Venomous Concept hands down...
what do you think is the best????
The second Fantomas album.
First- Altamont Civil War Fantasy
Second- Men of Porn Wine, Woman and Song
Third- Altamont Our Darling
Fourth- Venomous Concept
Fifth- Fantomas Directors Cut
Sixth- Fantomas eponymous
Seventh- Altamont Monkey's Uncle
Eighth-Fantomas Suspended Animation
Nineth- Fantomas DC
I guess I have to leave Tomahawk off the list now.
See my nickname.
Oh a Our Darling and Delirivm Cordia are something special too IMO
For me it is a toss up between Fantomas Suspended Animation and Altamont Monkey's Uncle.
1. venomous concept
2. buzz solo
3. dale solo
4. fantomas - suspended animation
5. porn - wine,women and song

i'm with you.
both of those are the most solid and most creative albums they've put out independently.

2. buzz solo
3. dale solo
is that a side project?
i don't think so since they all kind of put the albums together as melvins
i think all 3 should be seen as a full melvins album

they didnt play on each others albums, and used others.
This is a very hard question.
It would have to be an Altamont album for me, but i can't pick which one.
I do love VC and Porn though.
Our Darling
although Civil War Fantasy is a close second cuz of Ezy Ryder
also nominate Mark D - The Silent Treatment (if that counts)
Let's see, I consider Fantomas and Tomahawk for that matter as Patton's projects, and not necessarily a Melvins side project. Dale is only on the last Porn album, right? I do like Altamont, but it's not gonna be my favorite Melvins side project. I think I like Fart Lip's arguments about the solo ep's, those can actually be seen as side projects, even though they were released under the name Melvins. In that case, damn... 1. Dale Crover, 2. King Buzzo. Or, 1. King Buzzo, 2. Dale Crover? Shit, I can never decided between those too. Best song of those EP's is definitely Annum from the Buzzo EP.
So: King Buzzo EP

i think dc means delirium cordia
I see, said the blind man. #-o
question: where does the reference "eponymous" come from? I realize what record it refers to. I just don't know where the word "eponymous" comes in.

Ask Eponymous, he will know the answer.
Funny, when he first hit the streets here I asked him a dumb question about his name and he answered "Yup".
duh, I figured out what eponymous means.
another way of saying self-titled.
It's Monkee's Uncle for me.

I'm pretty sure he played on all of them. I like American Style better than Wine, Women and Song, but both are good.
No sir Dale only plays on Wine, Women and Song which totally annihilates the other competition here. Ask Richie Goodtimes I betcha he will tell ya the same.
Should Big Business be considered a side project now since Jared and Coady are members of the Melvins now?
no
Why not?
because it existed before the merge
1. Wine Women & Song
2. Director's Cut
3. Civil War Fantasy
4. Delirum Cordia
5. Monkee's Uncle
MELVANA a combo oof my two favortie bands.....what could be better?
Civil War Fantasy.
Suspended Animation
also, Dale Crover EP > King Buzzo EP in my extremely humble opinion
This is a great topic. First thing that strikes me, is all the love for Altamont-Monkees Uncle. A lot more than is evident on the (newer) Altamont thread. I love the album, but is this an indication that it didn't have much "staying power"? The hypothesis that the Melvins Solo Albums can count for this list throws a monkey wrench into my list, so I've got to go up on the mountain and ponder this one. :-k
what the hell are you fools talking about?

If you don't feel like going back and reading it, there were some mentions of Venemous Concept. Those are albums;
Altamont-Civil War Fantasy, The Monkees Uncle
Fantomas-Delirium Cordia, Suspended Animation
Live long & prosper!

Sure thing.
I have listened before
I was about to queef my pants
=D>
MY two cents... Fantomas. I saw Fantomas live before I was melvins fan. They played the grog shop in cleveland while touring for the first album and I decided I'd better give melvins a chance after watching Buzz play note for note what I thought was just Jibberish on the album.
Fantomas for me.
Suspended Animation is one of the best albums I've heard and Director's Cut one of the best cover albums I've heard. Both never get old. Never dates, no weaknesses, timeless and almost even almost 10 years later you still hear new things in SA. Brilliant stuff. =D>
Not to mention Buzz's tone on those two albums are very much like early Melvins (boner record days), something which I miss of modern melvins. That fat gibson tone.
1st Fantomas for me. When I first heard that album I was just blown away. It reminded me of Naked City without the screeching saxophone which was a plus. Then when they came to town touring for that album my friend an I dropped some acid right before the show. Needless to say it was "mind blowing". So I guess that record just really has a special place in my heart.

I have this recurring fantasy in which Melvins play a show with Lori Barbero on drums and Lori Black and Lori Steinberg on bass and 2nd guitar respectively. The Three Loris of the Apocalypse or something.

Does it say "Osbourme"? I can't tell. Either way that's hilarious.
Tied between Fantomas - Director's Cut & Altamont - Civil War Fantasy.
