I've started one finally
I've begun with tour dates and the bio just because its easy copy and paste stuff, although more formatting is needed and i'd like some uniformity on the tour dates pages in general allowing for a linking to each individual date for anyone who attending to speak to anything regarding their melvins experience. anyone who has ever posted a review of a show on the board should feel free to repost it on the wiki page.
This thing is really easy to use and I may end up migrating most of the site over to it as a community based effort to keep the info as up to date as possible is the best idea in my opinion. If no one wants to mess with it that is fine as the main reason I installed it was for more ease on my end to disseminate info as I receive them.
some pages to start with for example-
http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins_Tour_Dates (http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins_Tour_Dates)
http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins_Tour_Dates_2006 (http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins_Tour_Dates_2006)
http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins (http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins) --- Needs Updating obviously, feel free!
good idea brian.
how's the arm?
This one is more up to date:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Melvins
are you referring to the biography or are you saying that my efforts to create a site specific wiki in and of itself are pointless?
No it's not a waste of time.
The Tour lists you have started are going to be an incredable data base.
The general content of the bio and the links you have planned for it look good too.

I completely meant as a reference for users, when making entries in yours
which is a totally great idea btw
cool. i've started this too, might be some stuff you haven't seen linked on it, please add others, there's one for 2004 as well, more to come throughout the week

?
Somehow I missed that Melvins interview in the Stranger last month.
The format makes easy to look up interviews. Great stuff.
Excellent idea!
i like it a lot. i edited an interview a little bit because buzz's responses were sort of nestled into the interviewer's questions and it was hard to discern which was which.
awesome!

You did what?!?!?
wow! that was a good one. i didn't even see it coming.... you got it before fartlips. good job!
I added a bit to the bio (Venomous Concept info and more on who this mysterious "Kevin" character was), but it's still nowhere near complete. C'mon geeks! If we all pitch in, this could be pretty comprehensive pretty quickly...
I was going to try and uniform the tour dates section, but don't know which way is more popular.
Should I do it like:
Date - Venue - City
or
Date - City - Venue
And should the opening bands/headlining bands be added after that with a "w/ Tomahawk, Tool, Ect." thing or should that all be saved for the individual link to each show? Which way do everyone prefer?

I like date city venue and include the opening band on the end personally
that is what I wanted to do but ran out of free time at work yesterday
thanks for all your help!
Set up the 2006 tour in the Date City - Venue w/ band format. Can't remember which date Ghostigital started on, and don't have any idea which shows Porn opened so far, and if Altamont showed up at all, so if you know, you can just edit those into the w/ section.

ghostigitals first night was minneapolis, last is in brooklyn

I just enabled file uploading, so uploading pictures from shows you attended( just try to name them with the date of the show if possible) and placing them on that dates page is possible, among other things, i've tested it by uploading a few album covers.
http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Melvins_Tour_Dates_2003
Do you like it like that, formatting wise with the bolder title and a brief explination of the tour?

Ah, cool. Thanks, brian. I was going to ask you about that, as that's where I started.

excellent, i'm searching my archives for other dates
good to know. i really appreciate all the dates being in one place on the internet. i forgot when a lot of the shows were and who opened and stuff. if i ever record a show in the future i'll make a note of it in the wiki and where someone can write to for a copy. more people should do it...i don't understand why some people are so private about their recordings
so i posted all the dates i could find thanks to the internet archive wayback machine
sorry for the mess this caused, including setlists etc.
ideas on what to do with this info are appreciated, i say copy them on over to the next page then delete them off the main date list.
my goal is to eventually link discography, lyrics, and tabs all together soon and get rid of the lyrics forum and the shitty tabs page with bad text files.
Was anyone else at the Melvins/Mudhoney show in Portland in 2004? That was my very first melvins show and I was wondering if anyone had a setlist.
I had only bought gluey porch treatments so I didn't know their music very well at the time.

Some of it's there.
Ozma (http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=Ozma_%28album%29) has the lyrics already. No tabs yet.
The spam the wiki is getting recently is overwhelming.
Someone suggested need to register an account to post. Can we make it do that, Brian?
Could we get a link to the wiki from the main themelvins.net page? Or is it not ready yet?
Thanks I've updated the wiki so that you have to log in to edit, and users have to answer a simple math question to create an account. I've also set up the spamblacklist extension. Hopefully the spam stops or at least largely decreases. If it does over the next month, I'll post a link to it on the main page of the site.
Nice, thanks
Thanks, Brian!
this seems to be going good after the patches were installed, i'll set some time aside this weekend to evaluate. i'd like to get the discography more fleshed out just by importing the stuff already in the existing html based discography if anyone is interested in being my wing man on this over the upcoming months...

Yeah, I'll help out when I can. I did a bunch of that stuff initially, but then got snowed under at work. When the onslaught dissipates I'll do more. Feel free to PM me specific areas you want to focus on.

Thanks Mark, our good friend Steve and myself pretty much brought the discography up to the point I was hoping for so I brought that into the foreground on the main page as well. As the summer goes on I'd like to migrate all things lyrics and guitar tabs related to the wiki. I know you've done a lot of work with this already. I'm going to try to write up a simple tutorial and make a post in the lyrics forum in the upcoming weeks so that others can contribute. Eventually the main page of the site will be even more 'blog-like' in nature and all links to any other areas of the site will be to different parts of the wiki.
Thanks again for any help.
Can anyone make a Wiki post?
What if I post a bunch of pictures from Photobucket and the account is cancelled? Does the Wiki lose the pictures?
brother grim, please ask permission to use the photos and then upload them to the wiki, that way we will have them forever, all have the ability to post on the wiki once they create a username
I was at the Auckland show in 97 and I'm 99.99% sure it wasn't at the Powerstation? They started that show with Hag and it was...........DEVASTATING!!!
Um, Brian? I asked for an account, and you responded, but after I told you what I'd like my username and password to be, you never replied.
What am I doing wrong :?:

That's a great adjective for a lot of
Melvins shows I've seen. Thanks!!
browsing the wiki, I noticed that Joe Preston's page is a bit light on content. I would've edited, but it's locked (which im sure is a good idea).
found this list on Wikipedia if someone wants to do a quick cut/paste job.
Salad of a Thousand Delights VHS (1991 Box Dog Video)
Lysol CD/LP (1992 Boner Records)
"Night Goat" single (1992 Amphetamine Reptile Records)
Joe Preston CD/EP (1992 Boner Records)
Every other version of TBSM vinyl is in Melvins Wiki, even the new art version, so I thought someone should add the green-backed scream version of TBSM to the Melvins Wiki beside this regular orange scream entry:
http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=File:TBSM-LimitedVinyl.jpg
You know, the version Haze printed for himself and which has been on display in the Slowboy 'Aural...' show. There are photos in Discogs that can be used in Melvins Wiki also.
http://www.discogs.com/Melvins-The-Bride-Screamed-Murder/release/5269670
Great, thanks!
The photo's mine, so it's free to use it in the Melvins Wiki.

Yeah, I like it a lot, haha
Too bad it's just so damn expensive to keep up to date with all this Melvins shit coming every week.
I must admit that I'm quite amazed that also another user on Discogs claims to own that green-sleeve scream TBSM - when Haze made only one (which ended up with me). His username, before he hid his collection when I asked about the LP, was FREERECORDS. I wonder who that might be?
He's probably colour blind.
