Took off two days of work and drove 12 hours round trip.
No Show!
No refunds!
Fuck Me!!
HOLY SHIT!! What happened, what gives? The venue must have done something to default on their deal with the band??
You beat me to it, I just got home also.
I've been to the Mangy Moose, but only during Ski season. I wonder if the slopes are open there yet. Too bad the show didn't happen.
It was a weird place for them to be playing on a Monday night in the fall.
Hopefully they do a make up show sometime in a not so out of the way place...(Salt Lake or Boise maybe?) I was hoping they would atleast apologize or something, I cant believe one of my favorite bands in the world would pull this crap. I think you are right, not enough advance tickets sold so they bagged it. Problem is they probably knew it days if not weeks ahead of time they'd be doing this. I wouldve tried to make Montana or Colorado if Id known. Atleast I couldve cancelled my lodging for the past few days and saved alot of time and money.
Yup. I was pretty disapointed. Like you said, " Not cheap staying in Jackson Hole."
Dropped alot of cash on these guys in the past. Pretty crappy way to treat your fans.
That is serious horse shit.
Man, that really sucks. The funny thing is Buzz would probably tell all of you pissed off out of towners who travelled and are already getting Melvins in your own town to get a life or something. They're not the Grateful Dead or Phish.
That's the deal. They skipped my town this time around. Thats why I went. No way would I haul my ass up to Jackson Hole before ski season.
The crazy thing is.
The night before, while we were out on the town, I predicted that the show would get canceled.
I find it hard to believe they can hold a refund on you.
legally someone owes you guys some money.
I wouldn't let that rest. call the venue and ask where your refund is at. if not, call a lawyer or police.
I just sent a email to Etix.com. That's the service the Mangy Moose website uses. We will see if that works. Still a drop in the bucket compared to the time, energy and cash spent on getting up there.
If the Buffalo show gets cancelled, I'd hit Cleveland the night before or Troy NY the following week. Not going to happen though, after a painful 10 yr absence, Buffalo is going to show the Melvins love.
Surprised they'd pull that though, after hearing that '99 Idaho show for 15 or so people. I figured the Melvins were of the Chuck Dukowski philosophy: If you're playing for either 10 or 1,000 people you make it worth it for whoever shows up and don't just hit the timeclock.
Well you never know. Maybe it was a bus malfunction. Still seemed pretty hinky to me. Or maybe I am just so bent out of shape I wanted to blame somebody.
BLAST!

Buzz might say to get a life and just go to the show in my town but they arent coming to my area either. This was the closest I could find, When I bought tickets they werent supposed to be going to Montana either. I would have tried going there the night before if I wouldve known. I will try the etix thing also. But like Senator said the ticket money isnt the big thing its the lodging and everything else. I really think that the Melvins should atleast mention it and say it happened even. I mean they didnt even apologize for it...unless the bar was just being jerks about it, which is very possible. Every once I know has said they cant believe I still like the band, to tell you the truth I wish I couldnt after that. I guess thats just the power of the Melvins.
Thanks for the Email address Buttholeman! I just sent him a email shaking him down for some info. Also wrote Ipecac. Still love the Melvins. Just a bit bitter at this point.
I sent an email to the tour manager and got this response. They wanted me to post it here so im going to. I feel alot better about the situation now. Sure im out some money but atleast the band didnt do it on purpose from what it sounds like after Dale's response. I wrote back and told them no hard feelings.
Here is the response:
I showed your email to the guys, and Dale wanted to personally respond... His response is below--- Can you please post this for others to see on the Melvins.net site as well.... Thanks....

- MELVINS -
I
not only that, the melvins lost some serious cash in the process. i'm glad they responded so quickly and positively. these guys really do appreciate their fans, regardless of what goodtimes says.
aw..... i could cry!
and they requested that it gets posted here.... oh melvins, how do i love thee, let me count the honeybuckets
Right on!
Now I feel a bit guilty about all of my speculation. If they manage to turn up in Salt Lake City I will be there!
Cheers to the Melvins!
I think Vcavallo needs some quiet time now. He seems to be getting VAKLEMPT a bit.
That's cool, as long as Buzzo doesn't suddenly get 24 hour laryngitis for the show I want to see.
That's AWESOME. I can tell you that everyone involved with the MELVINS from the band to Moss to the techs and all, are cool as hell. They would never screw with anyone on purpose. This is how they pay their bills, and I know Buzz takes it serious even in a business sense sort of way. That might sound wierd, but how the hell have they been around for so long. They take this "band" shit seriously. Dale's also got a little mouth to feed now. Every place they don't play is less $$$$ in their pockets. They'll make this right I'm sure.
Just got my refund through Etix.com
The rage is subsiding.
Now just hoping for a Salt Lake show to spring up.
I live in Laramie, WY, went to the show in Ft. Collins, CO and talked to Dale before the show. We asked him how it went at the Mangy Moose, he said that their truck broke down and they didn't make the show. He also said that they'd never played in WY before, but he asked if there was anyplace to play in Laramie. We pretty much told him there wasn't since we figured that our handful of friends would be the only ones to show. BUT HEY mELVINs!!!! COME PLAY AT THE BUCKHORN BAR IN LARAMIE!!!!
