Holy Shit: Interesting evening.
I called ahead of time and they said the music started at 8 - and they were wrong. I was in line at 8:05, about 40 people back, and missed the opening Melvins set. They went on at 7:55 and played fucking Sacrifice and Blood Witch! I heard from the line. I get in and they get off the stage.
So I go to the merch table, buy the Minneapolis Grumpy's 7' set for $25. I say gimme each Melvins shirt in XL, Dale Crover, in the booth, hears this, says "Thanks Man!" and gives me an autographed tom head with a cartoon of himself on it. SCORE. Noone goes on stage after this until Men of Porn. Dale Crover comes out in Fat Elvis attire eating potato chips. Too Funny.
They play one long song that was fucking great.
Big Business comes out in afro wigs with chin straps. They get through half a song before Jared stops playing and says - "The show can end quick - keep throwing shit - I dare you. I love playing for you guys but I'm not going to get electrocuted. Keep your beer in your mouth or your cup!" He ends this with some rant and satirical laugh and finishes the song. Dale Crover comes out and picks up the guitar and finishes the set with them - 2 more songs.
Melvins time - Buzz walks on stage . . .
What followed was a genius anthology of Melvins material - a setlist similar or exact to Athens.
Nothing really sticks out, but they played their set and we're done by midnight. Buzz looked unenthused and tired. I couldn't blame him. It was Halloween night. They're playing in Jacksonville Florida. About 50 people were in attendance. Probably not the best payday - a character building show, as Dimitri from the Burning Brides might say.
All in all a great fucking night though. This was my 8th time seeing the Melvins and they just get better. Props to Big Business holding downing a tight sound and bringing along the "Tour 2" CD , which made a nice addition to my collection -
HOW ABOUT THAT AUTOGRAPHED DALE CROVER TOM HEAD THOUGH - BONER!
That's great! Do you have a picture of the tom head?
Thanks for the review. Disappointing about the crowd though. :(
The show was awesome. I know there's a video out somewhere because there was a video camera set up on a tripod somewhere near the back, where there's usually couches at Jack Rabbits. I've got to disagree on the crowd though, my friend and I were up front and were getting pushed into the stage there was so many people. I've never seen Jack Rabbits that packed before..
I was that fellow recording the show. It'll be up on Dime eventually, but don't expect much thanks to the wack crowd. Everyone and their mom decided to hold onto my table and about knock it over due to their drunkeness. Also, to correct the times from the original poster, the doors opened at 8:15 and the Melvins started at 8:20. They also played the first minute of Okie but couldn't finish it because they "forgot" the lyrics. Here's a poster of the show: http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=20061031vr1.png
Those posters looked fucking awesome, but at $20 dollars I couldn't afford to get one. The crowd was pretty fucking rough, I couldn't believe they threw a water bottle up on stage, I was hoping they wouldn't do it again, and I'm glad they didn't.
Put together the DVD for this show, if anyone's interested. http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=120094

Thank you mucho. Can't wait to see it.
Is there any way that somebody could put this onto another torrent site. I can't register with dimeadozen and would really like a copy of this show. Man...
rip it and put it on slsk :D
Anyone's free to do whatever they want with it. Rip, burn, convert, edit, etc.. All I ask is to keep the begining intro and ending credits on it.

So I guess selling it on ebay is out of the question?
Well whoever has it to convert, edit, rip or burn... please put it out somewhere that doesn't have a 100,000 user limit. I would appreciate it indeed. I was at the show and would love to be able to share it with a few buddies that weren't able to go.

Yeah, seriously. Heh. That's what they get for squirting out a couple of genetic replicas. For them, Halloween is now a holiday for children that is not even remotely related to drinking.
More people should have shared that vision at this show. It would have been twenty times more enjoyable if everyone wasn't blasted out of their minds and destroying one another.
I must agree that there were some unsavory elements at the show that just wanted to push people around. One guy was even wearing a helmet, I assume as part of his costume, and insisted on whacking me in the head several times. The front of the stage seemed a little more relaxed with people just crowding around. If it were not for the idiots in the middle trying to start a pitiful pit it would have been a really good time. I tried my best to keep some people off of this guy with what appeared to be some fairly expensive camera equipment so he could get some shots... can't say if it worked out or not.
As for beer drinking... well, I don't mind it so much as long as it doesn't make you an uncontrollable ape. Meh.
Has anybody dl'd the show that can post it somewhere other than dimeadozen yet? I would hate for your effforts to go underappreciated. Heh...
i downloaded the show.....the only problem is that it is 4+ Gigs and if i uploaded that to my site, all the downloads would kill my bandwidth.... i think?
also, long uploads tend to get corrupted for me for some reason.
maybe i'm wrong on both fronts and i can do it.
or i can make DVD copies and send them out for the price of blank dvd-rs. also known as B+P. (ya know, blank + postage)

I uploaded Blood Witch from the opening set to You Tube. Perhaps some of the folks who can't download the DVD would enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyclzAhty8Y
I would love a copy of this show on DVD. If someone will tell me where to send a couple of blank discs, prepaid postage, etc. I will get right on it. Thanks!

Thanks a lot Kif! My friend and I missed the opening set because we thought the show would start a little later. Nice.
So, uh... does anyone still have this show available? I never got a chance to get it when it was posted and just thought I'd try again. Ha! I would appreciate it tremendously.
