the bloated pope, oven, let it all be, the bit, revolve, hooch,  lovely butterfly

this sounds alot like the POTRE tour setlist.  I'd like to hear some different songs this go-round.
although lovely butterflies should be BADASS with 2 drummers.

let it all be could have been left out of this tour. wouldn't have hurt my feelings any.  great song and all, but maybe something different of the bootlicker.

Sounds fukin great!!!

I am eager to see the mass amount of kick ass drums too!

Anyone else?
Any of the CA show-goers to date have set lists or remember some songs?

thanks

yeah.  tell me more, tell me more.

what about the stage set-up?   drums?  who all played?  in what order?

enquiring minds need to know.

all black tarp as a background, black robes, the drums were just two kits next to each other, as far as i could tell.

I asked, and SirDeemos delivered.

I thank you.

Yes, I would not be against them bringing up some other songs from their vast catalog. How many times are we gonna have to hear Let It All Be and Revolve? But then again I ask myself, why complain, it's the MELVINS!!!!

You newer people are going to have to try harder to remember the setlist. What's this crap about not remembering things like this? :) We demand exacting reviews! You are supposed to be fans.

Ha! I didn't even remember half the songs they played until I read them here. The show was last night!

wow..super nice work, sir...sounds like punctuality might play a big factor with this tour...what happened to the giant combo mutant custom drum kit I thought I read they were designing for Cody & Dale a while bacK? Or did I just imagine this? Either way...no big deal...sounds like a total punch-bowl of " Melvinmania"...beautiful pics, dirt...can't wait to catch 'em on the East Coast...

So they played 8 songs off the new album?!

plus:

Boris
The Bloated Pope
Revolve
Hooch
Lovely Butterfly
Oven
The Bit
Sky Pup
Set Me Straight/DCH
Let It All Be

Just curious, anyone know which 2 they didn't play off A Senile Animal?

fucking (A)!

this sounds great!!!

even though they always play those songs live....those songs are the reason the live shows are AMAZING.  lovely butterfly is one of my favorite songs. oven too.  let it all be is great live.  goddamn i am excited.
bloated poop too, of course.

i can't wait for a history of bad men live.

wowowowooow october, where are you?

Post by: The Fool on September 08, 2006, 12:29:45 AM
so have they dropped night goat from the set now?
it's a great song and everything, but like let it all be, the bit & revolve, i'd prefer they played a few different songs since they've played those at almost every show i've ever heard, or seen after the albums they are on were released- like glen said in a previous post.

roman bird dog/hung bunny was bitchin' when they were here last and i didn't expect them to play that, or shevil, which is another fave of mine.

boris would be fucking sensational though if they're playing that on this tour!!!!  :D

regardless of the setlist, i can't wait to get myself another dose of melvins live

seriously though,  I ain't complaining or anything but I gots to agree with my good man joe duetrom II.

I'd probably pay to see melvins play feedback for an hour and a half but I was kinda hoping they'd ditch Let It All Be, The Bit, Revolve, etc. for this tour.
maybe bring in some more Ozma or The Maggot tracks.

I've seen/heard them play Let It All Be and Revolve live a bout a million times.
why do Let It All Be, the simple-ist drum track in the history of melvins songs with 2 drummers?
why? I ask you.

I should probably wait for a more solid set-list before I go off bitching though.

oh jesus, glen.  you better go repent.  that is BLASPHEMY.  it may be a simple beat, but it is very unique in execution, and it is one of the best melvin drum beats in their catalog.  in my opinion.  i can't wait to hear Especially this one with two drummers.

I have lived and learned. I remember going to see marilyn manson (eek!), or at least I recall buying the ticket, and getting so fucked up I hurled on the way home.  I have faint glimpses of memory from the show itself.   that was a bad deal and I have no intention of ever doing it again.

Buzz's handwriting never fails to crack me up. The giant 'K' is classic.

I'm easily amused.

my guess:  he makes his 'K's giant because it is the first letter of his "name".  in signatures it's pretty big as well, and i bet it carries through.  you know....ALL those signings the melvins host.

It looks like they break up the setlist order based on the keys of the songs. I've only heard Civilized Worm off ASA, so I'm not sure though. But if my theory is right, is The Talking Horse tuned down to C like The Bloated Pope is? Then it looks like the next set is in standard tuning (Civilized Worm, Oven, Set Me Straight, Sky Pup...). And The next are in dropped D? I know The Bit, Hooch, Let It All Be, etc. are all in dropped D; not sure about Lovely Butterfly though. So, anyway if my theory is right, are there any guitar players around who've heard the new album, that can confirm this? That is Talking Horse=C, Civilized Worm=standard, and all the others (except for mabye A Vast Filithy Prison)=D? Some food for thought. Mmmmm...... food

this definitely seems right!  i always wondered why they put those lines there but was never as sonically observant as you just proved to be.
i am glad the Fucking melvins open their shows in C to really give the audience an idea of what they're in for.  then they bring it up a little for civilized [sorry] middle part, and then barrage us again to finish it off.  Mmmmmmm..... tuned-down instruments.

Mmmmm...... melvins.  melons?

7 songs in  a row off the new album.  IN chronological order.  or so I've heard.
I hope this set-list varies a bit throughout the tour.  I can't imagine they will play the exact same set night after night, for 3 months.

yet the realization that this is probably it, the official tour setlist, is looming.
