better than boston, i think.. the band seemed more into it.
the club was fucked-- doors at 8, show starts at 9:30.. you also had to be 21 to go in the bar section (which makes sense, i guess), but the bar was right in line with the stage. if you weren't 21, you had to stand off to the side. didn't matter to me, but still, kind of a weird policy.
ghostigital didn't go on until 10, and the melvins didn't play until about 11:15, mainly due to one of buzz's poweramps fucking up. same setlist as usual, although i think a couple songs were out of order. the crowd was pretty mellow until the end of the set, when a bunch of fat drunks started being douchebags right near the front.
it was worth the long trip, getting lost and shitty driving. providence tonight!
i saw a taper on jared's side of the stage-- anyone here? torrent?
I haven't seen the Melvins before, but I thought the show was pretty great. I loved the dueling drummers. The sound was better on the grown-up side and even if nobody was moshing or whatever, a lot of people were really into it. People tend to stand still in New Haven.
Big Business was pretty great, too. I'd never even heard them before, but I was right underneath Jared during the set. That man is a beast.
I took a bleeding buttload of pictures:

great show! performance wise, i think boston was better. buzz's guitar had this weird staticy sound (static, not distortion) that was evidently result of the aforementioned power amp problems. nonetheless, the band was tight in fine form and rocked the house.
pretty small crowd compared to the venue size.
i filmed directly in front of buzzo, and my friend was filming at the other end in front of jared. havent watched the tapes yet but i was getting some good shots from where i was standing. also got a decent sounding audience minidisc recording, though im not really a fan of that recording medium.
im pretty sure the set was the same as its been every other nite... nothing out of order.
3 melvins shows this week. wish i could hit providence tonite but its not likely...
whomever posted the pics here, it looks like you were the dude standing directly in front of me taking pictures. nice shots!
the opening band was dale and cody on drums with some dude named jeff who used to be in fugazi (?) it was very mellow and coffee-shop-beatnik-esque. i wasnt into it, but got it filmed anyway...
DVDs coming eventually!!!

Man, the quality of the pictures that are shared here is getting higher and higher, amazing job! And thanks for sharing!
This new Melvins lineup is fucking vicious! The show centers around the drumming, now, instead of being mostly about Buzz. Amazing setlist. I could watch these guys all night.
If anyone saw a young-looking kid in a Dillinger Escape Plan Calculating Infinity hoodie, I was to the side of the stage, directly next to the guy in this thread who was taping in front of Buzz.

You know, I suspected as much. When I saw "Andy the angry bald man" as your handle, I thought to myself: That guy standing next to me during that interminable period while they poked and pointed flashlights at the guitar rack looked like an angry bald guy.
I agreed to let a guy from Delusions of Adequacy http://www.adequacy.net/ use some of my pictures for a review he'll be posting there.
