah I actually try to avoid Washington, PA as much as I can, I got my driver's license there and thats about it.
Morgantown is one cool town, theres an even cooler band called Nakano that plays at 123 Pleasent St. Catch em if you ever can.

Wow, I can't believe there's other central/western/upstate New Yorkers here (I'm currently in Oswego)! I'll see you guys at the Buffalo show, I just bought my tickets. I used to live and Saratoga Springs and I was at that Northern Lights show in 2001; if the reception they received there was any indication, they probably won't be coming back to the Capital area anytime soon (they were playing with Folk Implosion (!) of all bands), as about thirty or so fans showed up (I had a fucking blast however, it was the day after my twentieth birthday and my first Melvins show). AAAARGH! I can't believe that I won't have to drive all the way to the City this time! This rules...
On an unrelated note, I was driving to Tahoe's last summer for my first trash plate and I got in a car accident totaling my ride and breaking my ex-girlfriend's arm. God did not want me to eat it.

See you in Buffalo, the show should be killer, the showplace is a GREAT place to see a show if you dont know from the name it is an old movie palace. I hope you ate the plate while you were waiting for the ambulance, it would be a shame to let one go to waste...HAHA
so this fucker kicks off tomorrow night.
am I the only person here damn near wetting my pants in anticipation of the first review?
3 Days away for me!
On cainsballroom.com (my local venue) they got the tickets priced as $175 on the day of the show.
i am considering following their bus and catching the next 6 shows from vermont all the way down to new jersey.
should i do this? it could mean that i completely fuck this semester up at school, but i've already sort of started that in a sense.
it could also mean that i take a digital video camera + a stack of tapes as well as a 8mm camera + a stack of film and document the whole thing for a senior project as well as catch up on major assignments i've been blowing off in my time between driving and seeing the melvins.
input. provide it.
