I was tired and drunk yesterday, but now I`m up, and I`m as happy as can be. Sorry for the big letters, but: THIS WAS THE BEST GIG I`VE EXPERIENSED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! PORN WAS GREAT, MOSS WAS A PERFECT FRONT-FIGURE, BIG BUSINESS GOT THINGS GOING, WITH DALE IMPRESSING US WITH HIS GUITARPLAYING, BUT THE ROOF LIFTED WHEN KING BUZZO ENTERED THE STAGE, AND HIS UNBELIVEABLE HAIR WAS SWAYING AGAINST THE LIGTHS FROM BEHIND STAGE. I DON`T REMEMBER THE SET ENTIRELY, BUT MY GOODNESS HOW SCHNABSTER AND THE REST OF THE CROWD GOT OUR ASSES KICKED BY THIS MONSTRIOUS BAND. I EXPERIENSED AGGRESSION, HAPPINESS, JOY, AND LOSS OF CONTROL IN 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES. NOT A DULL SECOND, JUST COMPLETE, UNEARTHLINGLY GOOD ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
How can I enjoy another band live after this? This IS the ultimate live-act, that I`m sure the rest of the 6-700 people at Rockefeller can agree on. Cause when I looked back at the crowd, people stood amazed, almost shellsh0cked over how good The Melvins were.
Right next to me stood a wellknown rock-journalist, going totally bananas over the music. It`s not often you see critics do that.
Next monday I will chill down with Thrones, that will be a different experiense, but I`m looking forward to see Melvins lost son go at it with his one-man-band.
Well, perhaps it will be possible to track down the setlist in some way, I will post it if so, and of course post pics etc from norwegian papers. We forgot the camera, and I hate myself for that.
Hepp-hepp!
Schnabster
Thanks for the review! Do you remember if they played Second Coming/Dwight Fry?

I`m emberassed to say that I don`t have a clue. My highlight was, if it`s possible to notice any peaks in this extasy, Pigs Of The Roman Empire.
Sounds good. I'm looking forward to their bombings of Berlin and Dresden.

 whoa, that must have been one hell of a show.
glad you got to finally experience the chi that is MELVINS live schnabby. and a THRONES chaser? holy shit man! when it rains it pours.
one question: did they REALLY play Pigs Of The Roman Empire? with the new line-up? that shocks me. if its true I must hear it.
someone has GOT to record this set.
I must admit memory is a bit cloudy due to stupid amounts of alcohol and grass , but on the other hand I went insane and the show was fucking perfect. The bloated pope would have been my pick as a highlight aswell.
As well? Maybe that means Schnab mixed up The Bloated Pop with Pigs, or?
Sorry. My pick would have been the blated pope.
My mind is still cloudy.
SWEET!! That is unbelievable, they are kicking some MELVINS ass over there for sure.
I don`t remember pigs personally, but might very well be my memory.
Buzz also showed a gentle side at the end of the gig. Cause, maybe as you saw Erik, there was some people going around on their own, especially a lone woman, walking anxiously back and forth in front of stage, one hour before the gig started. Buzz said at the end that he had seen some people walking around on their own before the show, and that life had its ups and downs, and that everyone had to take care and take the bus back home etc. I don`t know 100% if it was her he pointed at, but he sure came out as the opposite of a superficial, arrogant star.
He shows that you don`t have to be an ignorant asshole when your famous, and it`s also refreshing to see a completly sober frontman and band in a whole. Let us stupid fans be stoned or drunk, and let him and the band do their job! A stoned/drunk self-centered frontman wouldn`t even have bothered about the audience. Tons of props to Buzz!
And, as Cess says, it`s very possible I mixed Bloated Pope with Pigs. I hope you guys can bare over with a stupid, drunk norwegian.
PS! Jared (is that what he`s called, the bassist?) also showed a whitty tongue, communicating with a chap in the crowd, saying something like "are you implying that you have a bigger waist than me?".
I talked to Buzz in Stockholm today, he said last night was great. He said Norway is always great. He was incredible nice and easy to talk to. He also said that they are entering the studio this summer for next album.
He didn't think Norway was great in 2003 :P

He looked like an indian, with to tails besides his ears. Also in a way like a roman or greek warlord? Hard to explain, but his hair was tight.

The show was good.
I got drunk and then I lit a fire in my hand. (seriously)
I had to put my hand in a glass of beer to cool it off.
Later that evening I took a piss in a gay club.
I got smacked on the ass, and someone called me Shirley.
the morning after I woke up with a bad headache, but thats what you have to pay for amazing sex.

Fart is the evilest man of them all, thanx for putting him on place, Glen. Have a bad weekend, Fart! :x
Some amazing footage of the show that I somehow can't seem to figure out how to play for more than say 10 seconds at a time, but most of you computer savy people can probably figure it out. The footage is just top notch, but damn it if I can't figure it out...

Find the drag down option for "onsdag" on the right, scroll down to "lordag" and find Melvins...

The recording has been discussed thoroughly since the day it was aired live, and the problem is that NRK isn`t paying extra money to strenghten the lines out to the rest of the world. But, I say this not to tease people, the recording is so brilliant that it`s jawdropping that you don`t have the chance to see it.
Oops. Sorry. Didn't see it in the Discussion Board. But I mean, come on, it's only five pages long by now...

Damn, this was by no means a "putting you on your place for not seeing that thread"-post, but I can see how you perhaps could look at it like that. I`m a very liberal chap, and not one of those besserwissers. I really hope that you and others get the opportunity to see it, or even better, that Melvins do as QOTSA and make a live-DVD of the recording. (QOTSA was so pleased with the NRK-recording of their show at Hove Festival, that they decided to use it)
Melvins concert is cirka 1 hour long, so the thing Buzz & co could do is to add some videos and other live-footage.
I know. I was just being sarcastic because it was pretty clearly displayed. So it's just me taking a shot at myself.
