so my night at the showbox was great, got to throw a few back and shoo the shit with Jared, saw some people i havent seen in years, except for one thing......i took a girl with me. She was slurring her words and stumbling drunk before the doors even opened. so the doors open and we get in and i buy some of the shirts, none of the "limited" signed posters that weren't numbered and the guy workin the table didn't know how many they were "limited" to so i couldnt see spendin 25 bucks for one. So we go outside ot smoke and she says shes not feeling well and wants to go back to the room.I was pissed at first but then the light bulb came on in my head. So i take her back to the room and we partaked in some "adult" activities and she passes out. But on the way back to the room we got a cab and we get to the motel and go to pay the cab driver and 40she can't find her wallet and it has $400 of my money in it (lost to many wallets at cocnerts) We get back to the showbox and i go ask the bartenders if they found a wallet, no. then im going to leave and i think to ask the big lug workin the door and luckily he had it.So she passes out and i go hail a cab and head back to the show.. I missed porn ,but i made it back just in time to see the BIZ go on stage..
My reply to that would be that your taking the wrong girl to a Melvins concert.
i don't think i've personally met a girl that has ever heard any melvins ( i take that back, not since high school have i met a girl thats heard of the melvins.
plus i always feel like i have to hang out with em during the show, and i like to wander around

Yes, unfortunatly they are few and far between. ( And yes, I know of you few who are regulars here :D ) But I've never met one here in Vancouver.
that sounds like a good night to me.

Yeah I don't take guys like the girl you described. Usually I write huuuuuge diatribes on how their sex and preference concerning being wimpy concerning drugs [why not get her hopped up on some weed AND dust it?] hinders my very Female enjoyment of Metal but the guys on Lambgoat dont appreciate it much. You've gotta be a serious guy to roll with me otherwise I roll alone. AND SHIT if you touch me in a bar be prepared for a throwdown. This is all a simple response.. A good portion of my friends are male.
Ouch, I learned my lesson of taking women-folk to concerts with the Sepetember 11th Hell's Kitchen Show... Never again. She was an actual Melvin's fan but as soon as the concert started I wasnt in her little world. Oh well, I should've guessed her a psychotic nut when she name dropped too much.
"Oh I'm friends with Jared and Coady and this guy Rowan who was a guitarist for Dio and all of Weezer!"
Ok little girl, now leave me alone...
*End vent*

I would think that would hinder anyones enjoyment of a concert, male or female. But I always see people at concerts who appear to have ingested this exact combo of drugs. Plus maybe some Drano.

What the hell are you two doing? Going to the ward and finding someone to take to the show? :D That might be fun actually, but I wouldn't invest to much cash into it.
Now that I think about it as least GHM got some drunk girl action, dammit now I feel bad. :(
I totally agree. GHM not only got laid, he found the wallet with the $400. That was a stress reliever if there ever was one.
And only missed Porn.
I wrote about this on the old BBS. I looked back at the concerts and it's not there. I took a girl to the Showbox to see the Melvins 2X4 tour. What year was that? Not only did she not like the show, the music made her sick. You know where they sell the merch at the Showbox? There used to be a payphone over there on the wall. That is where she tossed her cookies.
agreed. to some extent at least. my theory is never take a girl to a concert (like MELVINS for example) thinking she is going to suddenly 'see the light' and become a melvins fan. if she didn't like them or that style music before, she sure as hell isn't going to like it at volume 2 million AFTER a few drinks and in 95 degree heat. odds are somewheres about 1/2 to 2/3 through the set, after she has been dead silent and in outerspace for about 45 minutes, she'll lean over to you and say "I don't feel very good, I gotta get out of here." and the rest of your concert enjoyment will be OVER. even if you do stick around for the rest of the set, your attention will be on her and what shape she is in.
I've lived it people. with my very own wife. I took her to see clutch. she made it about half-way. then told me: "you stay here up in front, I gotta go sit down somewhere." so I let her wander off on her own, half tanked and confused. I lasted about another 5 minutes before I had to go find her and get her out of there. thank god it was clutch on not melvins. it will be a cold day before I say "come on honey! lets go see the MELVINS!!" its a risk I just am not willing to take. and she is cool with that as well. she understands my theory.
From GHM: "the guy workin the table didn't know how many they were "limited" to so i couldnt see spendin 25 bucks for one".
The merch guy is Montesano's own John Raymond. He said one day he was sitting around bored in Montesano, got a phone call, the next thing he knows he's on the road with the Melvins in Montana.
i take it he must know somebody? maybe his brother works with em or something? lol....i 've heard alot about Mr. raymond(dan) and that he was a teacher in monte but i never met the guy... what a lucky S.O.B. would that not be the coolest job ever? first dibs on melvins merch!!!! 8-[
John Raymond is the brother of Dan Raymond.
John was cool, I got to talk to him for a bit at both shows. It's funny how he and Dan look nothing alike.
did you have Mr. raymond as a teacher idle???

Look again, the eyes look similar, and there's other similarities. Body types are different,of course..but there are some similarities.

He took over Spanish the year after I finished Spanish II. But once I found out his Melvins status, I annoyed him endlessly. So he would have been there my senior year I think. I don't know how long he kept teaching at Monte.

I'm sure there are some, but I didn't get to talk to John for too long. Very personable guy though. I just was comparing body types and hair. So I guess my statement wasn't made with 100% accuracy.

If I had not taken a girl to a couple of them I would not have had a ride home when I got thrown out.
I took a girl to see the Melvins in Madison, or rather she took me? In any case, she lives in Madison and is a big fan. We had a lot of fun and she told me it was her favorite concert ever, and she's been to quite a few. Of course we weren't on anything (hugs not drugs) and only had a few beers there, preferring to do most of our drinking after the show. On the other hand, I had a male friend whom I saw the Melvins with quite a few years ago who got sick and had to leave halfway through their set (no beer/drugs, just not feeling good), but was good the next time we saw them. Of course he's not really a fan, he was just along for the ride so I had someone to go to the shows with.
