Man oh man. What to say? Well, Dale dressed as fat Elvis for the Men of Porn set, and my friend and I were amazed that he could play with that thing on. Porn were great as usual, although I did hear some people in the crowd saying they suck, and I think one person said, "this is the worst song ever." Ghostigital were loud as hell and crazy again, and my friend is now a big fan of theirs. I'd describe them as an industrial/electronic sound with a crazy man yelling random things. Big Business were wonderful as always. At one point Jared got a whiff of something someone was smoking and said, "Is someone smoking a diaper?" Various audience members responded by saying "Welcome to Milwaukee," but I don't know what that means. Dale came out with just normal jeans and a t-shirt, so I asked him where's Elvis, he said "Elvis has left the building." The audience really like BB, and my friend commented after the show that he thought they were much better live than on cd. The Melvins came out a killed again. Early in the set Dale asked for the lights to be blue, and during the pause someone from the audience informed Buzz that all the beer they have set on the stage was for him. Buzz responded with a somewhat puzzled, "oh, okay?" He then said he would prefer a diet Coke, and commented on the local baseball team. The set was the same as last night, so a bunch of songs that I don't know the names of with some songs we all know. I think the second song is called You've Never Been Right. But anyways, I'd say my highlight was all the new material, Oven, and The Bit. My friend also enjoyed the set greatly but didn't take too much to Jared, kept referring to him as Junior, as in Buzz Junior. I'd have to say I love the dual drummers, which they fully utilize, and I think Jared is good, but in some ways I miss Kevin being up there, mainly from all those crazy noises he makes. For example, Lovely Butterlies is still a great live song, but Kevin completely owned that song. I do however feel that the band is tighter now than they have been in years, and I am very much so looking forward to when the new cd comes out on the 10th. So there, that's my summary.
Great synopsis of the show....I was also at this show....and I just got home and I stink like a dirty diaper.
The Melvins absolutely killed.....One addition to the "beers on the stage" episode....Buzz asked for a diet coke (as stated), and then decided that he would actually prefer a Zima.....and went on about Zima and how earlier in the day he had driven by Zima stadium (Miller Stadium) and how he liked the Milwaukee Zima's (Brewers)....the rest of the band interuppted his various thoughts about Zima and away they went. This venue was very small (capacity of approx. 300, and it wasn't completely full), I felt like the Melvins were playing a show in my basement. One more show for me tomorrow (Chicago), and I don't expect the crowd to be as tame/polite as the folks in Milwaukee.
btw, same setlist as the previous shows.....the new material sounds GREAT! If anyone has a picture of Dale dressed up as Elvis....PLEASE post it.

Chicago crowds are usually more laid back then Milwaukee crowds, especially at the Double Door. I'll be there, and will get some pics, though I doubt we will get a costume show.

I assume they were referring to the overall quality of herb typically found in the Milwaukee area. This comment most certainly would never be made in Portland :P
It takes a really talented drummer to play along side Dale and Coady Willis of BB definitely qualifies.
Yeah, I was up front by Buzz. That hippie guy looked like Earl from My Name is Earl. Man, was he wasted. My friend got the brunt of his stage dive.
It's funny that people dont know buzz isn't a drinker.
I was standing to the left of the dude with the porno mustache and bandana (earl).....he pulled off one hell of a stagedive there towards the end of the show...and that took me by surprise. I couldn't believe that people actually caught him, it wasn't like the stage was even that high off of the ground. I also saw that guy pounding beer at a bar down the street before the show.
I was the tall dude wearing an ancient Melvins "Stag" era t-shirt.....probably annoying everyone behind me with my non-stop head-banging....I couldn't help myself.
a shot I snapped during "lovely butterflies"

it sorta looks like buzz wrote out the setlist and photocopied it a bunch of times. i guess that would be the best way to do it, but there is something humorous about it.
